You know, I got to thinking about it, and I remember there used to be this lady who worked at BioWare in UI design or some shit who complained loudly on Twitter that they were making her play God of War as a reference point for the next game. She didn’t like it because of the controls and all the “toxic masculinity” displayed by Kratos, and I think she got some shit for it because this was after the AMAZINGLY SUCCESSFUL launch of Anthem, and it wasn’t a great look for someone working at BioWare to be slagging that year’s Game of the Year. Anyhow, what do you folks think about the nickname “God of Wolf”? Is the wordplay clever or a little too clumsy? I never heard about any complaints. I did read a tweet that they were using GoW as a touchstone and they were playing the game as a reference point, the whole reason I tried out God of War myself, but not in the vein of being complaining...just a matter of fact.

By the way what about the TGA Trailer 2020 speculation? Or why have some of you give already up on Crows and Veil Jumpers? The problem is we don't know how much of the concept art and trailer from 2020 was showcasing material that was intended for multi-player. Antiva/the Crows could have been a module for that, as could the Arcane Archer (possibly Veil Jumper, possibly Executor - could be both) that was seen in both in the trailer and subsequent concept art released in the early part of 2021. I'm hoping we shall get a better idea when issues 2 and 3 of the Missing are released, as the former features Crows and the latter Veil Jumpers. Since it is said to lead into the game, there is a chance that even if we don't meet the actual characters from the comic, it will give an indication of factions that may be working with us and thus potential companions. After all, the first issue had Grey Wardens, although Harding and Varric didn't actually tell them who they were looking for or why.

"It’s time for a new hero. No magic hand, no ancient prophecy. The kind of person they’ll never see coming." I don´t see what the Inquisitor or Hawke has do with Multiplayer characters. Also if those are really just MP characters why not just plural Heroes?
And last but not least this is highly subjective but does the trailer feel like a MP trailer? It looks and feels Singleplayer to me.

Multiplayer games that are story driven don't always put you as just a grunt among grunts. The story is focused on your character and you're the special one while all other players are grunts around you. It's a case of the players needing to suspend their disbelief somewhat because the story makes you out to be the only chosen one but the reality is that each player is the chosen one but in their own story. Eg: In SWTOR, if you play a Consular, you become the Barsen'thor. Every other Consular around you is the Barsen'thor in their story but in yours they're just random Consulars because you're the only Barsen'thor your story acknowledges.

I mean the last DAI MP allowed that but i would argue that those MP trailers are looking more MP like.
But still argue with "It’s time for a new hero. No magic hand, no ancient prophecy" it doesn´t make any sense that they mean MP characters by that. After the Inquisitor and Hawke well you play as some MP dudes come on.

I was referring to standalone MP games, not MP modes added to SP games like DAIMP for DAI. Suppose I should have been more clear but I did mention SWTOR. FF14 does this more obviously because you are the Warrior of Light but every other player around you is also the Warrior of Light in their own story but they're just random adventurers in your story. Now keep in mind that the 2020 video was not a trailer meant to show exactly what we'd get, it was just a teaser. There was no reason for them to make it clear it was going to be MP focused, if at that time it still was, if the footage they showed was MP focused, if it was just scrapped and repurposed from a MP build but was used for a wow factor in a new SP way yadda yadda. The DAIMP footage and trailer made it clear it was MP because that was to showcase this exact point. There's so much uncertainty that I don't think we need to look too deeply into what was said and seen in that teaser and make a hard conclusion until we get more clear detail from the horse's mouth. For all we know Varric may have been referring generally or he could have been referring specifically. Only the devs know for sure and I don't think they'll share that info anytime soon.

I was referring to standalone MP games, not MP modes added to SP games like DAIMP for DAI. Well these are different types of shoes. Dreadwolf had in all of its version a Singleplayer so it´s fair to compare a scrapped DAD MP more with the predecessor. Again i know i repeat myself why list previous Singleplayer protagonists before if those hasn´t do anything with Singleplayer? I don´t get i think you guys and gals are clearly overthinking it. Maybe its just as obvious as it sounds.
By the way does it really make sense that Bioware choose this teaser as more MP focus after Anthem and DAI MP? It´s just me but no with all of the published teasers i don´t see MP but more: "Look at our new Singleplayer game. About Multiplayer will might talk later because our fandom is not really in that." I also see in the Mass Effect Next teaser no MP elements.

Online RPGs have done single player storytelling where you are the hero (singular) since the start. But I here the idea is more that they just kept the class work/design they did for the multiplayer version when they switched to single player. So instead of picking Warrior, Mage or Rogue and getting a bunch of class specific trees, you pick a class that is a pre-defined build with skill tree(s) that is unique to it (certain skills might show up in more than one classes, but the whole tree(s) won't be duplicates) like in DAI MP.

