A special offer for Founders www.exodusgame.com/en-US/founders-special-limited-time-offerI suspected they would aim to use this as a TTRPG setting given who owns the studio and Ohlen’s background, he’s put together a handbook for it. Founders should receive an email offer December 10th (deadline to sign up as a Founder is December 7th) The arts from this news article are so cool!!

I hate signing up for stuff, but finally decided to become a Founder. (I used Heimdall's link to secure the extra swag. Thanks for that!) I think it's already been about a year since I first saw the Founders promotion. I needed to see a lot more about the game, and I feel like we have. I still haven't really seen gameplay, and I don't know if it will actually be good. Yet, between the marketing releases and the novel, I'm very happy to give it a chance.

Been so distracted with gaming I haven't read much of the novel yet (like 20 pages or something) but it's off to a good start! I fear however that this is one of these super detailed universes my shitty memory will struggle with badly. I get overwhelmed with too many names too. Trying to understand Game Of Thrones S1 was annoying. Had to keep asking my friend I was watching it with who the hell all these people were.
The author is unfamiliar to me because I am ironically not the biggest sci-fi fan. I've really only read like 6 novels or something. My favorite by far was the Hyperion saga. Which was relatively easy reading because not too many characters and the world building was not too complicated either and yet super creative and very emotional. Emotional is the key to me liking a novel or not.
Since the novel is so ridiculously long it will take me months to read because I usually only read for 30min when I go to bed to get sleepy. And sometimes I'm so tired I quit after 2 pages...

Peter F. Hamilton has written lots of Sci-Fi books/series and the ones I have read have been very detailed, lots of characters and factions and complex story/plot lines. I recently read his Salvation Series books and the first one did my head in but I just have to trust that it falls into place and over the book/series all the characters and factions etc. start to become familiar. His books can be incredibly intriguing and with some reall amazing but drawn out emotional elements as well. So my advice is roll with it and don't let it freak you out at the start.

I just purchased the book. I'm still hesitant about signing up to be a founder.

And yes High School and Uni, some of it is a blank but I recently had a small school reunion for my year 12 class that students and Teachers came to which was great, if emotionally draining but it was good to hear that I did seem to remember a lot more than others. Some of it to their embarrassment.

Even at graduation when one of my lecturers came up to congratulate, in front of my parents, I could not remember his name LMAO very awkward. Good times. So awkward, it could have been an a side note in Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Even at graduation when one of my lecturers came up to congratulate, in front of my parents, I could not remember his name LMAO very awkward. Good times. So awkward, it could have been an a side note in Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm. One woman turned up that I didn't speak to for a bit because I was absolutely sure I knew her but couldn't think of her name and didn't quite recognise her. Even a few others had no idea but as soon as she spoke to me it was like a flood of memories downloaded to my brain. It was a bit more embarrassing as we'd had a relationship at school for a couple of years, but she was very quiet and withdrawn at school, so forgetting her name was a little bit OK, I guess. Plus, instead of having afro like hair length in HS her hair now is very short, and it was all grey instead of dark brown. Uni I am not sure other than my best friend's wife I don't think I could remember anyone!!!!!

Since the novel is so ridiculously long it will take me months to read because I usually only read for 30min when I go to bed to get sleepy. And sometimes I'm so tired I quit after 2 pages... This is my new(ish) problem. I used to be a prolific reader. In recent years, I've tended to read in bed, when my wife and dog will grant me a little peace. The problem is that sometimes I get sleepy too quickly. 🤷🏻♂️ I'd paused "The Archimedes Engine" when Veilguard released. I was too busy playing the game and BSN-ing at night. I've recently resumed, though, and the story seems to be fully underway. The Travelers are part of the story, now, and I have a pretty good idea of their goals, present and long-term.

Stuff like this is why I get most of my “reading” done via audiobooks these days. I listen during commutes, exercise, long drives, and other repetitive tasks. That’s how I zoomed through it. The audiobook is pretty good, if anyone’s wondering.
