For some of us, BioWare was the old guard who gave it heart and soul. As more of the old guard now get carved away and cast aside as if garbage after 20+ years of writing some of our most beloved characters such as Varric... then, yes, for those of us who loved THAT BioWare, that version of it is slowly dying/gone. As much as you ask for people to understand you, it would be pleasurable if you would try to understand where others are coming from as well. Jesus Christ, they weren't tossed away as trash.
Everything appears BioWare wanted to be as much as empathetic as possible while letting go off 50 people. I doubt BioWare nor EA wanted to lose these people, but cuts were needed.

I think Patrick was listing all of Mary Kirby's written characters (Varric, Vivienne, etc), is my interpretation of the post? That doesn't quite work because I don't think Mary Kirby wrote for any of the Baldur's Gate (Minsc) or Mass Effect (Liam, Kaidan, Jacob, Grunt, Joker) games. No it doesn´t. Mary was working for Bioware starting 2006.
So Lukas Kristjanson wrote those characters.

When someone who has worked at a company for that long and poured their heart and soul into it goes on the chopping block, yes, that's what it feels like. I speak from EXPERIENCE. I worked at a company that "technically" still exists today, but it was entirely gutted out over time thanks to a revolving wheel of acquisitions and mismanagement and now it exists as a literal shell of itself, no former employees who made it great left working there anymore, and it runs a bunch of AP wire content and filler instead of locally-written pieces. But, please, continue explaining to me how people should feel about it. Being "let go" feels like being thrown into the trash after all your years of efforts.

I'm talking in general terms here because I don't know names of people who decided to lay off 50 people.

Your personal experience doesn't describe what is happening in BioWare right now.
It is not revolving door situation, there are still plenty of senior staff there yet and a lot of juniors have been there a while.
I've also mentioned this before, why should junior staff get the axe when priorities change which leaves some seniors not be able to properly contribute. DAD has been developed for nearly a decade, writing on it is likely largely concluded. But due to soft reboot that removes online components, likely game mechanics and polishing needs to be top priority. Writers, despite their contribution being crucial for game narrative, are not gonna be able to help with coding. Since game is likely still a year away, with loss of SWTOR cash flow and last game being release 4 years ago, unfortunate move needed to be done here.
What was BioWare meant to do here? keep senior staff while laying off junior staff crucial for development, in much bigger numbers too as their salaries and benefits were lower?

For example, you can't sue corporation in Germany, only individuals. Good luck proving what individuals decided what in corporate structure.

You do not need a time machine though, The Witcher Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077, and MCC all prove as much.
All are having or have had a relaunch, with ongoing support that gets more people to invest in the franchise, Legendary Edition should have done the same thing.
You even had calls for it by big voices like Raycevick on YouTube and, an inbuilt group of other Youtubers that started making stuff specifically to cover Mass Effect and Dragon Age like MrHulthen much like Halo coverage, which could have contributed to the success of the franchises and gave Bioware something to do between releases.
Instead we hear of nothing for years but people leaving.

This has nothing to do with corporate personhood and quite frankly irrelevant to this thread topic. No the thread topic is that people have lost their job!!! This only thing that should matter especially it pretty much sicking if the big mother company makes a record quarter. But people still have to go because fuck the workers because the top needs more money in the world. Pure capitalism will always suck for the common folks.

This is a childish response and also wrong. People responsible for mismanagement has left BioWare years ago.
EA also gives their studio great amount of autonomy, BioWare especially so. Sorry time machine doesn't exist.
Also it was the Old Guard BioWare leadership that screwed it up, but clearly bunch of people here still refuse to believe that and only want to scapegoat EA suits and new gen heads.
The people getting fired—writers, technical directors, web developers, narrative programmers, etc.—are not Bioware's "leadership."

All of those games you picked from HAD huge issues with mismanagement during development. Sorry to break for you, but Mass Effect Trilogy and Dragon Age games all suffered from mismanagement and "BioWare magic" mentality, it simply finally failed with Andromeda and Anthem.

Reason for no Dreadwolf in mean time is because Anthem needed to be saves, which lead to original DAD being cancelled and rebooted. Then we got another soft reboot to remove online components, after success of Jedi Fallen Order. In mean time Mass Effect was put on ice due to BW Montreal being merged into EA Motive and NME didn't began development until like 2020 and it is still in pre-production. All the while BioWare still trying to save Anthem.
This is why we have nothing, because BioWare had nothing to show since Anthem release. We may finally soon get to see new from Dreadwolf, generally BioWare follows up bad news with good news soon after.
As example, after Anthem Next was cancelled, two days later DAD was confirmed to be SP only. So hopefully we will soon see something on DAD, Gamescom is still ongoing so?

You do not need a time machine though, The Witcher Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077, and MCC all prove as much. All are having or have had a relaunch, with ongoing support that gets more people to invest in the franchise, Legendary Edition should have done the same thing. You even had calls for it by big voices like Raycevick on YouTube and, an inbuilt group of other Youtubers that started making stuff specifically to cover Mass Effect and Dragon Age like MrHulthen much like Halo coverage, which could have contributed to the success of the franchises and gave Bioware something to do between releases. Instead we hear of nothing for years but people leaving. You're literally are asking for time machine, also hilarious examples! All of those games you picked from HAD huge issues with mismanagement during development. Sorry to break for you, but Mass Effect Trilogy and Dragon Age games all suffered from mismanagement and "BioWare magic" mentality, it simply finally failed with Andromeda and Anthem.

This is a childish response and also wrong. People responsible for mismanagement has left BioWare years ago.
EA also gives their studio great amount of autonomy, BioWare especially so. Sorry time machine doesn't exist.
Also it was the Old Guard BioWare leadership that screwed it up, but clearly bunch of people here still refuse to believe that and only want to scapegoat EA suits and new gen heads.
The people getting fired—writers, technical directors, web developers, narrative programmers, etc.—are not Bioware's "leadership." You can't fucking fire Casey Hudson because he resigned nearly 3 years ago.

And yes I picked examples of bad or incomplete launches that then became good ones with their relaunches, that was the whole damn point.

It was a remaster. While it could have used some more polish, that remaster was low resource project with high sales and gained reputation how to do remasters. I'm not sure what you're asking for?
Wait, that's why you compared it to MCC? Dude, most of Halo games were not released on PC and it was high graphical change of very old games. Ofcourse MCC sold high! MELE meanwhile was already on PC, improvements to ME2 and ME3 were minor and really only ME1 got massive improvements. Also MCC got active competitive MP scene. ME3 Co-Cop is just a typical horde mode with heavy grind focus to lure you into microtransactions( which you can't do anymore).
It was never gonna be like MCC, you're being absurd! Also MCC reputation degraded over time anyway as newer remaster releases were less polished with a lot of technical issues that were never patched. So it's not even a good example!
