So got a fair bit done yesterday but again did not get very far. Mucked around with the Display and Graphics settings to try and figure out why my fans were going berserk which wasted 45 minutes but was worth it as ended with better quality image and reduced CPU usage and non-existent fan noise. I am just really intolerant of it. Finished I believe everything associated with Chain Scrape and Barren Light and finished up after doing the Rebel Camp with the Mounts the one a bit further North with the Blaze. Had a perfect Stealth run on both, the first the guards were alerted but 6 of them kindly ran into two separate fire lanes one left and one right. They made a nice pile as Aloy dropped them unseen with mostly head shots. Even dropped the boss shield guy with a decent length shot to the head when he dropped his shield down. Going to raise the difficulty and see how I go, my previous attempt it turned into a slow grind but ATM with my Legendary gear nearly everything especially if it is a headshot or a weak point hit on a machine is one shot. Did the first tall neck and totally forgot how to do it, took me way longer than it should of. Pic's Started making Aloy wear her head piece, for some reason her hair was annoying me Ran Ulvund out of town which is always fun Couldn't help Savohar but helped his refugees Electra Glide in Blue - Aloy on the first Tall Neck

I had picked up POSEIDON and then went galavanting about on side quests (helped Talanah and Amadis find Nessa at the Rot, helped Zo get control cores from 2 Grimhorns plus a few others). After another brief and frustrating chat with Beta, Aloy went to find DEMETER. There road was very, very long so I cut through the mountains, narrowly avoiding a roaming Tremortusk - because fuck that noise - and scaled another mountain range in - more or less - a direct line towards the location for DEMETER. Was gliding for long enough to get the achievement for gliding longer than 60 seconds The Quen tribe are interesting. They come from across the sea, but have American accents? lol - please update your software to view this file. Thanks Microsoft. The giant invisible bat was a pain, but didn’t die, so I guess I’m gitting gud. Returned DEMETER to GAIA and now off to try and trap HEPHAESTUS.

I finished the expac for FW and I came to the conclusion that: Quen = Dalish Zeniths = Evanuris Sylens = Solas
Also, they really over-designed the combat like holy batman way too many elements and weapon types.
The Quen tribe are interesting. They come from across the sea, but have American accents? Without the Apollo database looks like American English was the only language available to teach the early humans seeded after the world destruction by Gaia.

This comes up in a conversation between Alva (I think?) and GAIA.

Didn't play much, Rugby and dinner were the priority so explored Plainsong, that took 45 minutes, who would design a place so complicated to navigate? Not humans!!!! On the way to Plainsong I met some Utaru who got attacked by machines and rescued them. One was the Food Guy and met up with him there to buy some food. Also met Nel who begged me to go to River Hymn to help with Tanakth raiders which I did. For the first time, even though I doubled back after getting the pods, I could not find the missing guy, pretty sure his body just was not there. On the way to River Hymn I cleared everything to the east picking up a black box and a drone clearing machine sites etc. Really trying to take my time, not rush and just enjoy the game. That said Relic Ruins are on the banned list and Melee Pits, probably Hunting Grounds too. Pic's Saved the Chef's Bacon. How could I deny those eyes: Helped out the Boss Man who gave me a redundant bow that he'd given me two times before. The game should recognise NG+ and just give you resources. Checked back in with Nel

I wonder if people caught some interesting tidbits during the game and DLC that doesn't get followed on. Examples: - Hades saying he managed to execute his life destruction protocol with success 3 times since the Faros Plague. He even gave the years: 2154, 2161, 2168. Which are all very close together (and about 100 years after the plague) that makes you wonder what happened. Gaia overran the planet with bunnies? There was none after for like 900 years until the signal. - The deduction that the Zeniths were the ones who sent the signal 17 years ago based on how long it took for the signal to travel space and then them showing back to Earth....but then it turns out it wasn't them who sent it and Beta was made "in-route" and she looks just as old as Aloy. Looks like it actually took the Zenith 17 years to come back.
- Nobody seems concerned about all the Zeniths aboard the Odysseus up in space above the planet.
- Why didn't Londra just try to hijack the shuttle? It's still there...
On another tangent, someone else felt like the repeated mention of using asteroid to conduct terrorism on Earth at Londra's HQ was a subtle hint for the 3rd game...

