The release date: Now it does say 'full reveal in Summer of 2024.' The safe bet is that will be a big showcase that will start the marketing for 2024 late or early 25...bla bla bla. But this game's marketing campaign remains utterly insane because another thing that is not being dicussed as much as the wishlists have dropped for the game. Without release dates sure but again this seems very odd for for a game that is supposed to release in a year. Again occum's razor probably applies here but my thought with this is too fold. The 'full reveal'...could actually be the game itself. Because it just seems odd that we're getting wishlists for the game for new news and stuff when the game isn't going to even have any more news till 'summer'...that's...just bizarre. Number 2 though keeping in mind the above maybe its going to be a really short marketing campaign as well and that 'summer' could be a much more vague term...like starting in April. Yes, safe bet is we're going to here more news around EA Play but its also possible that we will see more info earlier then that and the game will be out sometime right around summer. Keeping in mind to that they are obviously hedging their bets. While this is the most firm they have ever been on reveals...whereas if we don't hear new news by September then we can assume something major has gone wrong again...they are also being a bit cagey. So they are trying to do this where frankly all of theories are still on the table with this but I also wouldn't be the least bit surprised. Games appearing on a wishlist a year before the game releases is not unheard of. The Day Before was Steam's most wishlisted game half way through 2022, only to be released 3 days from now. Ark 2 appeared on steam last year, yet to be released. It's not an unusual thing. If you think the game might drop in Summer 2024 I don't know what to say other than you are, once again, setting yourself up for disappointment. Which you're perfectly able to do, sure. Don't know why you keep doing this to yourself though TBH. EDIT: Nobody says "summer" and means "april". What? I was going to say something different to start but once again it just strikes me as the clearer I think I'm being the less clear it seems I am. Because as I tried to say up there I am agreeing with the conventional wisdom. I am not expecting the game now in the first half of the year at all and that boat, for me, sailed sometime late last week. However what I am is considering the possibility, based on a few oddities within this announcement. As I usually like to do. This way I'm not surprised either way. At this point earliest we can expect the game is September and that is my story and I'm sticking to it. I pretty much worked through any residual dissapointment about the game not releasing any time soon when this trailer dropped. Also my logic behind the April comment was in regards to the whole fiscal years and cycles. 'April' from what I can piece together from what I know might be the start of EAs summer quarter.

There is no such thing as a Fiscal Summer quarter. Summer is weather based. If you want to be real specific, June 20 to Sept 22nd. You don't move the seasons around to match fiscal reports. If it's summer, it's summer.

Got a big surprise when I woke up this morning and saw a YouTube notification from the dragon age account - I really wasn't expecting a teaser! I actually gasped when we saw footage of Rivain, it's the country I've most wanted to see. I got temporarily WAY too excited cause I forgot that summer isn't at the end and begining of the year in the northern hemisphere and so for a moment thought there was a chance of the reveal being next month, this is what happens when I haven't had my morning tea yet With the Rivain line being "glory to the risen gods, they come to deliver this world" and the villainous voice over tevinter taking about reigning over the whole world I wonder if that's the voice of an Old God or Evanuris that has risen in Tevinter?

I thought something like that, too. The combination of that voice and the 'risen gods' gave me that vibe.

Maker it feels good to actually put this game on my Steam wishlist . In regards to the trailer: interesting that this seems to indicate that the Crows, Lords of Fortune and Wardens will be the three big factions, weird that there's no mention of Nevarra and/or Mortalitasi. Maybe they're saving them for later for some reason? Fingers crossed plans haven't changed in that regard. We know that the human commoner origin got cut really late in DAO development, after all. I hope something similar didn't happen to a whole playable faction - especially since I feel like we need a 'mage-y' faction to go with the Crows and the Wardens. Those three are probably going to be the MC potential origin countries and those three groups are all open to all races and classes. The Mortalitasi are all mages, so it wouldn't be as feasible to write a non-mage origin for them.

SO now that I have gotten up from my nap The trailer also did distinctly remind me in tone and style and purpose of this one: Which was basically the second one they did and not really the start of the marketing in earnest for Inquisition but just the tease of it if I remember correctly. Which does actually put me in mind that all the previous trailers to this could have been analogues in purpose to 'the Fires Above' which does seem to fit and now we got this little one which does the same purpose, shows off Thedas, teases more to come.

That last voice seems familiar but I can’t quite put it. Is that the VA for the sloth demon in Origins? Are you sure? The only thing of recent note I watched was Picard and he sounded very winded in that show. Meanwhile, the VA sounds kinda like Stewart when he did Oblivion.

Yeah, I'm kind of skeptical. Stewart is quite old and his delivery is starting to falter. The voice in the trailer sounds like a man in his prime. And it's not like everyone didn't grow up doing Stewart impersonations. His vocal ticks can be mimicked.

1. I'm just hoping that the presence of all these places doesn't boil down to just "This is the Rivain hub." "This is the Anderfels hub."
2. The Grey Warden part makes me think we may get a Warden companion again, since he talks about how they shouldn't hide.
3. This teaser for the teaser has a strange lack of Solas. I'm hoping he won't be sidelined somehow.
4. This is yet another teaser that makes it look like they're too afraid to tell us there is no game and they could only afford to pay the voice actors and illustrators.

Let me imagine. Its a nice model to imagine DW as a Northern Thedas version of DAO's main quest progression. Origin Regions/Origins, Tevinter/Ostagar+ (partially, major event), then to go roamin around, including to all areas covered by Origin Regions.

A lot of this game could really borrow from Dragon Age Origins structurally....which would not be a bad thing.