Maybe they did it in order to separate what that version of DA4 was going to be from the previous games. It could have been an in universe thing, Varric talking to a new protagonist, or it could have been Bioware using Varric as a mouthpiece to talk to the players. That's the thing, I don't know, you don't know, no one knows, and 3 years later we still don't know. All we have is speculation on what each of our feeling is. The title reveal in that teaser was just "Dragon Age", however. No hashtag tease, no number, no subtitle. I remember that was what really confused everyone at the time, why call it just Dragon Age? Obviously older fans already knew what the game was going to be, new players would at least know there were previous DA games, so why market it as just the main series name? It was strange. In hindsight, it felt like an attempt to create something new but still recognizable, not a "look at our SP game" but "look at our new game, ooo Blight, ooo archers, ooo Varric, ooo magic, ooo Solas".

Because at time the EA marketing was not sure on what to call it. Nothing strange. And i say EA for a reason. If Bioware has some bigger control in name things you can bet they would stick with their name for DA 2 aka Dragon Age: Exodus. You should kept in mind what Bioware previous game has been. The big 10 years Live as Service game Anthem was a big flop for EA and Bioware. So yeah it´s look at our SP game or games had you guys which before Anthem had been more Singleplayer games.

If that's your take, fine. Mine's different, obviously. The only ones who can actually tell us the truth will likely keep mum on things for years, if they ever decide to tell us.
Anthem showed sign it was going to be a flop from its development, it wasn't a complete surprise it was going to end up the way it did. Still, EA pushed on it so I'm not sure EA tops weren't out of touch with reality for a long time after Anthem. I mean, DA4 was rebooted to be MP and use Anthem's code base despite the massive red flags during Anthem's development. It took years after that for them to say "fine, Bioware, make your stupid SP game".

She didn’t like it because of the controls and all the “toxic masculinity” displayed by Kratos. I haven't played any God of War games, in fairness, nor do I intend to, but based on what I've heard about them, isn't that kind of the point? Characters are allowed to and indeed should have flaws. Uh... mamma said to stay quiet if you ain't got anything good to say, so...

But still argue with "It’s time for a new hero. No magic hand, no ancient prophecy" it doesn´t make any sense that they mean MP characters by that. Come on, that was just them saying "Don't expect the Inquisitor to return", because after the way Trespasser was left, despite what they maintained they intended to the contrary, many people (particularly casual players who weren't aware of anything previously said to the contrary by Bioware) assumed they would still be playing the Inquisitor next game. So, they used the "rule of 3" to emphasise this was not to happen. 1] Time for a new hero; 2] no magic hand; 3] no ancient prophesy (we were called the Herald of Andraste because of the prophesy of Drakon). Now casual players who weren't aware of the behind the scenes turmoil would be expecting a single player game, so from that PoV "new hero" does seem to confirm it but it does seem odd that we had a whole plethora of information from mid 2020 to roughly mid 2021 and then very little, even though they promised more in 2022, before the confirmation they were reverting to the single player game. Why not reissue some of the stuff from 2020 that they now know they are going to run with? Why not reiterate that the 2020 trailer definitely showcased factions we would be working with? Still, I believe it is still there on the official site in connection with DA:D, so finger crossed it does relate to the single player game.

I agree that´s one if not the most imformation from the teaser trailer. But i must ask what have this "Don´t expect the Inquisitor to return" to do with many MP Characters? Well the Dreadwolf marketing hasn´t really even started.
The only thing Bioware have confirmed this that Solas is back and the name of the game is Dreadwolf. And a lot of things which are almost confirmed like Davrin plus tons of conceptarts.

Likely these two were on two different playtests and the game can evolve a lot over time. The screenshots & gif for example were from an April 2022 playtest.

He did share on Resetera months before, it just wasn't shared here. Does he have any proof more than this? Maybe this information were pretty vague and he had a lucky shot i don´t know. Its not nothing personal but i think that i need some info that only real playtester could have known.

I've seen Hogwarts Legacy gameplay to clear my head about the leak debate, then I look down on the right... and the game has the 4 abilities quickslots which look almost identical to the ones in the leak - which made me think about Dragon Age again. Argh By the way, regardless of what they'll do with Dreadwolf - what would be some cool ways to be able to access all (or most of) your & your companions abilities on the fly without a classic hotbar?

Something like the Witcher 3 tactical wheel could work though may be a little clunky. Or Andromedas favorites system without the restrictions.

From what I've heard Hogwarts legacy has the ability to unlock further "spell sheets" aka groups of 4 quick slots that you can scroll through. Like mea favourites if there wasn't a cool down on switch and 4 instead of 3. Which is actually what I've been hoping Dreadwolf would do since playing Andromeda as a way of having more then 8 quick slots available without having a long bar that makes things trickier for controllers. It's why I've not been to worried about the leak saying there are only 4 abilities, i suspect it's a case of 4 so far.