I've been reading the Horizon Reddit and I'm very amused at the people talking about falling to death more in Zero Dawn after playing Forbidden West. I do like the "not-a-glider" too.

I definitely died more from falling than I ever did in combat. Why "not a glider" I loved it and it seemed to glide pretty well for me and it saved me from many falling deaths? Is it because it's more like a gliding parachute?

Had a nice day yesterday just exploring the North round River Hymn and then wandering southward a bit to the west and then east across to where the Carja Delvers are with their Serving tray. Killed Rebels, Bandits, Machines including my first Thunderjaw, which I went face to face with a heavy weapon. That was good for about 33% of it's health, then ran around trying to shoot off weak points and weapons. Got another Drone and Blackbox and finished up doing Cauldron Mu, was going to skip them but it was there and I knew it would take about as much time as I had left. Died once because I jumped of a conveyor belt machine too early and no way to get backwards or forwards so jumped where I shouldn't. Pic's Been doing a lot of rescuing which I must have missed previously due to rushing: Think I killed this same whatever it is and got the same result last PT where it died but stayed in the air. Several killing fields yesterday, burning through arrows. Took down the Thunder Jaw but the Heavy Weapon is nowhere near as effective as last game or maybe it was the user. Cauldron Mu down.

I am having issues with the shaders wanting reload all the time but also my fans going crazy even just in the menus. I think I managed it by changing the fan curve using MSI Afterburner but I don't want to download that again as it caused issues with some games. saandrig any suggestions I am basically playing on High Settings? The shaders are some game issue, maybe see if repairing the game files through Steam achieves anything. As for the fans - sounds like the V-sync setting might have been turned off and is causing an unnecessary high frame load. Check it in the Nvidia Control Panel (or the new Nvidia App if you use that already).

Nvidia App, on the phone or a download for PC? I use GeForce unless that's what you mean and the Control Panel.

The Nvidia App is for PC and is meant to combine the Nvidia Control Panel and GeForce Experience into one. It's still in Beta, but you probably will get prompts that offer to install it soon. I'd wait a bit on that though.

Yea hI died moer from fallin than fighting as well as on eof th ethings I like about Horizon is once you know a machines weakness they are relativel yeasy as that's half the battle won after that it's just a case of hitting them in the right spot. For example I kno wThunderjaws aer vulnerable to ice so I generall yfreeze it befoer I hit it with arrows for max damage. A sfor the no ta Glidre the shield ws designed t obe more a shield but Alo yjus tdoesn't use it tha tway. I kind of likied th eidea of gliding down from far above thoughin the gam eand seeing how far I could glide managed to glide quite far sometimes. At times I actually liked the shieldwing moer than the pullcaster.

So reading the Horizon wiki and it says there was 13 Zeniths who managed to escape Sirius, but we only see 12 of them in-game: There are 9 that shows up at the final battle together (despite Tilda saying there was 10 at the base): + 1 for Tilda + 1 for Londra (who ran away) + 1 for Verbena = 12
Also, someone knocked Tilda's tea table at her mansion over when you go there after the last quest...
Also, Sylens mention 12 bodies before Burning Shores. So he either lied or the devs made a mistake in the cutscene.

