I hope exploraion wise DAVe will be more like DAO rather than, say, Mass effect 2/3, where most areas were mission exclusive and i'm not sure you could even go back and explore them later. Unfortunately with how they’re emphasizing how hand-crafted for missions all the locations are, I think it’s going to be mostly like ME2/ME3. A couple hub areas, but most places will just be for that mission. Could be wrong though. As I said earlier, I think they mentioned we can return to those areas to explore them and find secrets, treasures, equipment.

My guess is that we should prolly prepare ourselves for "who stays in the Fade" scenario, like in case of Hawke and Alistair/Loghain/Stroud in Inquisition. Although who'd will be choosing between remains an open question - Solas? Morrigan? Varric? ...Rook? I doubt it will be Rook. That's one of the reasons they didn't have the Hero of Ferelden appear in Inquisition. Every other option you listed is getting left behind if that situation happens. I wouldn't discount a possibility of swapping Inquisitor for Rook, especially that we know already that we'll be able to design them in CC, so they will be in a state where they'd be playable (even if we won't get any sections where we'd be able to control them). So, at least theoretically, I can see a potential protagonist swap happening somewhere at the end of the game, when some heavy choices need to be made - or something that could put both our old and new PCs into some sort of conflict? So many potential things could happen^^

I think it's quite likely that we'll be visiting bigger areas for more than one mission.

They did say we can return to explore the areas afterwards, to explore them and find secrets. I hope exploraion wise DAVe will be more like DAO rather than, say, Mass effect 2/3, where most areas were mission exclusive and i'm not sure you could even go back and explore them later. They have said there are side quests just not fetch quests. However, they also have said side quests are tied to the story. I need them to clarify that a little more like are side quests really 100% tied to the main story or will there be a few that are independent of fighting the big bad gods?

I'll go back to "this is basically DAI 2.0 - what's the point of playing Rook, when I could play Inquisitor?" thing - I have no idea what will happen in DAVe, and what will be the level of Inky's involvement, but playing new character while also retaining an old one creates all sort of juicy narrative openings in the story that aren't available when there's only PC: swapping them at some point, sacrificing one, having a conflict, or... turning one of them into a baddie/obstacle on the way ... Of course, they could maybe have Inky for 3 minutes, ignore them for majority of the game, only to return for another 3 minutes at the end of this chapter... but until we get to play DAVe, I think it's fun to speculate what could happen

From what I understand the game is a hub system since we are in treventer then it is the hub with spokes to other areas/quest lines and also the companions like in ME2 will have their own (brain farting here) personal quests.

Oh, nice, I didn't see those in the article. I believe Corrine said in the Q&A that one of the mage specializations was elemental damage focused, so it's probably that

Another curious detail is how all the specializations have the icon of one of the available backgrounds.

Lol. Tha article praises the art style changing from grimdark to whimsical Fable-esque style. That's going to be controversial. Although that mostly seems to be Arlathan Forest. The only thing that did grimdark fine was Warhammer in my mind. Whimsical feels more fitting for Dragon Age for me.

Another curious detail is how all the specializations have the icon of one of the available backgrounds. I do appreciate that the ResetEra playtester was ultimately right about the warrior specializations.
Grey Warden Champion (named Guardian at the time IIRC), Mourn Watch Reaper, and Lords of Fortune Slayer (named Berserker at the time).

So it's not really animation cancelling but more like animation pausing? I wonder if there is an actual animation cancelling tho.
I'm not sure i like it, tbh.
I also don't quite understand what loadouts are. Do they include abilities or it's just weapon swapping?

Unfortunately with how they’re emphasizing how hand-crafted for missions all the locations are, I think it’s going to be mostly like ME2/ME3. A couple hub areas, but most places will just be for that mission. Could be wrong though. Gamble said some of the maps will be considered "open world" by how large and open they are in one of the article I saw last week. I think it's more like DA2/DAO, but with better tech. And the "open world" map would be the Wounded Coast or the Brecillian forest (if all the zones were loaded at the same time), but most maps will be mission related, teleported straight to via Eluvian.

Anyway.... we know we will visit Minrathous, but should we expect to visit other big cities?
We did see shots of Antiva City from time to time in released material, and it's quite apparent that Crows will play a significant role in this chapter.

I think if they let us to visit TWO cities than it will be more than enough, as long as it won't be small areas like in Val Royeaux's case.

Dragon Age Veilguard: Too much civilization! I have a feeling we'll mostly be able to roam around Minrathous, and the rest of cities will be available in small sections, or corridors for missions.

Ok, those skill trees aren't that bad. When they were talking about them being large I was having nightmare flashbacks of Assassin's Creed Valhalla's navigational nightmare of a skill tree.
