Last night I played until 6am in the morning. So many decisions to make. I thought the Mass Effect games had tough decisions, but this game has got them in spades. Here are three I remember, one, bringing Alvin to either Triss or Shani. The problem is Geralt likes both of them and me I have a weakness for redheads. So I went with Triss. Because even though I never played a Witcher game I know who Triss was, didn't know she was a sorceress but I always seen her depicted next to Geralt. Plus since she's a sorceress I feel she can protect Alvin better. The next decision was finding a Knight's sister who was bitten by a vampire. I found her at a brothel working as a lady of the night literally. Apparantly she indeed was bitten by a vampire. The Madam spoke to Geralt as if she knew him since he was suffering from amnesia he did not recall her or her man. She asked me to protect the girl and side with the vampires. As a Witcher my mind said no, but my gut told me she was telling the truth. So after the love sequence Geralt is confronted by the Knight that hired him, a fight ensues and the Knight and his men are killed. Both the Madam and the sister thanked Geralt, but this made him question his ability as a Witcher. Last big decision was side with the humans and the Order or side with the non humans and the Scoia'tael? At first Geralt wanted to remain neutral, but the elf told him he must make a choice. So remembering how humans look down on both non humans and mutants, Geralt sided with the Scoia'tael. But he let it be known that he was a Witcher first and foremost and that was his top priority. Well you will enjoy the second game in particular a certain red head has a major part in it. Yep lots of decisions that impact the game but if you don't want to stress read the spoiler, it is a fairly generic but large spoiler in a sense. Your decisions IIRC even if you import a save which for some reason I can't remember you should do, do not carry over into TW2. The start of which is I think one of the best starts to a game. That's alright I'll just keep playing the game as is and live with my choices. It adds to the replay value. As for TW2 not importing our decisions, I thought it did because when I was downloading the mods @gaben7 recommended one of the top files was a TW1 saves file.

As for TW2 not importing our decisions, I thought it did because when I was downloading the mods @gaben7 recommended one of the top files was a TW1 saves file. As I mentioned importing a save is important but I cannot remember why but the decisions you make in TW1 have no carry over effect if I remember correctly, TW2 makes some assumptions for you but it was 2014 when I last played it was a long time ago. So ran off to Google and this sums it up and shows I was wrong: "In terms of equipment, an import isn't much of a boost. Especially when the game is patched, you get the DLC armor pieces and the Blue Stripe jacket, which are better than what you import. You should also get round about 1% of your save game money on top of the regular starting amount. What's nice, is that previous decisions from TW1 take effect in TW2. Not groundbreaking, but they are referenced, which makes it interesting. So, I would do the import, although you won't benefit much from better equipment (except maybe the Moonblade)." The benefits of importing a save as @gaben7 may have been pointing out it is that it may be a 100% PT save where everything has been done, collected etc. so that when you import it will carry some items etc. over.

No problem, I still have a long way to go to finish Witcher 1. I am on Chapter III and I read somewhere maybe here? That the game had 5 chapters. So two more to go before I can play TW2. The only thing I know is that TW2 has controller support on PC which is good for me, because many dumb deaths I had was because my fingers are too big for the keyboard, and when I try to dodge to the right by pressing "D" I accidentally hit either "F" or both "D" and "F", making Geralt just stand there like an idiot. OH! I do not fear the swamp and it's poisonous spewing monsters no more. I leveled Geralt to have 50 poison resistance and when he drinks a blindweed potion it bumps it up to 120 resistance.

