Mana Shield, sounds to me like our old "Barrier" spell, but with a more fluid, reactive real-time feel (like Andromeda's "Backlash" biotic power).
I like it on paper, but about time we saw what some of these look like. I'm a very visual RPlayer, and tend to pick powers based on what they look and feel like in-game, as opposed to how much damage they do,

For the next Dragon Age game I wish they would add a few people to the combat team whose favorite class is mage (or listen to them if they already have them on the team). All they seem to do with mages is cut and cut and cut and cut. For once I would like to hear about mage combat in a new Dragon Age game and be excited for something fun they added to the mage class instead of only hearing about more ways they cut the class.

Personally I'm just ready to see a few short videos showing off the new combat. While I get they want to get closer to the release date the fact each dragon age game is so different combat wise I think actually showing us what sets Veilguard apart is important.
We got 6 factions and 9 Specilizations and 4 races. Too kill multiple birds with one stone some combat videos showing a combination of Rooks showing off each Specilization and let the players observe and digest for ourselves how we feel about it. All this wait and see marketing is weird to me when we already saw level 1 Rook in the first couple mins of the game. We already know all the companions from the first trailer so there is no harm in showing us a mid level Rook with x Specilization apart of X faction showing their role in combat. It doesn't have to be a showcase of a Quest so no need for story spoilers. Also if they have given Mages a option besides just a Staff that definitely should be shown too.
The combat system is going to cause controversy either way because it's the 4th game with a 4th different system. It's alot of saying it's the most fun combat but not enough showing how the combat is or can be fun. Any fear of showing your game is going to always cause unease on anyone's moral

And also relayed that the combat was one of the few things that seemed to be universally liked by the community team.

...so she will be a Rift Mage instead. Focusing her in the Spirit school will keep me to only two damaging spells: Stonefist and Mark of the Rift. As a fan of the Creation school, Entropy spells, and summons, I actually decided to go with Necromancer after some more thought. I originally was avoiding it due to the specialization being described as damage-focused, but I can skip Walking Bomb, use Haste, keep the Spirit school, and take one of the spells that impressed me in Inquisition (Static Cage), and I would only have two DOT abilities. I heard companions have a lot of good reactions to that specialization too.

I don't know honestly. Pretty sure Ghil and Kala are the only two I can be sure of though I swear there was another one. Ghil, from what I remember, loves Inquisition and can't remember what Kalas is.

Are there any gameplay people on this council like A Kis Herceg or JC Lee? Are there many DAO-loving curmudgeons on the community team? Kala and Ghil said there where many people in the counsel. And also one that are more there for gameplay. But non of them has speak up and Kala and Ghil don't want to say who they are. What i understand. But both say all person in the room loved the gameplay. Bioware have nothing to change their. hear yourself. I put it in spoiler because i have forgotten about what else they talk about.
Edit: I have forgot to add Lady Sulevin i think has also said she was in the counsel.
and can't remember what Kalas is. Kala is a fan of ME.

The only thing gameplay wise that looks really annoying so far are the MMO red circles they use in fights. MMOs use it because you move your camera to a more top down one and you can see the circles clearly but this behind the shoulder view makes it hard to see the circles TBH

However a bit of backstory, there was a recent cheating example in Final Fantasy 14 where world first groups cheated to get the clear in one of the savage raids. The cheat they used was something which allowed them to ZOOM OUT to better see the mechanics on the ground, which is obviously an advantage. Which brings me to this, it was designed as mechanics to use in a slightly more top down view, the more top down the easier the mechanics are seen. This is what these mechanics look like to MMO players: i.imgur.com/dhDMXDO.jpegSee how the more top down view makes everything more clear? In comparison, as someone who plays MMOs now, these circles in Veilguard are actually horrible.

It's very easily proven, take a 2D circle, look at it from the top, then look at it from the side. From the side the circle looks like a line, from the top it looks like a circle. As you rotate from the side to the top the line gradually expands. Veilguards below the shoulder camera gets more a line, FFXIV's very obvious above the shoulder gets vastly more of the actual shapes

In the ME games you could move the camera around up/down/left/right/diagonally and look directly at the sky or at the ground if you wanted. Likely you'll still be able to do this, even if the camera can't be zoomed out.

That's how I play FFXIV, I only look at bosses when I know a mechanic is telegraphed by their animations instead of by puddles of orange juice on the floor.

I made the key error of taking a look on the Steam forums....
The Kool Kidz on there fall broadly into two camps, those who feel that Bioware is dead, the game is ruined forever, and will be so bad that comparing it to Big Rigs Over The Road Racing would be like comparing a slug to God, and that Atari ET is an absolute paragon of perfect gaming perfection in comparison to the absolute, vomit-inducing, nauseating, ghastly, abominable car wreck of Veilguard.
And the second group feel that Bioware are now part of a global 'woke conspiracy' to undermine Western values, and are waging a war against straight, white alpha males by covertly turning them into women, 'turning them gay' and that playing Veilguard will cause men to grow breasts and siphon all the testosterone out of their bodies.
I even read a comment from a guy who earnestly believed that all game companies were secretly working hand-in-hand with the Taliban to 'destroy the West' and apparently this version of the Taliban are 'woke ultra liberals who will force diversity upon us against our will.'
I will never, ever, visit the Steam forums again.
But I think we can all be fairly confident that this game will be subject to a MASSIVE review bombing campaign upon launch.
