I agree that she is most likely old. But its hard to know when she starts to smile as her face is covered for so long. Smiles can start in the cheeks, so in theory the smile could be starting before the face is even revealed. I hardly think BioWare would pay attention to the minute differences in how different people smile in terms of the teaser. I'm sure they would, and creases or lines can happen before the smile on your lips appears. Like I said given all the evidence I think they are planning older. But I also think they would be willing to walk that back in a second if they thought it would help them. I think any of the assumptions we are going on are potentially up for complete failure as the game is 4+ years out and given recent history they can and have completely changed course over the last 18 months. I think keeping everything vague was the intent, so they could roll any direction at any time. Like if they are worried about people who see old, but want to go young they make Liara take the role of the dad/grandad in the epilogue hundreds of years down the line telling a story to a kid. Yup old liara is there, but only in the epilogue.

OK, I'll admit I haven't read all 49 pages of this thread, but...can't Liara die in the race for the beam if your EMS is low and she's one of your squadmates? It seems like they'd be canonizing more than just Shepard's final choice if she's in this game and it's set in the post-MET future. She can, but she's a familiar face. Just like Ashley and Kaidan on the ME2 Trailers or some of your squadmates for ME3 Trailers, even Wrex on the Citadel DLC. And they all can be dead. Promo material isn't canon. That's the bottom line.

You can rest assured Liara will be back. I read that Jillian Murray tweeted how she signed up for the next ME already. I assume Ali Hillis will soon too.

Now there's a name I haven't heard in a while. Really, are there any better characters than Liara and Lightning? I say no!
(Harding is a respectable third, though Dagna being voiced by Serah's VO makes that one a significant and amusing coincidence)

Unless the hints and rumors about this being on the Milk Way post ME3 aren't true (which i don't believe) the trailer sure seems to point in the general direction of where they are going. Doubt older looking Liara was a accident.

Before you guys get toooo carried away about the desinformation about Jillian supposedly tweeted that she had signed on for a new ME game. She has not. She did tweet "Yeah, I've aged lol" though in regards to the teaser.

Nope. Because she had those wrinkle lines on her face before she smiles. I'm 99.9999% sure she is simply old. Graphics have improved so much that accidental wrinkles for a young character is not something that I would consider reasonable, let alone acceptable. I agree that she is most likely old. But its hard to know when she starts to smile as her face is covered for so long. Smiles can start in the cheeks, so in theory the smile could be starting before the face is even revealed. So BioWare is smart enough to know to put "smiling wrinkles" accurately to the millisecond on her face, knowing when they start before the smile is visible on the lips. At the same time, the wrinkles like the crows feet on her eyes being an indication of being old are just an accident... Yeah... Not buying it.

Did any of the asari seen in the trilogy that are hundreds of years old have wrinkles? Did any of the asari in MEA have wrinkles? Was the captain of the asari ark old enough to have wrinkles? How about the sarissa asari? I would guess asari age differently from a human.

I have a feeling that although they wanted to go to another galaxy, they always had in mind to merge both galaxies and stories somehow.... Something that i just remembered, peebee said that someday they might be able to travel galaxies with rem tech faster/instantly and have rem tech infused ships. Also vetra said (can't remember what they were talking about), she said "worth two galaxies" at the end of the conversation. Vetra knew it all along Vetra isn't a scientific genius so whatever she says is irrelevant. And nothing in rem-tech has indicated superior travel speeds. They had access to remnant ships, they weren't anything special. If they poof people back to the MW with rem-tech its a bigger ass pull than building relays.
Ryder in the MW fixing MW problems, they have made some missteps but I really hope they aren't that bad at reading the room.
Indeed. I think it was established that rem-tech isn't even as advanced as Prothean technology. Just easier to adapt.

Did any of the asari seen in the trilogy that are hundreds of years old have wrinkles? Benezia did, but they're kind of faint: I suspect that the asari in Andromeda are the last thing we should be looking at in this context, since they all look the same.

I think despite all the big games that are gonna release this year, his tweet is kinda teasing at something, something we might see soon. Aside for a gameplay/trailer for the legendary edition, maybe we might see something this spring/summer or on n7 about the nme?

I got my new years present. A few things I'd expect, some things I didn't expect to the level I expected and something I didn't expect. Still nothing I'd like to play. And since I was asked to say it directly, bring Jack and Miri back, Bioware. Otherwise, no buy, sorry.

How about the sarissa asari? I would guess asari age differently from a human. Looking at various images, there really aren't any distinct wrinkles on any of the Asari (throughout their various life phases). The only character that showcased any wrinkles was Matriach Benezia, but I have to wonder if that was due to the game working a less optimized version of Unreal (or of a personal choice). If you contrast Beneziah with Samara (or even Matriarch Aethyta) they don't really show any signs of wrinkes.

It'd be hilarious if the wrinkles turn out to be meaningless. Like, they brought the face model in for a new scan, and everybody just forgot that she ages faster than Liara.
