As I said, they're just thoughts - I have no evidence to base any of this on, but it's just a gut feeling I have. I never said it was a guarantee, but if they're letting us recreate the Inquisitor, it means they'd be shown shortly after. It's like when we recreated Hawke shortly before meeting them in Inquisition. All will be revealed in time. Until then, all we can do is speculate. I'm not so sure - in Baldur's Gate 3 we design an additional NPC, and that NPC can show up pretty late in ACT 1 (their appearance is reliant on triggering certain event; the trigger of which is present only in certain locations, and we can reach them whenever we feel like it).

Yeah I think they’re just doing both at the start since I recall quite a few people complaining how having to make Hawke when they did brought them out of the scene.

Yeah I think they’re just doing both at the start since I recall quite a few people complaining how having to make Hawke when they did brought them out of the scene. It's one of those creative dilemmas that may not have good answers - do you spoil character appearing at the very start of the game, or do you keep it a secret, but make it a little anticlimactic, because the first time we see them is not a reveal scene, but a character creator The good thing about Inquisitor is that featuring (and designing) them at the beginning of the game makes sense, given that they're the heroes of events that need to be recounted for Veilguard to make sense - but that doesn't mean that they'll be present from the start; we may start with them, or they may as well show up halfway through the game. It's hard to tell at this point. I'm receptive to the idea that Varric is the default character accompanying us to the ritual site to stop Solas, but perhaps we'd be able to replace him with Inquisitor - however, I don't really want to convince myself that it'd indeed happen. Gotta wait and see what they have planned.

They wouldn't be pushing him in promo materials if they didn't want newcomers to recognized and connect with him. Well...

Well... what? Varric has already present in many more promo materials, including a reveal trailer and gameplay reveal seen by millions of people. It's an entirely different scale.

No it thisn´t Bioware can still put out an Mhari situation and kill Varric. Also what you say doesn´t rule his death out. I personal disagree because Varric death would feel tacked on and won´t have the impact that Bioware hope for but i can´t say that they won´t write his death for a theoretical huge emotional blow in first hours of the game.
Also Bioware had said that we will see the deaths of major characters so a death of the mentor which Varric seem to be in Veilguard first hours shouldn´t be surprising for no one.
