Well assuming Cassandra wasn't divine I could see her relaxing with the inquisitor if they are romancing or rebuilding the seekers. I do not think we will see her though. Varric should be running kirkwall but I give it a 50/50 chance that he is a companion again. If he is a companion again then he better be romancable BECAUSE HE DESERVES BETTER THEN BIANCA! ahem
Dorian almost has to be in the next game as an advisor or something since he will be the only companion from a former game that has a real reason to be in tevinter. Most likely as an advisor for our character or something similar. I would like it acknowledged if Dorian romanced the inquisitor. Nothing huge just something in conversation and hopefully a slide at the end that said they finally got together again and spent their lives together.
Leliana should not be in the game. I love her but she has been in all three games and has no reason to be in tevinter as Solas knows all about her and she might be the Divine.
Joshephine could get a small cameo but I don't think so. Besides she is running a trading business. Would like it refrenced is she is the inquisitor's LI.
Cullen- Absolutely no reason to be in the game. He is either dealing with the effects of lyrium addiction or is running a home for old templars or married to the inquisitor and again Solas knows who he is and how he thinks and Cullen is a well known figure and thus can't really hide.
Solas will be a big part of the game. Either he will be dealt with early on or we will find out his crazy idea is something that has to be done or something like that. My thoughts at least.
Blackwall should not be in the game either as he is either a warden, righting wrongs, or with the inquisitor if he is the LI.
Cole- Should not be in the game and is either in the fade or stole Krems girl
Iron bull- Should not be in the game. He is either dead or a mercenary and would have no interest in joining the Tevinter cause even if he isn't a qunari anymore. If the inquisitor is in a romance with him they should be together.
Sera- As she is incredibly afraid of magic I don't see why she would be in tevinter but they could have her leading the red jennies or if she romanced the inquistor she should be with her. I do not think she should be in the game.
I would love to see some of the DA2 cast again but only if it makes sense and if they are romancing hawk to have it recognized.
Maybe see Sten or Zevran from DAO. I really don't want to see morrigan again but we likely will. We won't see shale again but I wish we would as she was awesome. Ogrhen should be dead by now either from the calling, ruined liver,or dying in battle. Even if he isn't dead he will be too old to fight and should not be in the next DA game. Wynne is dead if I remember right so we shouldn't see her again. Nor alistar or loghain either. Dog would be ancient by this point so he shouldn't be seen either.
Scout harding should be in the game and be a love interest as she is perfect!
Hawk should not be in the game as he deserves to rest with his LI. Plus I see absolutely no reason to have him in Tevinter Again would like a slide at the end of game saying that he got his happily ever after.
Finally the inquisitor himself should not be in the game but should and definetly be refrenced and possibly a cameo and get a slide at the end of the game. Or he will come in to deal with some problem like Hawk did in DAI.
I think there is an extremely solid chance of Fenris showing up. I believe there were hints thrown around that he would be influenced by Solas or something. But yeah he has a deep investment in removing tevinter, the slavery there, etc. I think Fenris will be back in some capacity, but I don't think he will be a companion. Maybe somebody that the new protag can save, etc. I think Bringing Fenris back would be extremly problamatic for long time fans like me. First of all he could be chilling with Hawk and after hawk is now situated and safe in kirkwall there is absolutely no reason for Fenris not to be there with her/him. If they have him break up with hawk or something to that effect I would be angry and I am usually understanding about things not being perfect when they bring them forward. For example I didn't really care that the rachni queen shows up in ME3 whether you kill her or not-yes a reaper clone still counts- which takes away from that choice. I understood it and was fine with it. I would not be fine in any way with having a romanced Fenris not be with hawke at this point. There is absolutely no reason not to have them together. Furthermore he could be dead in some playthroughs which means he might not be able to show up and you would need a replacment character.
I know he turned up in the comics but that was based on him not being romantically involved with Hawke which as I said wouldn't work well if they made cannon. It would be steam rolling a choice for absolutely no reason. I suppose if he is an unromaced fenris they could but it seems like alot of work for very little payoff. I am not sure if the comics were written by the same people who write for the game either so they may not even care about it or just disregard it.