Since Varric and Harding have already reached Minrathous in The Missing, I expect we will be recruited by them in Minrathous, regardless of what our character's origin is. It's a large city that draws people from all over. There's no reason any of us wouldn't be there (Qunari might be more tricky to explain, but not impossible).
I expect Minrathous will serve as our hub (DA2 feel, as per a possible leaker?), and that we will have to go on missions there, elsewhere in Tevinter, plus Weisshaupt, Rivain, Antiva, and likely other places. Possibly in a linear fashion, or in whichever order we choose. The characters that Varric and Harding met in The Missing will likely act as quest-givers in these other locations. If we are doing a quest in a location that ties in to our character's background, then perhaps there will be additional dialog, additional narrative, or a unique quest variant to reflect that.
I do hope that we don't acquire a large portion of our companions in far flung locations. The last one recruited inevitably becomes the least used and the least loved.

I seem to have Baldur's Gate on the brain nowadays, but one thing I don't love about it is the voice actor for Ketheric Thorn. He sounds like he's phoning it in. I just hope Dreadwolf doesn't have anyone famous like that; it really messes up the immersion and stands out in a game where most other VA's are bringing their A game.

Huh. Arrived at work and first thing I'm told by a coworker is "new Dragon Age teaser". Oh, and the last voiceover sounds like Benedict Cumberbatch.
I was like whaaaat. No way they can afford that guy. Sounds awfully lot like him though. So whoever this imposter is, I'm sold on your voice if nothing else. *g*
Other than that, more teasing without showing anything. Figures. Summer REVEAL. Yeah, wake me up when there's actual gameplay of an actual game...

That’s not…Hawke’s VA over the Anderfels/Warden section is it??…it could be??? It does sound like Nicholas Boulton and Hawke does go to Weisshaupt if he survives in DA:I... but it could be just someone who sounds similar. I wonder who the lady in the beginning might be. She sounds like she might be an important character.

It's an announcement of an announcement, a slightly shinier version of the good old "we're excited to tell you more next year".

Why was Tevinter omitted in the trailer? It's there at the end, just not named in full. If you look closely it shows the Nocen Sea with Minrathous enlarged and then a name obscured by tentacles with just an "a" visible. I wonder if that part of the map is actually showing an earlier time when the area wasn't known as Tevinter but Neromenia (the human kingdom that first worshiped the Old Gods) or even earlier still under the Evanuris. I'm curious about the voice at the end of the teaser, as it's definitely not Solas. It could be someone from Tevinter, although if combined with the voice over Rivain's part, I wonder if one of the Evanuris would break free in the early game. The Rivain part is linked with the return of the gods. That could mean the last two Old Gods, one of whom could well be under/near Rivain, whilst the other could be other in the Anderfels. The voice at the end fades into the rumble of a dragon, so that would fit. Of course, it would also fit with the Evanuris returning and since the teaser in 2022 seemed to make a direct link between the two pantheons, it probably means the last two Old Gods are also two Evanuris. Since the final voice is male, I'd hazard a guess that this is Lusacan, who was one of the three patron gods of the ancient Neromenians and yet to arise from his prison. That would mean the other, of course, is Razikale, the patron god of ancient Tevinter and Minrathous. My guess is since they’ve talked about Tevinter a lot, this was to show everywhere else that will be involved. Plus the final shot with the map is of Tevinter. Glad you agree with my assessment. I think the female voice over the Antiva map is likely that of either Caterina Delamorte or Teia but there is an outside chance it could be Razikale because the Old Gods are returning and assessing the situation on the ground. However, I think the former more likely because it would appear to be the voice of the First Warden over the Anderfels. Is it also possible they are showing the order in which we will travel. So, starting with Antiva, we will move onto Rivain (which makes sense considering their position in relation to one another), then the Anderfels (plus possible the Deep Roads/Kal Sharok) and then finally Tevinter. In regards to the trailer: interesting that this seems to indicate that the Crows, Lords of Fortune and Wardens will be the three big factions, There have been a lot of hints this was going to be the case over the last few years. weird that there's no mention of Nevarra and/or Mortalitasi. Probably not going to be a major faction involved, although we could have a companion from them. If you think about it, neither the Crows, the Lords of Fortune, nor the Wardens were invited to Charter's meeting in Tevinter Nights, yet all might have information on Solas, just not necessarily know it. Also at least two of those factions, the Grey Wardens and the Crows featured in the comic the Missing, which was said to be a direct tie in. Speaking of factions, there was no indication on the map of travel to Arlathan Forest, although it is on the edge of the final shot involving Tevinter, so I think the Veil Jumpers may feature later in the game and connected in some way with the final voice, either supporting or in opposition.

It's an announcement of an announcement, a slightly shinier version of the good old "we're excited to tell you more next year". But any life sign is a good thing. I mean the blog posts states that we'll see gameplay and the release date specifically in Summer (northern hemisphere's anyways) next year - thats a lot more concrete then just saying you'll say something at some unknown time next year.
And it's good to know not to get your hopes up for events between now and then, I appreaciated when The Chinese Room/Paradox did this for the bloodlines2 reboot - just told us when we were going to be shown/told info next.

I forgot that there was a Mortaltassi at the meeting in TVN and that is a pretty good catch to imply that they won't be that far involved because of that. Still we have seen Undead looking imagery in the BTS trailers. Now that could've been scrapped but its also safe to assume its still in there so I find the exclusion of Nevarra/ the Mortaltassi a bit odd if they don't acctually make it into the game.

Does the voice over tevinter at the end sound like Liam O'brian doing Illidan to anyone else?

full reveal summer 2024, release date 2034 with possible delay to 2044
All jokes aside, I's guessing that voice at the end is going to be for Elgar'nan & BW are going to double-down on on the Elven gods were evil, Solas was right route.
Just a thought in my head, we'll see what's revealed in summer.