I was actually talking about a save editor. It is out there, works well. Decisions definitely carry over between saves. It isn't perfect, but it is similar to what you may have heard. I have played... A lot. Just finished the game actually I ended up failing several minor quests. Never found a sword I was looking for. Got almost every other trinket, and wasn't a dumb Witcher at the end who kept getting surprised by what had been going on around him. The combat became very tedious for a while, but the story is worth it and W2 is now waiting for me, with decisions I've made reflecting better my interpretation of the scene and lore. Things I noticed? Tach monkeys. From KotOR, maybe from earlier BioWare games as well? They are in Mass Effect 1 as well. There is a peasant whistling the Imperial March from Star Wars. The combat music at times is very similar, to what plays in some combat scenarios in Cyberpunk. "Living World" is what CDPR does. I didn't really realize it or appreciate it until this replay of TW1. Just having the NPCs doing their own thing and following day/night patterns, random weather, it is a template they have expanded on and hopefully will continue to improve on but it works well. For the time, it was a massive game and accomplishment for the studio. I encountered lots of crashing, until I realized it was probably memory related. Patched the game with NTCore's 4GB patch. That stopped most of the crashing, not all. It is rough around the edges a bit, and old, but a fine game. Hope you are having fun!

It is rough around the edges a bit, and old, but a fine game. Hope you are having fun! Yesterday night when I first launched the game it crashed multiple times, even though I had already used the 4gb patch. But after a few tries I was able to play for a few hours straight. I was actually talking about a save editor. It is out there, works well. No, I know. I was just saying that when I was looking up the mods you recommended. I was looking at the popular TW1 mods of all time and among the top was the TW1 save file.

Last night was another all nighter with The Witcher 1. Don't remember all of it though. I remember destroying three Salamandra slave camps in the swamps. I remember completing the contracts for the Graveirs, Cockatrice, and Kikimore's. I remember finding the lost little boy in the swamp. I remember recruiting the Scoia'tael and infiltrating the hidden Salamandra base. Once it was found I remember dying a lot because I thought we had to take the Salamandra head on. But no, I just had to activate the portal on the left side to let the Scoia'tael through. They fought the bandits while Geralt went for the Professor and Mage (Javad?). They used a cheap shot on Geralt and fled. He got up and chased them. The mage leaves the Professor behind to fight Geralt. The Professor is killed but not before the cave collapses. At the bottom there was a Kikimore Queen! I died many times trying to fight it. Then I thought maybe I should keep running. Ran like hell past Kikimore workers and warriors the cave collapsed trapping or killing the queen. Oh the one who has been making all of the illegal edicts was the Princess, Geralt was whisked away to Chapter IV and was put on a beautiful island.

Forgot to mention Vincent the guard captain is a werewolf. I let him live because he only attacked the Salamandra. He had a chance to kill a merchant and ignored him. He also ran from Geralt instead of standing his ground and try to kill him. It was these actions that led me to believe that he was unlike other werewolves.

There is a way to cure him, if you're interested.
My first PT I killed him but second PT I cured him instead.

My first PT I killed him but second PT I cured him instead. I know I gave Carmen the Fool's Parsley to knit a sweater for him, but all he did was transform and rip it apart she said. I stopped looking for the cure because I remembered he said he could do more as a werewolf and strike fear into bandits. I believed him because he did not sound threatening and he had plenty of time to kill innocents but he didn't.

Princess Adda, a delight.
Seems like you have been paying attention to side quests, which is good. Her character has many potential outcomes.
The control changes from W1>W2 are jarring. Couldn't believe my old keybinds, threw them out and started over. Easier to bind mouse buttons with W2 configuration tool though.
First time trying the "über-sampling" lol. Game does look good - was graphically way ahead of its time.

Seems like you have been paying attention to side quests, which is good. Her character has many potential outcomes. Most of the side quests I've done so far are really well done. The only simple ones are the contracts. Talking about contracts in Chapter III I had a contract to kill a Wyvern. Since the only ones I saw where with the druids I figured I would see some in Chapter IV, since some of the quests from previous chapters carry over to the next. But now that I am in Chapter IV it looks like I'm somewhere completely different and the contract did not carry over.