She was a child during the Fifth Blight, right? So she'd be late twenties or older by the time DA4 arrives (assuming we're right about the time skip). Sera was the child behind the door from the Red Jenny Quest in DAO.
Speaking of Sera. I think she has a good chance to appear in Tevinter. In a Trespasser banter Bioware established that Sera has been in Tevinter capital city Minrathous.
I hope not because first it doesn´t make such sense for Divine Victoria to be in Tevinter and second Bioware have to consider three characters and make good charactermodels for them. Also in this case they could also bring back them as Non Divine. Sorry but to be honest i really don´t want Leliana in DA 4.
think Bringing Fenris back would be extremly problamatic for long time fans like me. I don´t see any problems because i always imagined that Fenris is shown in DA 4 with the Fog Warriors. And they are the reason why a non slave Fenris left Hawke and his friends for some time. He felt guilty what he did in the past and that he slaughtered them against his will. Also Slave Fenris must show up with his Master Danarius as cameos if the player selects this in his / her personal world state. And it would be a waste use the Fenris just for Slave Fenris.

The fog warriors are not in Tevinter but in Sehron which is under qunari control. If we go there then it might make sense. I never read tevinter nights so I can't comment on it but during DAI Fenris was fighting slavers which was fighting Tevinter. So as soon as the women/man that he loves comes back and can be with him he decides to take off and join the fog warriors? It just doesn't make sense. So unless they do a situation like they did in DAI with hawke and three potential wardens I don't see how.
Remember that DAI was made five years or so after DAO so having a character from that game in DAI made sense and the vast majority of people who played DAO would be playing DAI and have a very good memory of DAO. DA4 on the other hand is likely gonna take place a decade after DA2 and thus many people will have foregotten most of the stuff about fenris. I don't know how many people read the comics but I am pretty sure it is a very small number compared to the amount of people who will play DA4. Thus the vast majority of people have not seen Fenris in over a decade and in both real life and gaming it has been a busy decade. So they would be bringing in a character who can either be a slave, dead,a friend of hawke,or Hawkes lover to put in a potential role. It seems like a very risky idea for very little pay off to me. Because unless Fenris is a friend of hawke he either cannot or should not be in sehron fighting with the fog warriors. As for him showing up as a slave I see that as even less likely since most people didn't give him back to that magister and if you didn't give fenris back you killed that magister. I can't even remember the guys name and I beat that game so many times I lost count..maybe fifty times. For most people who played DA2 they likely beat it at most ten times and likely far less. To put it in perspective DA2 came out for xbox 360 and the stuff on that console generation, DA4 will be two console generations ahead of the console that DA2 was released on. That is how long it has been since DA2 has been released.
I am not saying they "couldn't" do it since they can do whatever they want. I am saying they shouldn't do it. But we should know soon since they will be brining their VA's in next year I think.

