I did notice that they said "you've done some work for the shadow dragons" in the reveal so it makes me wonder if you're like a new recruit for all these factions. Quite probably since you can't have been with them long or you'd know more about them. That's what puts me off the Veil Jumpers. How do I know about them? What attracted me to them? What do they do? I assume that apart from Varric and Harding, who met them in the Missing, most people outside of that part of Thedas won't have heard of them either. So, what do you say when people ask? I'm on safer ground with the other classes because either I've heard of them in game or through reading Tevinter Nights (the Shadow Dragons were mentioned there, just not by name), but the Veil Jumpers are entirely new.

I guess and I don't know enough about Mournwatch to get why they're interesting, besides the necromancy. I think it is more that they exist at all in the south, the Mortalitssi rituals being so at variance with the Chantry customs concerning death and dabbling with spirits something that Templars totally frown upon. The Mourn Watch actually oversee the daily administration, guarding and maintenance of the Grand Necropolis, so very integral to the whole thing. Their mages in particular seem to have far more freedom than Circle mages enjoyed in the south, with strong links to Tevinter, hence Dorian having visited there and acquired his skills from their teachers. I also suspect that their order has its origins in a much earlier period and was probably the remnants of an Old God cult that fled south during Hessarian's purges and then reinvented themselves at a later date. Big plus is that Solas can't stand them. That has to be a good thing right?

Didn't expect to be a grey warden ever again.
Regardless of how bad or good this game is gonna be, starting this franchise way back in the DA:O days, what a great way for me to end it with being a grey warden again like the good old days.
I admit, Bioware catched me off guard with this one, grey wardens are a weakness of mine.

Voted Lord of Fortune, because that is what I'm most interested in, but - because I'm a gaming goober when it comes to action games - it will depend heavily on the quality of the 3 buffs that each faction gets. If some other faction has a shiny buff that I really want, I'll probably switch to that. But ultimately - play them all, of course Playing this game six times will be a real trip. Yeash with this amoun tof backgrounds and such this game likel ywi l lhav ea fai ramount of replayability as I'm curious to play a few as Veil Jumpers sound interesting but fo rm y first playthrough I'm goin gGre yWarden as I'm mos tfamiliar with that. I generally for a firs trun I prefer to keep t ofamiliar things untli I get a handle on the game and comba tan dsuch . I tend t oexpreimen tmoe ron th e2n dand latter playthrough's

Leaning towards the generic human for a first run.
I like the Veil Jumpers, but that should be my elf.
So I am most likely going native as a Shadow Dragon.

if I'm able to be "a Crow that doesn't want to be a Crow", I guess that's what I'll be chosing but I'm torn between Crow, Grey Warden, Lord of Fortune and Mourn Watch. Not sure how the last one would go for a Rogue, though

Without knowing the mechanical benefits:
Grey Wardens (only if I get a baby griffon, too, then I won't be able to resist) Shadow Dragons Veil Jumpers Lords of Fortune
The Antivan Crows and the Mourn Watch just don't interest me yet, but who knows. Given time, they might give me ideas.

Without knowing the mechanical benefits... This. How are you going to pick without knowing the gameplay benefits of each?! What about your class and build and how they synergize?! Impossible! 😅

I am very tempted to pick the Grey Wardens but for the sake of trying something new, I'll probably start with the Lords of Fortune. Who knows if our early-game contact will depend on it and I want to meet Taash asap! I might be persuaded to pick the Mourn Watch, also because of novelty.

I liked what I saw of the Shadow Dragon abilities yesterday. That dual wield with the option to switch to a bow was pretty impressive. Plus I like the idea of being an anti-slavery crusader.

I'm going to play an elf and am torn between Shadow Dragons (because being an elf freeing slaves in Tevinter sounds badass) and the Crows (because I love Antiva).

I want to play all factions, and I thought the Mourn Watch would be among the last ones, but I’m growing fond of it.
I have an idea to play as a Pentaghast, but I’m afraid Emmrich will contradict my roleplay. It’s fine if I can make my character a noble.

From what Cassandra said, Nevarra is crawling with Pentaghasts so I imagine Emmrich couldn't know them all. Cassandra had a relative who was a high ranking Mortalitassi so they probably have other family members in the ranks of the Mourn Watch. However, it depends on what background goes with the faction choice, if at all. I read somewhere that we are going to be able to choose both our first name and our surname, so in that case it will be left open for you to make yourself a Pentaghast if you wish.

Sign me up for a Qunari Grey Warden. The darkspawn will not stand a chance. Ataash Qunari!!! This combination has gotten me really excited because there has been no Qunari wardens in the previous games, so this has potential

I was thinking that Rook and Emmrich would know each other, but you're right, each organization seems to be big enough that members don't know everyone. Shadow Dragon Rook and Neve didn't.

Antivan Crows, because they are the most morally ambiguous of the lot. I got my Grey Warden out of the system with Origins, I am not a fan of necromancy, treasure-hunting is fun but not a career, Lords of Fortune does not have enough lore, Veil jumping seems hazardous to my health; physical, mental and spiritual and the Shadow Dragons are too squeaky clean. Give me a Blood Mage Antivan Crow any day. Also depends of the starting bonuses.

At the moment i'm leaning towards Shadow Hunter for a female human mage, i like the idea of a rebel trying to fight for a better Tevinter. That said Veil Jumper seems interesting too for a more Indiana Jones type of character. In truth all the factions seems interesting and i`m already having a lot of ideas for different characters for each one of them.

Shadow Dragons and Veil Jumpers sound most appealing to me right now!
Race wise, most likely playing an elf - last time I had a canon/world state elf was DAO! Plus I'm wondering given Solas and his plan for Elven kind, it may give interesting story opportunities!

I don't know. I always thought if given the chance I'd play a Warden or Crow, but now I'm conflicted. The Lords of Fortune and Veiljumpers look like cool backstories. But then maybe Crow? Maybe Lucanis and I will get into it about how they're operated. Arguments.
I do also take into consideration how the companion from that faction and I might get along. If not romantically, then a sort of mentor student dynamic since it seems Rook is really new at everything. Or even an antagonistic dynamic if we disagree with how the faction does things.
