I understand them changing the Limp Bizkit reference although, if they had the balls, they'd keep it in, but that's the extent to the changes I would allow, in terms of dialogue. That's it.

They should keep the line because it could retroactively double as a nod to Ki Adi's memeable quote from EPIII.

So...it might be a timed exclusive for PS5 with PC coming later. So places are saying timed exclusive and others aren't mentioning it at all, just that PC is getting it as well. Doesn't "console exclusive" mean it's only an exclusive for the selected console? Usually that doesn't affect the PC release and the game launches simultaneously for the console and PC. If it was worded like a "timed PS5 exclusive", then that would mean it will launch later on all other platforms, including PC. Depends on the situation as I remembe rRise of the Tomb Raider getting a staggered release because of timed agreements. XBox got i tfirs tthen PC had to wait 6 months then PS had to wai t a full yea rafte rXbox's initial release t ob eable to ge ttheir hands on it. We're not normally privvy t oal that info bu that's often how i tends up in situations like that.

With all the talk of appealing to a Modern Audience it makes me wonder if they'll allow you keep all of your companions, no matter the choice you make.

Yes, I loved those! And the murder mysteries/trials. Some of my favorite parts of the game, and I say this as someone who universally solves modern game puzzles with an internet search. Control was fun, the puzzles are for people with way too much free time. KotOR puzzles were brief, challenging enough, but not ridiculous. The mystery plots are perfect. So much of the game is perfect. It makes me absolutely dread what they would do to TSL, with its much darker tone and actual darkside RP opportunities. A remaster here is all that was necessary. Changing the gameplay to "action RPG" will lose the old crowd, and the NuWars inserted garbage is pretty apparent to the younger crowd, even if some of them still "like it" (they don't, they just cannot stand controversy, it's weird). Deconstruction... good gravy. This project is in jeopardy. I’m not going to debate how the younger crowd is split, but why should we assume that the people that like it are faking it? It’s best if we all realize that the fact that we don’t like something, doesn’t mean that nobody else would, even if it’s something overall unpopular. I still don’t think they mean to overhaul the game completely, story wise (combat is more likely to change a lot), but it’s something we can just wait and see how it goes. If what you’re all fearing will be proven to be true, I won’t buy the remake, but there’s nothing that can be done about it. As I said earlier, with the high chances of changing happening with a remake, the fact that this was announced as a remake and not a remaster should’ve given pause to everyone that isn’t okay with any kind of changes.

That article also mentioned that the same language was used in regards of remakes that changed little/not much of the original. I get that FFVII remake is a perfect example of the direction they could go for with KOTOR, but it’s not the only one.
I also don’t think that changes are necessary going to make the end product a bad game/remake. It can still end up good and not a shitty remake. Granted, I’d have preferred to have the remake where they’ll announce they’d change zero in regards of the story, as there are less chances of the changes being bad, but never expected that to happen, unfortunately.

The only people who i see the change being an issue for are rpg purists, and or fans of the og game. The designation Modern Audience sounds like it's a euphemism for appealing to new/casual players who might feel like they're being punished because of the choices that they made. It's one thing for a player to see their favorite character die in a television show, but it's another for them to realize that their decisions had determined their favorite character's fate. If the devs keep things the same i doubt many players will choose the darkside path after learning about what we know. If the devs plan to counteract a potential disparity amongst light vs dark players i wonder if they'll include options to condition your companions for the darkside path (ME2's loyalty missions) or only give the player more rewards for the darkside path.

Can someone explain to me why a remake justifies rewriting the script? I've never played a remake that does that.It sound like you never played a video game remake. They are entire new games, like movie remakes are new movies. The recent Resident Evil 2 and 3 are remakes and they had rewrites and new voice actors. Going by what was said, the KoTOR remake will keep the cast (well those still alive) and the story as is. What's going to change is probably in-universe references and certain sentences in dialogues, especially if Revan is voiced. I mean, " How do I level up?" is an actually dialogue choice in the intro.

Direct personal attacks on anyone are against the forum rules. That applies to developers as well as forum members.
'Her statements are hypocritical and self-serving' is permissible.
'She is a self-serving hypocrite' is not.

What makes the differences in both remake's design philosophy more bizarre is Capcom's reaction. 3make's team was originally tasked to develop RE4's remake but Capcom pulled the plug on them, and that makes me question if Capcom's consultation somehow screwed up at their job.

Can't wait to see what their idea of a KotOR "updated for a modern audience" is.
Will it be bold and stunning? A masterpiece even?
Only time will tell.
