Maybe the best Dragon Age trailer. Because looking bad, all previous DA cinematic trailers were rather bad, having own time-related trend chasing issues.
Mass Effect trailers just another league compared to this.
Origins' trailers were the worst. They were part of the reason why I never got into Dragon Age until DA2. Sorry i have to dissagree. Origin's trailer is bad as long you hear the music. Turn out the music and it is fine. That doesn't help me by DA:TV. 1.DAI 2.DA2 3.DAO 4.DA:TV

How likely is the rumor that they just used a hero shooter trailer they had lying around from the live service game period to save money? I had a theory that this could be the case. If there's an actual rumor supporting that theory, I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry.

Not nearly enough to get to any kind of conclusion. I've seen people say the narrative aspect of the game is very much on par with the tone of the trailer, which sounds awful. But at this point its all conjecture. All we really got is the trailer and the trailer aint doing it for me.

While that footage looks much better to the companion trailer, I have no idea who Shinobi is. I don't have anything to do with Twitter/X, so I have no way to base his take. Without knowing his past track record and his thoughts on the previous installments in this franchise and others. EDIT:There was a leaker on reddit that talked about all companions being Marvel-esque in dialogue, but he was specifically talking about companions, not the tone of the game or the narrative (he also mentioned the quests were good narrative-wise, I believe). This could be good or bad. Having one person (Alistair, Varric) doing such banter is a different beast when half or all the cast is doing it. That's what made characters like Alistair and Varric endearing and memorable. They stood out in a group of serious companions, like Sten, Wynne, Morrigan, Avaline, and Fenris, among others. I think that was a big part of why I felt most of the Inquisition cast felt so bland to me. In a cast full of "jokesters", we only had one or two serious players.
But, some enjoyed that; that's fine too. I can accept and understand that. The reverse is not always true I've found.

How likely is the rumor that they just used a hero shooter trailer they had lying around from the live service game period to save money? It sounds so stupid that it could be true to me. Would definitely explain why the vibe is completely different from the actual game supposedly. I could totally see EA thinking this trailer was good enough and might even fool kids into buying the game thinking it was still a hero shooter type MP game. A sale is a sale, they don't have to actually play the game. If the characters remained the same and they just added an actual story to the visuals, I could see that being possible. The end of the trailer is a copy-paste from DAI "The Breach" trailer with less slomo and better graphics: companions + MC fighting an horde of demons showing flashy abilities with a dragon swooping in.
The rest is a "building the team" scene that borrows from Ocean's Eleven, but use title cards and shorter scenes:

I can't help but think that this teaser is just to help assuage the complaints around the trailer to help prevent the fandom spinning on that for longer than needed.
If that's the case it helped me. While we can't see much of the characters from the front or in light, this looks in line with DAI.

Given that it's something we're going to see tomorrow (they did state the gameplay would start from the opening of the game), it's something we'd have got to see anyways, but they might've opted to show the sneak peek to counter some of then negativity and criticism.

Yea gods, that’s the main character voice they went for. Let’s hope there’s an alternate. Also seems like absolutely needless autodialogue, hopefully not reflective of the wider game.

I personally theorize that yesterday’s trailer was the result of some guy in EA’s marketing department snorting a mountain of cocaine and playing Apex Legends for 72 hours. At the end, the coke fiend stood up at his desk and screamed, “THIS IS WHAT THE KIDS WANT,” and no one dared to contradict him because of the loaded gun he keeps in his drawer.

They knew tone of the trailer was not on the money, but EA marketing team clearly had the final say.

I have to wonder what people mean when they say Marvel-esque, because at this point it seems that any sort of comedic, humorous or light-hearted moments are called so. Never mind that DA was chock-full of funny quips and moments - I have no idea where this insistence of some that DA franchise has to be void of that is coming from, when some of the most memorable moments I keep seeing being brought back as highlights of DAO aren't, like, a goddamn broodmother or death of Cailan, but things like Morrigan quipping with Alistair...

From the exchanges I saw elsewhere, some people are saying that writers are not allowed to do quips/snarks/funny anymore because Marvel movies got real popular doing it (or overdoing it) according to them).
So things like this aren't allowed by BioWare anymore according to them :

Meanwhile in the trilogy he had his moments I'm not even sure if humor is the issue - at least as far as negative comments on Twitter or Youtube are concerned, many of them seem to be about a different series from the one I was playing, which makes me suspicious that not an insignificant amount of those who came to dogpile on DAV may have never played any DA chapter, ever... and then they get stumped when I mention that their "uhhhh, it's supposed to be Dark Fantasy!!" title has things like a hilarious golem character who's on a vendetta against pigeons.

I don't know if they used Marvel-like or Marvel-esque, but he post specifically mentioned Marvel as a comparison. Granted, the same leaker also mentioned the game would still have a 4-men party, and I recall some people mentioning he didn't know some big details or moments from the previous games, so he might've not been a big fan or player of the franchise. I honestly don't know what he meant the with the comparison, and to be frank, the games always had characters and dialogues that people could categorize as similar to Marvel dialogues, I think. The games always had a mixture of more serious dark elements, moment and tone and light-hearted, comedic ones. In regards of the trailer specifically, I think the big issue with many is that the tone and direction lead to overshadow some moments that could be definitely categorized as darker or serious, and the way the trailer was narrated did look a bit like a developer would introduce a hero shooter game. Of course, the game isn't going to be one regardless of the actual quality of tone, but coupled with the name change, and the fact that the vast majority of people don't really keep up do date with every single news, I can see why people feared the game was a different one that they envisioned.

Little bit of sunshine on a gloomy day. I have no reason to distrust Shinobi, his track record speaks for itself. I truly hope he is right, but at this point just feels like im grasping to anything hopeful. He's the guy who was blowing smoke up everyone's bum before Andromeda, downplaying the technical concerns. His track record certainly does speak for itself.
I'm still undecided until tomorrow but this individual's opinions certainly don't factor in.

Marvel-esque humour basically equates to a steady steam of facetious quips. Not jokes, mind you - quips.
For instance, let’s say a building explodes, and the Marvel hero quips “Well, that happened!” or “Wasn’t expecting a barbecue today!” Or a bad guy appears behind the hero, and they observe, “He’s standing right behind me, isn’t it?” And when the villain says their name, the standard quip is, “What, was NAME XY taken?”
And they keep doing that throughout the movie. It isn’t wit, it’s comedy by volume.

Peebee is not a romantic, that's Vetra in MEA cast.
She does become a romantic if you romance her as she by the end wants "all the strings" not just a fling.

Marvel-esque humour basically equates to a steady steam of facetious quips. Not jokes, mind you - quips. For instance, let’s say a building explodes, and the Marvel hero quips “Well, that happened!” or “Wasn’t expecting a barbecue today!” Or a bad guy appears behind the hero, and they observe, “He’s standing right behind me, isn’t it?” And when the villain says their name, the standard quip is, “What, was NAME XY taken?” And they keep doing that throughout the movie. It isn’t wit, it’s comedy by volume. If a bulding exploded you aren't going to have enough time for a full joke.
