I doubt this marketing stunt is being done without the knowledge of the studio or publisher. Someone is definitely pushing it for a while now.

I absolutely believe marketing thought it was a good idea to do a marketing push while the studio the lead devs are most associated with is getting more attention.

i don’t believe they’re actively pushing gaming journalists/slop farms and creators to write confusing headlines about Mass Effect.  That just seems like journalists and creators would do of their own accord to drive clicks.

I hope not, or at least not in any way that interacts with the single player game.

It seems there’s another one scheduled for release tomorrow.

Essentially, they’re naming the playerbase, “Travelers” as they try to encourage the formation of a fan community around the upcoming game. That doesn’t mean anyone is playing together though.

It’s not impossible, but I don’t think the wording means anything.

Between the Mara Yama nightmares, and having virtually no standing with the other, less nasty Celestial overlords, one begins to understand why a human might consider slapping some alien crystals into himself and seeing what happens.

I'm hoping the date they have planned for the gameplay reveal is this year's Game Awards. They are saying a lot of the right things to keep me interested in this game so far.

Nothing direct. The fact that they invoked RPGs like ME and DA seems to point to that though.

It sort of reminds me of the early marketing for Mass Effect. They slowly built up a database with information about the setting and some of the characters. I recall reading about Saren Arterius and being asked, "What do you think of Saren's views regarding humanity? Is he right that they're pushing too hard? Etc..."

It was cool to already know some of what to expect when Mass Effect released. I guess these guys were there when that marketing happened. Maybe they even remembered it in a positive way, as I do?

My reading of "The Archimedes Engine" stalled, through no fault of its own. I simply got flooded with a ton of long awaited entertainment items all at once. I'll definitely resume it, soon.
