That art style. Dragon Age the Telltale game or the Overwatch DLC? Especially jarring when cartoony qunari girl attacks the dragon that is still done in the old DAI graphics style. Not a fan of the music choice and the overall vibe of "wheee the world is ending it's gonna be so much FUN".
But maybe it looks much better in game and the gameplay trailer will be great? But then again, doesn't usually the trailer look way better than the actual game?

I'm pretty sure we are a random nobody in this, but we might not be selected as randomly as I'm suggesting. One thing I know and I didn't mention it in my post is that the MC is holding a dagger in the poster shot at the end. A dagger with the same shape was in an icon for the game on Steam. So that dagger is important.

Remember Inquisition? You had a special sword in trailers, and promotion and then all you do in game is raise a sword in the air and go "yay inquisition". It might be a whole lot of nothing.

What tentacled creatures have we had in DA? The only one that's coming to mind is the broodmother but there's surely another, right (and that wasn't in the Fade)? Maybe a goofy question - have we had black elves before? Fenris is dark skinned. Not as dark as Davrin, but he wouldn't really pass for white. If I remember correctly, in previous games characters designed to be dark skinned seemed a lot paler and it was down to lighting in game. |

Also I'm looking at trailer again, maybe I'm blind but art-style does not look cartoonish to me. Not even that different from Inquisition art style. Feels like music is driving too much of mood into looking cartoonish, but it's not actually. The character's mug shot are stylized (and clearly not in-game scenes), but the environment shots looks a lot like DAI art style.

Yeah, I have no concern about art style for the game. It appears EA marketing just missed really bad with music choice, hence polarizing reaction.

I feel happy for the Harding fans, but that's about it. The trailer feels like it is more geard for Fortnite or a quirky Marvel movie...so I really hope that is just a side effect of having Varric/Harding doing the narration.
But for right now, the trailer has given me cause to lower my already-low expectations even further.

More I read and process this reveal, more happy I am with what we're getting.
But damn I'm annoyed with that music choice, it is really giving people wrong impressions.
Hopefully gameplay reveal on Tuesday will smooth things up.

My guess is that the trailer is intended to attract the new younger audience. Its been 10 years after all.
Its not really directed at all of the existing fans . . . I think we can rightfully assume that regardless of what we think about the trailer, we will give DAV a chance and form opinions from the gameplay reveal.

Going by GameInformer, the things they group is fighting at the end has red claws (red lyrium?). And the in-game characters aren't as stylized as their mug-shot in the trailer based on the cover and one in-game screenshot (posted in the discussion thread). Who goes ahead and creates different character models for a trailer, especially if they don't look as good as the in-game ones? And BioWare wouldn't have the time and staff to spare for that kind of thing anyway given recent events.

The trailer isn't apparently a rapresentation of the in-game graphics, as the game will have a GI coverage this month, and they already shown screenshots, including one with the PC.
