Do you think they will now put Antem on Steam? What, it ain't there yet? Kinda pointless now.

SWTOR never killed anything, trust me. It gets killed over and over, not the other way around. Fortunately in Star Wars universe nothing ever trully dies...

I'm not saying "don't be hopeful", I'm just saying "don't be deluded". From the little I saw, I think it was fine, but I also think it’d have been fine if you straight out said it, unless you’d get in some trouble by saying it. Nah, that'd have been fine. Unless "get in some trouble" would mean getting persecuted here. But that's par for the course, for saying things like they are. I thought it was common knowledge that Anthem is canceled the moment the new ME game project was announced. Not to mention the ME Legendary edition. What does it say when Bioware is given time and resources for that, but no word on Anthem in over a year? The writing was on the wall. Actually, no. At least, as far as I was concerned. I didn't even know it was up for review. I only found out about the cancelation after it. It was the most positive project of Bioware's I had been in a while. Because the news were actually good.

So much for a "10-year plan." Almost picked up Anthem at the last sale b/c I enjoyed the ~30 hours I put in during a free month of Origin Access (as it was called at the time). Didn't b/c what happened to Darkspore still stings.
At this rate DA4 is shaping up to be BioWare's Cyberpunk 2077. There's too much riding on it for the required level of success to be remotely likely.

The entire project was an epic waste of time. They should have ditched it weeks after launch.

Honestly, good. Ideally, this’ll discourage BioWare from attempting a multiplayer-focused title again.

it will hurt BioWare in a long term. This is yet another loss from the studio and reputation matters What reputation does BW even have anymore? They are quite literally not the same studio that made games like ME1 and DAO anymore. If not for FO76 I would say BW is my own most disappointing dev studio.

"Chronicle of a Death Foretold"
I'd like to think this is a good thing and that management of future BioWare projects will improve as a result. I doubt EA is looking at BioWare kindly after Andromeda and Anthem so change needs to happen sooner rather than later.

Well - What can I say?
My predictions turned out to be true. The moment I heard Anthem would be a multiplayer, and even worst - a "Game As A Service", type of game I lost all my interest. I said far before the launch of the game that it would be a failure. Bioware is a studio that has single player role playing stories in their genes. Apart from that I don't like multiplayer games, I knew that they never could give the same experience in a multiplayer game, as they had given in their single player games. And I was right. And as a result the game failed to be attractive to (most of) the older Bioware game lovers, and was not able to attract enough new gamers simply because they had the core stuff (party shooter-looter) simply wrong.
I am not happy with this outcome. I am still mad when I think that all effort and manpower that has been put in Anthem also could have been used to make Mass Effect Andromeda a really good game. While I still like that game, there is no doubt it could have been so much better. Mass Effect Andromeda was sacrificed for the good of Anthem. And what is the end result? In stead of one really good game (ME:A) we now have two failures. Yeah - It still hurts!
Anyway - I had high hopes for Dragon Age 4. However - As I learned that the core of that game is ripped out, and replaced with key components from Anthem, I got that sinking feeling that another game will be offered to the pitch dark god of "Game As A Service" and even "multiplayer" madness. If that really is the case, I predict Dragon Age 4 will be the next failure, and probably the end of Bioware.
Really - I am a fan of the older Bioware games, but absolutely do not like the new direction of game development in this studios. I can only pray Dragon Age 4 will be a REAL single player story driven RPG, otherwise it's the end of the line as far as I can see.
Sorry for being this negative, but Bioware MUST be sure to have the next thing really, really, really very good. I still have some hope they do, but realistically speaking... Yeah... You know.. Sigh...

I'd say 76 was somehow still better at launch than anthem and it actually had a really solid recovery. I'd prefer they didn't waste their time with that style of game but they did own a bunch of studios so it didn't really impact them making starfield.

This is just bad news, it will hurt BioWare in a long term. This is yet another loss from the studio and reputation matters. Next Dragon Age game has to be a big success, otherwise things will not look good for the future. Bioware's been hurting itself for years. This was just the logical conclusion of their choices

MP just isn't my thing, and as much as I really love BW's older titles Bethesda was still my favorite. Thus my disappointment in them is still greater even if they had the lesser failure.

Well I enjoyed Anthem but It's a shame that support for the game had to end. Seriously It makes think that Bioware will just ignore any Andromeda and Anthem fans in the future. Which will stink even more.

If not for FO76 I would say BW is my own most disappointing dev studio. At least Bethesda is still supporting and improving FO76. Yup, they actually listened to their fans to see where they went wrong and what could be improved, and started acting on it immediately. Now personally I preferred the no NPC thing in 76 it gave everything a really creepy vibe. But most people didn't like it so NPCs were added in. Right now 76 is a really solid game, its not really my cup of tea as I don't like MP stuff, but its solid, it has a community, the devs constantly were communicating and working with the fans. Every studio will have there misses, its how they recover that matters. Bethesda recovered admirably, bioware barely even tried to.(not talking individual devs who i am sure busted ass, but resources put towards)

They didn't even try to appeal to the people who like those games.

You know, if I had said it got cancelled, I would have been labeled as a pessimist, a hater and a liar. So I did hint it, but I didn't want to sound too negative. Do you guys think I held back enough? You weren't exactly subtle to be fair

BW needs to figure out who they are. Truer words have never been spoken. They really, really do. They know who they are. Folks just dont like the answer to that.

Moving forward, we need to laser focus our efforts as a studio and strengthen the next Dragon Age, and Mass Effect titles while continuing to provide quality updates to Star Wars: The Old Republic. They've barely touched The Old Republic in like a year.

You weren't exactly subtle to be fair Baby steps. In all honesty, I kind of figured it would be axed which is a shame because there is so much potential and frankly, a lot of fun in its core ideas. But, that's ok. One lost hand is not going bust at this point. The deck is still stacked in favor if they play their cards right.

Andy McNamara @therealandymc (Director of Comms Strategy at Electronic Arts) I wasn’t at EA when Anthem launched or part of any planning for NEXT, but I was here for many discussions leading to this moment. This stuff isn’t as easy as people think. Everyone involved with the game, including those in leadership, were concerned about players & the game.
I see people ripping BioWare for this, and I know I can’t change that, but covid has been a global challenge and these type of decisions aren’t easy for them. Anyway, less hate. More hope. Folded hands I am saddened about Anthem but the teams are hard at work on some amazing stuff.
