Yeah, it released back in September. Very good so far. I didn't even realize there was going to be a book. Interesting backwards marketing of getting books and a TV show announcement before the game is even out! Would be interested in somebody writing a spoiler free review of how to compares to other works of sci-fi. I might read it if it's good. The Mass Effect novel I read ages ago about Anderson and Saren was a little meh. The writing style was the biggest problem, I think. In any case, the trailer was a great piece of atmosphere. People say they ripped off Destiny. I wouldn't know. Never played it. I haven't got through it all, I'm probably a little more than a quarter of the way through. Just haven't had any time to sit and read. But Reviews on amazon are pretty decent. As for being a Destiny "rip off" far from it. Destiny barely had any lore to begin with, and so far I haven't came across any similarities that would suggest it's a rip off.

The book is a lot better than anything ME,DA or SWTOR releated book released. Not much action but huge worldbuilding and a lot politcs. That’s the difference of having an established novel author writing instead of game writers (Not a knock on them, but game writing and novel writing are distinct if overlapping skill sets). I’m almost done with the audio book myself. This book is terrific. Conspiracies that span millennia, vast ancient megastructures, entertaining characters, cloak and dagger games both at the street level and in the halls of interstellar empires, it’s all very fun. If this is an indication of the way the world-building will be used in the franchise in general, they’ve found a great balance of grounded and fantastical storytelling.

The title makes me want to skip it. 🙄 I hate when a "journalist" (cough cough) thinks they'll make their article more appealing by trying to dunk on BioWare, Woke, <insert popular thing to attack>, etc... I'll read it only because you thought it still worth doing so. 😉 EDIT: The writer seemed pretty shaky on some lore.

I got a feed notification titled something like "Fans drool over new Mass Effect 5 trailer". And it was all nonsense about the Exodus trailer, but essentially calling it ME5 and made by Bioware.
Fucking AI articles, man.

So Is this from the same studio that Karpyshyn joined a few years back? Pretty much ex Bioware folks? Either way, looks Interesting, something to add to the wishlist.

Karpyshyn is there with James Ohlen. I've long been a fan of both. People here tend know Karpyshyn really well, but Ohlen is an awesome dude. I don't know Chad Robertson, but he's the third of the trio. I like everything I've read about this game, but can't get excited until I see gameplay. Great writing and deep lore is only useful if it's attached to a fun game. I'm cautiously optimistic since Ohlen and Karpyshyn seem to share so many of my preferences across different forms of gaming.

Thought he went to Beamdog and did the Baldurs Gate enhanced stuf or was that Trent Oster? Google Id required.

I'm in between new novels right now, picked up reading an old classic (A Tale Of Two Cities) that I stopped reading halfway through a couple of years ago because I wasn't that into it. Might either finish at last or put it aside again and read the Exodus novel. Probably only to end up disappointed that the final game sucks anyway, lol.

Hamilton (the writer of Exodus: The Archimedes Engine) is really good and he is immensely popular. he is an active consultant on the game I recently read this series of books of his that were great: Salvation: Salvation Sequence Book 1 Salvation Lost: Salvation Sequence Book 2 The Saints of Salvation: Salvation Sequence Book 3

I've started Hamilton's novel, "The Archimedes Drive". I've read a little, but can already tell that the science fiction is strong and that there's a lot of depth to this setting.
The post-humans are very advanced, but not the biggest dogs that have ever lived on their galactic block. I've already been able to glimpse some of the disparate evolutionary paths they've selectively taken. It's easy to see why humans would be hard-pressed to deal with their much more advanced descendants. I'm definitely curious about how this story, both the book and the game, will unfold. I hope they can create the gameplay and onscreen material to do it justice.

I'm not seeing anything to suggest that their video game studio(s) were affected. With due repect to those affected, this seems small time in comparison to Hasbro's and WotC's usual douchebaggery. It would be their style to make cuts at the studio before release, mucking the whole thing. We can only hope they don't.

Not trying to say it was impacted this time, but Habro has been making cuts several times. For me it is just something that I think is a possibility that Hasbro ends development before the game is finished.

An idle thought in-between Veilguard launch. Baldur's Gate has been kind of adopted by BSN with multiple threads and included with older BioWare games. Should we give the same BSN attention to Exodus? Does it's heritage make it 'extended family' for BSN to some extra love and space to on BSN? (assuming it's decent) Just a thought...

Honestly, for me, yeah. Bioware's releasing less games these days, and this is made by some of the same people behind their older stuff and in the same style. But I guess it ultimately depends on how much interest the forum at large has on the game. Guess we'll see when it's closer to release and there's more buzz.

Archetype Entertainment isn't the only studio involved in the Exodus development. There are also Certain Affinity and Blur involved. Certain AffinityBlurThere is also prime video secret level series episode incoming in a month. I know in the gaming industry nothing is certain but i will be surprised if this project is canceled.

I've been reading "The Archimedes Engine" before sleep each night. I'm reading on my phone via the Kindle app, so progress is hard to judge. I'm only on page 124 of 903, so there's a lot left to read. That said, I feel like I'm getting a very good grasp of the setting, the political situations, societies, etc...
So far, I feel like I have a good top-down understanding of the Celestials. I'm not sure how much has been said about them, in terms of specifics, and I'd hate to spoil anything. They're recognizable as once-human, but definitely changed enough so as to thoroughly alien, in my opinion. There's a particular feature or achievement of their kind that makes them very different from humans. I think it would make them ultimately too distinct and unrelatable for humans, but I'm curious to see if that can change.
I'm just getting into the human angles of the story. I have a good grasp of how they live and interact with the Celestials. There's the other side of that coin, though -- the parts that chafe at Celestial dominance and look for other paths. I've heard a lot of about the Travelers via the human protagonist, but I haven't yet seen elements like the Travelers up close. His views and understanding could be flawed. Again, I'm eager to see where the story goes.
Ultimately, I know that the game will put us in the role of Traveler. I'm anticipating a somewhat similar role to MEA's Pathfinders, though under very different circumstances.

Caught this video today which is a good mash up of most of the stuff to date with some opinion thrown in. May be stuff from earlier missed out on. I don't follow this guy but have watched several of his videos and he seems to me pretty balanced.

Another one, I think they’re prepping for some bigger marketing, releasing all these close together. That, or trying to get the attention of the Dragon Age fan base online reading reviews and such now. www.exodusgame.com/en-US/journey-into-the-darkness/the-arkavirThis one is about a type of “changeling”, which the Archimedes Engine described as human offshoots engineered by the Celestials to fulfill specific tasks.