There is also a good chance we will meet Maevaris as well but, again, I don't think she would be a permanent companion; maybe a temporary one for certain quests. Still, if we are going to have a Magister/Lucerni companion I do think it is more likely to be Maevaris than Dorian. However, given both their level of expertise, for either to be a companion it would have to be at a later stage, which is why I feel a temporary companion for a specific quest or quests would be more likely (and believable). I think that Maevaris has a good chance to be a DA 4 companion because i honestly believe that Bioware want to do a transgender companion for DA 4. Also after Krem who was alright but not that interessing its time for a bigger role for a transgender character. And last but not least the last transgender character (i haven´t played Anthem) was Hainly Abrams. A character which Bioware have to apologize.
I agree and hope so too. I love Varric in DA 2 and i really like him in DAI but in my opinion he shouldn´t be in DA 4. Only be mentioned by some characters. The worst thing that Bioware could do is making him a companion again. Even i as a huge Varric Fan have to say: No thanks not for a third time in a row" I would argue that the DA 4 party needs someone who represents the Inquisition and i can´t possible think of a better (and easiest for Bioware to write) character from the Inquisition faction than Lace Harding.
I just hope that Bioware won´t kill Cullen off because of the scandalous behavior of his voice actor Greg Ellis. If Bioware really needs Cullen for reasons it would suggest to use his replacement Captain Rylen instead. But to be honest i can´t think of any good reason why Bioware would need Cullen or Rylen. I agree with you on Blackwall but The Iron Bull has a chance to appear. Of course only as a cameo but for a scene with Dorian why not? Well it seems that Bioware want to explore the Crows much more in DA 4 so it isn´t far fetched to see Zevran for similiar quest like the one in DA 2. What no love for Sten as new Arishok or for temp companions Tallis? Thanks for mention Shale. Her back-transformation into a dwarf to make a cool optional side quest.

I know but i believe that Seheron has a pretty good chance to be a location in DA 4. DAI take place during 9:41-9:42 Dragon, Trespasser in 9:44 Dragon and DA 4 most likely in 9:52 Dragon. So a lot of time has passed where he can be with his beloved Hawke and friends. And reason for leaving them for a short time is to help the Fog Warriors because he could never made his peace without making it good with Fog Warriors. You can make the same argument for every character. For example was Loghain really needed to be in DAI? I don´t think so.[/div] By the i think you see Fenris in a wrong way. Of course Fenris would never an important character again. Its likely that without using the Keep he won´t exist but a small cameo for Slave Fenris and at best a role like Alistair, Loghain or Stroud for Non Slave Fenris with a new Fog Warrior as replacement if he is dead or slave.
Again how many people have seen Loghain in DAI? And Fenris survives much more often DA 2 than a Loghain in DAO.
Its Magister Danarius.
You have to unterstand that Bioware want to make the world states more unique. So why not show Fenris as a slave for short cameo? Its fun and they also did a similiar thing with Alistair for example. How many player have seen Drunk Alistair in DA 2? Not many but like i said its fun and make the game more unique if you play this that way.
And about the Dragon Age Keep and the Internet aka Dragon Age Wiki?

I didn't see a reason to bring loghain in either. My point wasn't that people couldn't find out who fenris is it is that most wouldn't care.

Second another example Kieran doesn´t exist if you don´t use the Keep.
And third does it really matter if we know certain characters or not? I would argue that many DA 2 players haven´t played the Dalish origin and therefore don´t know Merrill or can´t remember the short time with Isabela. Same goes for Stroud in DA 2. Or how many people have read the novel Asunder with Cole in it?
Therefore i don´t see any reason why Fenris couldn´t show up in DA 4 if he isn´t dead. Also if Bioware really want character XYZ to back why are back in some form or the other.

Stroud was a very minor character in DA2. Also dalish origin was in DAO not DA2. Issabela and Merill and Cole were full time companions not just showing up for a little bit. Again I never said they can't bring back Fenris I just said they shouldn't. To clarify they shouldn't in my opinion. But then I have been wrong before.

I think Bringing Fenris back would be extremly problamatic for long time fans like me. First of all he could be chilling with Hawk and after hawk is now situated and safe in kirkwall there is absolutely no reason for Fenris not to be there with her/him. Love doesn't have to last forever and they could have broken up inbetween games, especially considering the time skip. I'd probably even prefer that to shoehorning in more complicated reasoning. I think that Maevaris has a good chance to be a DA 4 companion Isn't Maevaris like 50+ now?

They are just examples. I also could have mentioned Samson, Corypheus (DLC!!!), Connor, Dagna or even Anora for DAI. Anora has nothing to do in DAI. The Inquisitor can´t really talk to her.
By the way we are still talking about Fenris who is one of the popular romances and controversial characters in the series and not a character only hardcore fans knows about.
Isn't Maevaris like 50+ now? So? Do you remember Wynne??? Note i don´t think that Maevaris is a romance option but for a mage companion i don´t see any problems.

