The character name seems to be edited out if it was in top left corner. Yeah this makes sense because with a name this would pretty easy for EA to find the leaker.

The character being pointy-eared heavily implies character creation will continue to include race options - at least, elven. That makes me happy because I didn't want to have a plot that's going to delve heavily into and deal with elves, and not have the option to have an elven protagonist. It would be the worst time to not have that option. I'd be sad if they cut the rest, but I'd accept so long as we have the elven option (I'd say the same if the plot delved into and dealt with dwarves, and we'd have to sacrifice qunari and elven option for a dwarf one)
Of course, everything is speculative until we see official-gameplay footage so this may imply nothing.

Yeah, I saw the name Davrin in the screenshots and recognised the name. Wondered where I'd heard it, thinking it was probably a minor agent or soldier NPC from DAI, thanks for this, that's where I saw it! I wonder if the dwarven woman mentioned is 'Bellara' the other character name we got in that BTS video a few years back. Could be. We only know that leaker had two companions "another knight dude and a female dwarf rogue" I am convinced that knight dude is Davrin and the female dwarven rogue well is not Varric that´s for sure. Could be Bellara, Harding or someone else but right now we only know that we will get a female dwarven rogue.

So atleast you can chose to play as human and elvish character. I would bet also as a Dwarf and Qunari. So yeah the race options are back.
Could still be cut but almost impossible in my opinion.

After looking at the screen shot, I'm hoping that shield stays in game I kind of like the enchantment it has by the Mournwatch granting additional resistance against Spirits.
I wonder who the Mournwatch is?

Hmh, we can't rule out this was, now cut out, online feature. I highly doubt it the leaker would have mentions if this had been online. It looks Singleplayer to me. MP features as in classes/skills/UI created for the MP version of the game they haven't replaced yet in that build, not that his plays session was multiplayer. Like the "Elven Knight/Grey Warden" that sound like the DAIMP character/class titles and the leaker said his character class was Knight not Grey Warden anyway.

This isn't looking good, in my opinion, as it appears that they're moving away from tactical RPGs with good roleplaying and toward single-player MMOARPGs with each game. Are we getting the true "Dragon Effect" or "Mass Dragon"? If that's true that's to me quite unfortunate as they're depriving series elements that I enjoyed and what drew me to it. That's without even touching upon all the potential technical and story issues that can and most likely will end up in the game, especially considering that a lot of major figures from the old guard have left over the years. *sighs*
BioWare always wanted to move away from tactical RPGs.
You are misusing the term MMO.
BioWare has revealed years ago they are going for God of War 2018 style game for Dragon Age Dreadwolf.
If Bioware was always trying to get away from tactical RPGs, why did they create the DAO tactical RPG, as well as the sequel tactical RPG and the DAI hybrid? So, unless you mean "always" in relation to this game, and even then I'm not sure how true that is (I'm not sure if they made such statements that they claimed they wanted), either way, that doesn't really address my criticisms and only brings up the existence of prior intent. How am I misusing the term "MMO"? Unless you're referring to the blatant oxymoron of single-player MMAORPG that has me pointing it out, that game appears to be a single-player game with a lot of MMOARPG elements. This was already somewhat of an issue with side quests in Inquisition, as most side quests were as if they were done for an MMORPG with little ability to roleplay and more for grinding strictly, and very few side quests had an interactive story behind them role-wise and consisted of just fetch quests or similar types of filler quests.

MP features as in classes/skills/UI created for the MP version of the game they haven't replaced yet in that build Could be for me highly unlikely if we look where the party is at. There are pretty near Weisshaupt so yeah this screams Grey Wardens. So why not accept the obvious conclusion? I don´t think the leaker or maybe his / her friend is so into DA lore: "The player character is an Elvish "Knight" Class (the character screen actually says they are a mid-level Grey Warden), they've got a sword and a shield. They also have two party members, another knight dude and a female dwarf rogue." For someone who doesn´t know what a Grey Warden is Knight dude is not a bad description. The playercharacter which the leaker or the friend had played was a grey warden along with another grey warden (has to be Davrin) and a female dwarven rogue.
Could change but again i doubt it.

Like the "Elven Knight/Grey Warden" that sound like the DAIMP character/class titles and the leaker said his character class was Knight not Grey Warden anyway. The article did say they could detect traces of the old multi-player aspects that were still around, so it is possible they were play testing using an old multi-player quest that the Devs were deciding on whether or not to transfer over into the single player game.

I can't remember off the top of my head, I think Mark Darrah said that only a tiny proportion of players used 'tactical view'. If that is true I can understand why they would move away from it. Makes me sad though, I enjoyed DAO combat the most and would have enjoyed DAI's more if the camera had been a real tactical camera instead of that thing that got stuck on land or obscured by enviroment... To me, it's a reassuring glimpse of a game coming together. I have to agree

Saw some screenshots and gif...and it's fine? There's not a lot, I guess it reminds me of the Warden Fortress part of Here Lies the Abyss. If it's not MP stuff, I guess being in weisshaupt, playing a elven Grey Warden is pretty cool. I've read we're in a base with a full Eluvian system, and I don't know that I like the sound of that.

I'm open to what they are trying to do with the gameplay, but I'm REALLY hoping they keep the UI clean and aesthetically pleasing. It looks like they are. Very happy to see a nice font chosen and actual lowercase letters. The DA Inquisition UI was AWFUL with it's clunky sharp angles and all bold letters for every text in the game. DAI just looked unfinished.
This footage looks very early, so hopefully now that this leak is out, they can come forward with a more updated sneak peak at the gameplay.
Also, is it just me, or does the player character and NPCs/enemies look miniature? Maybe the character shown in the video is a dwarf? Hope that's not a human. Cautiously optimistic Dragon Age fan here, hoping for the best.