Yesterday went to the Eclipse base and took care of Vezreh and the rest of his goons, again a good stealth run, completely undetected except for Vezreh of course the man needs to give his speech. Then as I was in the area decided to push the main quest along so headed off to follow Sylen's breadcrumb trail. I totally forgot how long that quest is from go to wo. Anyway, only went for one swim in the water maze and of course when Aloy let the bath water out at the end. Aloy woke up on a riverbank dreaming of Rost only to get saved by Varl. That bit was always a bit incredulous for me, how exactly did he know exactly or even nearly where she would be???? Then dealt with The Chorus and headed to The Land God Cave. Again I had forgotten how tedious that was and only one mistake when Aloy decided to go full attack mode instead of accessing a conduit thing and jumped down three floors. And hey Varl who yells don't fall when someone's climbing, idiot. So now Aloy has a base and is starting to build her Scooby Gang, I'd prefer the real Scooby Gang though myself. Spent an eternity doing all the chatting to Gaia or maybe it felt like it as I needed to stop playing so had to rush through some of the conversations which I have been deliberately trying not to do. Will go and get Aether first/next but may spend today doing some more exploring. Pic's Vezreh got delivered to Hades I never found this woman and her dat pad thing before in the Eclipse Base Hades, the god of death - you aren't looking to good Sylens The Great Betrayer Well there's a surprise Another Cauldron done Gaia Reborn

So my last adventuring into FW. I tried the Shredder Gauntlet thingy...and it was kinda amusing. I actually decided to find the last machine type I haven't scanned in the game to try it. It was a Frostclaw and it had two Fire Clawstrider friends. I also decided to try the Valor Blast ability (which I only have unlocked at level 1). The Frostclaw was weak to lightning and had a component that exploded when subject to it: my Shredder Gauntlet ammo applied lightning + the Valor Blast. The fight lasted like 30 seconds, wasn't hit once. Valor Blast has quite the radius. Then I stumbled on a convoy of 3 crabby-boys + 2 Fire Clawstriders and I got demolished* because Apex crabby-boys EMP blast takes out 600 of my 700 HPs. *I didn't die, but still...

The Shredder Gauntlet is great but only at distance, I got quite good at it but it was too situational. Haven't tried Valor Blast, must try to remember to give that a go.

Tried it a long time ago with Skyrim, you have to get a preset from someone otherwise it's many hours of tweaking stuff while in-game to get the "colors/effects" you want and in a lots of case it's just base game with some variation. I never bothered with it after trying it that long ago.

Thanks that's the last thing I need then for a game I have played twice before.

Yesterday, got about 4 hours in but didn't feel I achieved much but I figured out a few things that are nagging issues for me but not glaring until this PT. One is Aloy's movement, it is often so hard to get her in the right position to open things or interact with them and that she often just goes the extra yard when it is often a bad thing. For some reason she just does these little surges rather than taking a step. I am guessing this is a controller to keyboard issue. Second is the length some of the quests take which is a pain if you don't want to leave a quest halfway through, especially when you may have to rely on an auto-save. But also when you are in the middle of Cauldron or something and don't want to lose track of where you are and what you are doing. So yeah, the second is why I played four hours and a large chunk of it was taken up doing the Demeter quest, which was fun especially immolating and exploding the Dreadwing. I remembered they didn't like fire so rained fire arrows on to it then one exploding spear and as Boomer would say "BOOM". I also took out a couple of Rebel forts, went to do one Tallneck but it was locked so flew to the one in The Sentinels and used the Shield Wing to glide on to the top of it. Oh, fully explored the base to the amount possible at this time, found a room I had not before with lots of data devices with memories/wishes for the future which was both sad and nice. Pic's - after much delay as imgur is being a dolt. The room with the memories in it One of the best views in the game Fun to take to the sky but I am going to try and avoid it as I want to uncover everything and that's easier running Yay Alva, boo have to wait till later to get her at the base. Nice pic, recovering Demeter

Spent about 3 hours playing yesterday and focused on clearing/covering the North-West which was fun but difficult as the machines up there are pretty tough. Didn't do the Cauldrons or Relic Ruins, killed a lot of Rebels and machines which was more in the mood I was in. Then headed back to the base to hand in Demeter and talk to Gaia, Erend, Varl and Zo then headed off to investigate the message from Eleuthia. Discovered Beta and brought her back to base and chatted with her as well. The Badass crew One Down A new sister for Aloy