Speaking of Sera. I think she has a good chance to appear in Tevinter. In a Trespasser banter Bioware established that Sera has been in Tevinter capital city Minrathous. It's stuff like this that makes Thedas seem very small instead of thousands of miles from top to bottom (which is what we were told in DAO). What business would Sera have up in Minrathous? Like I say above, whilst there might be a Red Jenny cell up there, each group has their own territory and their underworld activities were pretty small scale compared with groups like the Carta or the Crows. Travel from south of the Waking Sea right up to Minrathous would be expensive and dangerous, so not something you would do without a good reason and for the life of me I can't think what reason Sera would have being up there on her own. However, if she is in a relationship with Dagna, then I could see the pair of them being invited to Tevinter, possibly by Dorian but anyone who had heard about Dagna being a dwarf with knowledge of magic, which would be a novelty in Tevinter if nothing else. Of course only as a cameo but for a scene with Dorian why not? Basically the amount of resources it would use up what with animating his avatar and getting Freddie Prinz back to voice him. They gave enough attention to that relationship with the multiple slides at the end of Trespasser. Also you will recall that the only way Dorian could get to see him was by meeting up in an estate on the border with Nevarra, because even Dorian couldn't get away with inviting him to Minrathous or anywhere deep in Tevinter territory. Now the Antaam are in open war with them again, I think it even less likely that the Iron Bull would be welcome anywhere in Tevinter, so it is highly unlikely that we will see him, even in a cameo. What no love for Sten as new Arishok or for temp companions Tallis? I was thinking more about people who we might be on good terms with and Sten as Arishok probably isn't going to be among them but it is a possibility that we could encounter him and maybe even persuade him to aid us. I never liked Tallis and would rather see that nice Qunari lady as our contact with the Qun/Ben'Hassrath (although of course she could be Vashoth). Still since I think the Ben'Hassrath are likely to be involved with us in some way then both Tallis and Gatt are possibilities if they want to have returning members of that branch of the Qun rather than someone completely new. Both of them had original connections with Tevinter as slaves, so could be sent back there undercover and then run into our PC.

Still since I think the Ben'Hassrath are likely to be involved with us in some way then both Tallis and Gatt are possibilities if they want to have returning members of that branch of the Qun rather than someone completely new. while this isn't confirmed we are likely visiting more then just Tevinter. Of course there are a lot of issues bringing Bull back then just that but he could easily be hanging out in Antiva. Though in thinking about this I realized that Dorian is decidedly *not* quantum.

Hmm, I think horned guys might not be entirely welcome there either. Certainly not someone turning up out of the blue who hadn't been there before. Bull wouldn't be on his own either but with the Chargers and I'm not sure how the Crows view mercenary groups not connected with them in some way. Most of their work prior to joining the Inquisition was in Orlais and Nevarra and the borders with surrounding nations. Antiva would be some way out of their usual patch.

Oh no I am not having characters I love break up and if bioware does that I gurantee it would piss off a massive chunk of the fanbase and not just the nitpicking pain in the a** people either.
While I don't know alot about Maeveris I am gonna go with the cliche old people need love too.

Again you just can cut my (and others) post and quote only the part you wanna talk about. Yeez is that really that hard to do?!?
They are just examples. I also could have mentioned Samson, Corypheus (DLC!!!), Connor, Dagna or even Anora for DAI. Anora has nothing to do in DAI. The Inquisitor can´t really talk to her.
By the way we are still talking about Fenris who is one of the popular romances and controversial characters in the series and not a character only hardcore fans knows about.
Isn't Maevaris like 50+ now? So? Do you remember Wynne??? Note i don´t think that Maevaris is a romance option but for a mage companion i don´t see any problems. Yes it is hard to do and I am lazy so I will not cut out your post. Again Fenris is a character from a decade ago and unless you played DA2 or read a dragon age comic you will not know who he is. SO yeah only hardcore fans will have a good memory of him as I doubt anyone who isn't a hardcore fan buys the comics or has played DA2 in the past five years.