Missed the alghoul contract, and the Graveir I think. A couple others, those were in the log longest. The game is old school. It doesn't hold your hand very much, so discovery and exploration (just like in DAO) are rewarded in organic ways. Today, I am modding TW2. I realized that several of the mods I want to install ( talyn82 - I found more mods at Nexus for this game that I want to try) utilize the same filename. This is problematic for most people, but falls into the one area of modding I am competent at; script editing and merging. My "biggest" mods have been patches for other mods to make them play well together, so this is in my wheelhouse. The scripting language is pretty straightforward. Figuring out RedTools took a minute, but just one. Today, I am merging feature from a couple mods into one player.ws file, so that I can compile the dzip in question. This dzip has already been altered to include pieces from other mods, where no editing was necessary. Will test, and if it works as expected I will release to Nexus and watch it get 7 downloads before the universe implodes.

I grew up with games that didn't hold my hand. But I won't lie I've gotten used to the modern convenience of having some kind of map marker point the way. Today, I am modding TW2. So last night I explored the island some more, found a village called Murky Waters. Apparently there's going to be aa big wedding soon. Alvin was teleported by Triss to the bride Alina. Ran into Dandelion who told me about Alvin in the first place. Did some contracts am currently hunting Devourers need ten of their teeth for Abigail who is also in the village. Met a new race of creatures called the griggs, they look like Gnomes. Did a quest for them involving a cat harness. Killed one of the fish peoples priest named Teyu, gave his head to the village leader. Went to the area with the Hermit he gave me a quest to purify a druid shrine that was nearby. Went at night was attacked by 3 wraiths and the King of the Wild Hunt, ran to the shrine and put the mandrake into the fire, then after a tough fight killed the wraiths only for 3 more to appear with the King of the Wild Hunt again, had to run to the shrine and put the mandrake into the fire again. Had to do this one more time before cleansing the shrine. Oh, found a piece of some legendary Witcher armor need to find two more pieces. Currently am stuck a bit looking for Julian to tell him about Alvin. Can't find Julian.

Completed Chapter IV: Here are the highlights. Celina killed her sister Alina out of jealousy in turn Adam killed Celina. Alina turned into a noonwraith and Celina turned into a nightwraith. Told Julian he did not seem heartbroken. Told me to see if Geralt can bring them some peace. Asked Abigail she said Alina had a special mirror that was broken, if I put it back together and show Alina her reflection it should let her rest in peace. Found the broken pieces and put mirror back together. Then showed it to Alina she was still in denial and still was looking forward to the wedding. Went back and spoke to Abigail she said to take Dandelion and have him sing her a song about her condition. Went back to Alina with Dandelion and together him and Geralt recited a poem, which made Alina realize what had happened. Then Celina appeared and together they disappeared into the afterlife.
Brought peace between the humans and fish people. Had to see the Lady of the Lake and she told me to bring her two gifts. One from Julian and one from the fish people priest. I got them and she was pleased. She then gave Geralt a drop of her blood to offer to the shrine. Placed blood in shrine and fought Dagon and his priests. After a long fight and a lot of dodging Dagon was dead. Went back to the Lady of the Lake and told her. She then knighted Geralt and gave him an ancient silver sword which belonged to a long dead famous Witcher. When leaving was confronted by Berengar who gave a half ass atonement for his crimes. Geralt told him to get out of his face and they fought. Geralt won and left to the main island.
Back in the village was confronted by a female knight who said her men were ready to attack the elves, and that the elves were holding the people of the village hostage including Alvin. Foud Dandelion he agreed to wait behind one of the huts. Spoke to Toruviel and tried to broker peace. Once Geralt chose to side with the Scoia'tael she agreed to let him and Alvin go. While they were leaving the elves were attacked a full on battle started. Geralt helped in killing the knights. During the battle Alvin teleported away. Geralt fled to the boat where Dandelion was waiting for him. Together they set sail to Old Vizima.

Forgot to say The Witcher games are on sale @ www.gog.com. I prefer gog.com over Steam because the games come loaded with extras, plus you can download their offline installers and play them offline like in the old days. Plus right now The Witcher III Game of the year edition is on sale for 9.99 US dollars. www.gog.com
