They have peaked my interest. The return to the Milky Way with a tie to andromeda is probably the best for everyone involved. Hopefully we don't get any more stories about horrible internal issues on the games development like we had after adromeda.

It wouldn't be the first time a studio has taken choices players have made (in aggregate) and made them canon. I believe the studio that made the InFamous series did so when transitioning between IF2 and IF:Second Son, where many players chose to sacrifice Cole for the sake of humanity. Firaxis did something similar with the modernized XCOM games, where they saw most players had failed in their first playthrough. They made these failures canon, leading to humanities overthrow and subsequent Guerrilla-like narrative in XCOM2.
Something that doesnt make any sense to me though, is that if this trailer IS meant to tie Andromeda and Milky Way together, then it couldn't be set in the 600+year future with Ryder. Liara would look far older (Matron stage at a minimum - given she was ~180years old in MET). The Arks also launched well before the Reaper invasion took place; based on Andromedas story premises. So if Ark 6 is supposedly the Quarian Ark, either it had been stranded at its launch bay, due to the Reaper invasion, or it's already out in order at the start of this next game.
Idk, could be some retconning going on (which is kinda common in BioWare games)

It's from the side of the helmet, which she gave to Shepard. She didn’t give us the helmet. We find it among the Normandy’s wreckage. She gives us our old dog tags that she got from Hackett. That's only if she isn't romanced. What's funny about that is she says she recovered the dogtags, then said they changed hands a few times before ending up in Hackett's hands. Why would he give them to her to give to Shepard? How would he know Shepard would visit her? And wouldn't he give them to Mrs. Shepard, Shepard's mother, for those who play as a spacer? If she is romanced, she found them and gives them to Shepard. Hackett isn't mentioned at all. If you want to see/hear the difference, I posted the videos of each in the things that don't make sense thread.

My pet theory is that they're going to go the Final Fantasy VII Remake route and reboot Mass Effect 2. RenegadeControl!Shepard from a parallel universe sends their own Liara to recover "main universe" Shepard instead of "main universe" Liara, and some epic hilarity ensues.

A question. Would you be interested if the game is a straight sequel to ME3? I am not interested in anything that will include a new crew. I am not interested. I am also no interested in Andromeda, but the fans should get some closure. I don't think that going back to Andromeda right now is a good idea, but I also don't think that going back to the Milky Way, 600 years or however many, in the future, after the events and setup of ME3 is going to solve anything. The Milky Way, at that point, is of no importance, because there's nothing that you have a vested interest in, other than Liara, if you cared for Liara to begin with. Chances are you did. But Bioware is basically calling Liara as the setting, at this point. They brought her back for Andromeda and they'll bring her back for ME5. And they'll bring her back for ME6, as well, if its up to them. Which, again, is great for the people who loved Liara, just not for me. I still think the whole situation is vague because they didn’t want to give a clear direction to where we’re going, even if they’re liking different tweets about different theories. It’s fine to abandon any hope on the franchise, but it’s not clear what kind of plot NME will have, yet, unless you have additional info. The premise of Milky Way, in the future, where all that matters is Liara, again, is a no go for me. And that is what they showed. I've been saying since last summer, (possibly longer) that, no matter what, Liara would be making a return and that the Andromeda fans may not be getting the Andromeda they want. That is all the info I have. It's not easy getting this stuff. Got it. Liara to me is interesting mainly because she represents the trilogy side, and to see what part of that/MW they want to bring back.

From what I saw he just said that the presence of the two galaxies was intentional, but he also said that he could not mean what people think. He’s been intentionally vague, form what I read. He's been very clear. Andromeda and the Initiative will be present. Just not how the people that want Andromeda would be satisfied with. On the last bit of your post, if I connect that with the teaser, the only way why it’d be an Andromeda sequel but not the one those fans expect is it Shepard is back as a protagonist, but in Andromeda. I am not aware of Shepard being back in any capacity, or any other trilogy character, for that matter. If this is what it’s going to happen, I can see your problem with it...and it’ll generate a lot more hate towards Liara. I like her, even though she’s neither my favorite character or romance (that’s be the long haired woman in your avatar), but she’s already criticized and hated for her role in the trilogy compared to other characters, it won’t help if she’s the only one back. If Liara is truly the only part of the trilogy back, I expect A LOT of rage around the internet whenever they reveal more of the game, since A lot of people are assuming a sequel to ME3 with that teaser.

I don't get the hate for Liara. I love her character. My last post was more about what kind of game NME will be in general, but for Liara, part is simply dislike, that happens for every character, and part is due her extended, preferential role in the trilogy.

For those who want a transcript of what was said in the trailer (minus some distorted voices that will take audio file manipulation to extract). Here is what I got so far: 0:08 - We know now that in the early years of the 20th century, this world was being watched. (No idea about this) 0:16 - Roger Copy. Eagle Houston, you are go for landing. (Apollo landings) 0:21 - Arcturus Station, unknown vessels approaching. Initiate first contact protocols (First Contact War) 0:27 - Humanity now stands as partners of the galaxy (Humanity meets Citadel Races) 0:32 - Ark 6 is away. Godspeed (Quarian Ark from the Andromeda Initiative) 0:39 - We've got to take down the Dreadnaught0:42 - Engines are going crazy. Abandon ship (image of a Mass relay in the background) 0:47 - Is anyone receiving this? We've lost contact. 0:52 - You're not leaving us all behind (sounds like Liara's goodbye from the beam run in ME3) 0:54 - (Some whispers I cannot decipher) I'm pretty sure that line is from the beginning of ME3, and it's "they're gonna take down that Dreadnaught".