You can make the same argument for almost all of the characters. If Bioware really want Sera back they will find ways to include her.
Maybe they like to toy with a much mature Sera who always a girlfriend / wife if they don´t broke up.
Unfortunately the same could happen for Varric. Like you i really don´t want him in any major role in DA 4 but Bioware see it different. Only they decides which characters are back. If you said to me before DAI release that Bodahn and Sandal weren´t in DAI but a pretty minor character like Samson i won´t have believed you. My point for Sera is with the Trespasser banter they establish that she was already in Tevinter for some reason. Bioware really likes Freddie Prinze Jr in the role and he often tweet about this role. I still think they could use him again for a cameo outside of Tevinter. Like colfoley already have mentioned Tevinter is very likely not the only place we will visited in DA 4. I don´t believe that Bioware will make Sten and Tallis as villians. Also i hope that we get the option to support the Qunari. Please no we already have 3 Qunari companions (Iron Bull is more Qunari than a real Tal-Vashoth) i would much prefer her as a true Tal-Vashoth for the entire game.
Though in thinking about this I realized that Dorian is decidedly *not* quantum. Dorian is a romance companion so he should be a quantum character.

Yes it is hard to do and I am lazy so I will not cut out your post.
If you just said that you were lazy i would have believe you. But come on cutting posts isn´t really that hard. Even on smart phones. Again does it really matter for those players if they know Fenris a character who is more popular than you think. He gets a small introduction and everybody will know what Fenris is like as a character.
And speaking of Hardcore Fans. Maybe you are right and newbies won´t have to interact with Fenris because he doesn´t exist in default aka not using the Keep. So what? Bioware still can bring him back for those players who use the Keep and select that Fenris is alive.
Why? Because they done this stuff before in bringing back character they like. And that´s the key they can possible bring every character back. Even dead characters for flashbacks. The only character i would definitely rule out is the Hero of Ferelden plus maybe Hawke and that´s it.
By the way our argument that it is a decade is moot. Maybe i would agree with you on lesser known and not longer used characters like Ariane & Finn but Fenris?
Come on especially after they used him in the comics and explore his backstory i won´t dare to say that it isn´t a bad sign.
No it´s a pretty good sign.

Its pretty annoying to see the whole post again for just 1-3 sentences.
And to answer your question. It doesn´t have anything to do with costs. Its just in Dorian case that Bioware won´t use him as companion ever again. That´s it. But Dorian is one of the quantum characters who is always alive in every possible world state so Bioware can use him in any form they want expect as returning companion of course.

I'm not going to do that because that is not how I post. If you want to impose rules for debate on people and how they can reply to you then you should be careful who you debate with. Well I didn't say he would be a returning companion. In fact I would be a little surprised if anyone from the previous games returns as a companion. I mean it seems obvious that someone from Inquisition should since BioWare has a tendency of doing that but then again that could just as easily be...just for an example...Charter or Harding. But yeah I don't expect any companions to be re used for DA 4.

Frankly all BioWare characters are basically some level of quantum at this point...erm all companions I should clarify... The issue at this point is whether or not and how much said companions are and it just strikes me that, unless I am mistaken from one of those alternative playthroughs that I never got to, Dorian pretty much always ends up in Tevinter. Yes he and the Inquisitor may have a romance arc going but such a long distance relationship (unless we are prepared to suggest that he can just sneak the Inquisitor into Tevinter, which should logically have about as many problems as Iron Bull), would likely mean not relly having a relationship. They can talk but unless Dorian can somewhow make frequent trips to the South, which has already been discussed as being problematic, they'd be kind of doomed from a romantic angle. So, not entirely a big deal for a cameo or even significant involvement in the plot which remains likely given his position in Tevinter and given how he is essentially one of the leaders of the opposition.