I've been zooming in and trying to hone in on as much detail as possible on the screenshots and I have to say on the inventory screen the textures on the PC's face are so good, I'm also super happy the elven body rig is wider than in DAI. It was so weird being this stick thin character with the worst posture, I remember their shoulders always being hunched forward in cutscenes I was like GIRL STAND UP STRAIGHT. I hope it's not the same situation as with DAI where they released those sculpted busts of each race and they looked so detailed and unique and then you got into the game and it was like yeah no bit more generic than I was hoping for. I'm very excited though

We don't even know would next protagonist be a Grey Warden. You can use Grey Warden Armor in DA2 and DAI after all. We do know that the playercharacter is a male elven Grey Warden. This screenshot says it all.
Are other origins possible? Yes but one if not the only option is to play as Grey Warden or i guess become one after some quests.
Some takeaways I have from this image, assuming it'll be somewhat translated into the final product: 1) Weapons look like they can be upgraded several times. If you look at the Templar Shield, it says it's at Rank 4, but there's also text underneath that says "Level 0". I'm unsure as to whether rank is describing the rarity of the weapon or not, but it seems as though every item piece in the game will allow for upgrades to some extent. This could be analogous to AC: Valhalla, where you can upgrade each piece of gear to level 10, increasing its base stats (possibly unlocking additional rune slots). 2) The use of the term "Guard" in the lower-left corner may indicate the mechanic returning. This could work similarly to DAI, and the "Guard" value indicates how much the maximum can be for your character (while building it up). 3) The portion on the left that says "Hero" makes me wonder if this is tied to your morality.

I've seen the leaks now myself this morning. Not sure what to think. Still think they are on track for a holiday 2023 or winter 2024 release. I guess that's because I have no idea when this alpha footage was recorded. For all I know they are much further along already as they certainly have been back at work since the fall holidays!
I wouldn't mind the God of War combat as that was a pretty fun game but I would want to see how much control they can give us over companions. I am curious as to whether there will be a Witcher influence at work here where we can choose our own attributes before a fight and our companions which might explain the two abilities the leaked characters have? Just a theory.
Anyway, if any good comes from this it might be in that it prompts BioWare to do their own information dump to set the record straight on things.

Varric trailer line: "The kind of person they'll never see coming" made me think. It doesn´t make that much sense if they are playing a Grey Warden. But be fair a normal low ranking Grey Warden isn´t that special but a complete nobody which no one see coming? Well i have doubts with statement but maybe Varric is lying here?

Another thing I've been meaning to mention is I didn't particularly like GoWs combat. Sure prefer my RPGs more A then D&D but games like GoW and Horizon really clunked.
Of course the ability wheel even the four to five we got is an indication that it may be inspiration, but it's not a clone.

I've never played Bioware games for the combat, so I'm not concerned about this change in gameplay direction (except for not being able to control your companions during combat, but I'll survive) but I really hope we get more ability slots. Holy shit, that limit annoyed the crap out of me, especially when I was playing a mage. There were times where I just snailed my way through a fight because I refused to teleport back to a horn, get the right-spec companion, and then run all the way back to where I was or refused to use a respec because I liked my ability set-up and didn't want to have to go through the task of losing it and then changing it back for the sake of one measly fight.
They can do whatever they want with the combat - just don't limit the ability slots. It's not challenging, it's not fun, it's not rewarding - it's just tedious and takes the joy out of leveling up.

I sure hope we can equip more than those three abilities on on the inventory screen we can see. I hated only having three at a time in Andromeda. Ideally we could get a full hotbar like DA:O but I know that's not happening.

reminds me of the first stuff we saw of Inquisition Ah yes, the Crestwood demo. This has been discussed on BSN at length over the years. I was thinking of something shown before that demo actually. There was some very early alpha stuff in a behind-the-scene video for DAI where some skills had their DA2 icons and Mage still had repulsion glyph in their arsenal. It was like 30 seconds long. I wish I remember in what it was. It might have been something from Game Informer or something like that. Saying that, the Crestwood demo is a good proof that the vertical slice used for playtesting that people are leaking info based on might not fully be in the final game...

My impressions: 1) That the character screen says Grey Warden: This implies that Grey Warden is one choice among many. I suspect that your character's organizational affiliation is part of character creation, or a choice that you make early on. I assume other affiliations will be LoF, Crows, Tevinter Templars, some group within the Tevinter Mage hierarchy, etc
2) Rook: Seems to be the PC's name, a la Hawke. Funny they keep picking bird names.
3) Weisshaupt: I guess it's not all about Tevinter, but it's hard to say if this visit to the GW HQ is due to the PC having the Grey Warden affiliation, or if perhaps the PC will visit there regardless of affiliation, and being a GW gives you a unique play experience there. Maybe you will visit locations associated with many affiliations. Like, Antiva.
4) Davrin: The two lines of dialog indicate that Rook and Davrin are on the same page, and I assume that since they are at Weisshaupt saying these things, they are trying to alert the GW leadership of the coming threat.
5) Combat: It's never been my highest concern. I am much more interested in the story and the characters.
6) The baddy: Is this some kind of Red Lyrium-infused dark spawn? In Weisshaupt? Goodness, things are going to hell around Thedas.

They said we travelled from a central hub using "mirrored portals" that I can only assume are eluvians so really that opens up travel to the entirety of Thedas. Morrigan's eluvian is in Skyhold and leads to a massive crossroads of other inactive eluvians so my bet is that's gonna come into play for travel for the PC.
