EA PC System Requirements and chart
www.ea.com/en-gb/games/dragon-age/dragon-age-the-veilguard/pc-system-requirements
Minimum Requirements
OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 3 3300X* (see notes) Memory: 16GB Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 970/1650 / AMD Radeon R9 290X DirectX: Version 12 Storage: 100GB available space Additional Notes: SSD Preferred, HDD Supported; AMD CPUs on Windows 11 require AGESA V2 1.2.0.7 Recommended Requirements
OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit Processor: Intel Core i9-9900K / AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (see notes) Memory: 16GB Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 2070 / AMD Radeon RX 5700XT DirectX: Version 12 Storage: 100GB SSD available space Additional Notes: SSD Required; AMD CPUs on Windows 11 require AGESA V2 1.2.0.7 ***** These are interesting. I don't know what AGESA is, (I'm on Intel for CPU) but that isn't the interesting thing. The interesting thing is the minimum requirements are largely in line with, or below, the minimum requirements for BG3. A game that is certainly beautiful, but, I wouldn't have thought would be anywhere near as demanding as DAVe. The other interesting thing is the CPU for recommended...that is a very, very beefy CPU when compared against the GPU(s) they're pairing it with. I have an 11th Gen i9, 64GB RAM and a 4090, so I'm set for recommended, but do we really think there's that much going on 'under the hood' that requires a CPU like that? And more generally, the GPU reqs (both min and recommended) are pretty light given how the game appears to look so far (and given how other, comparable games released recently have needed much more).

That is an old i9 for recommended (9th gen?). Many current i7s are much faster if CPU benchmarks are to be believed.

But it seems strange to me that they'd use it at all. If all the i7's below it are too slow, then why bother including it all? I would have thought they just would go to the first i7 that made the grade and let everyone work backwards from there. I don't recall another game where i9s were mentioned in the system reqs before.

Okay so the specs for Dragon Age is at minimum a 6 core CPU and recommended 8 core. For BG3 it was minimum of 4 cores and recommended a 6 core. The GPU requirements are about the same. I wouldn't take the specifics of the CPU recommendations too seriously, I feel like the numbers tend to be plucked and the most important stuff is the core requirement. Could be wrong. BG3 is gorgeous to look at as well

I actually could play this on my current rig, but I've been putting off a new build for literally years waiting for Veilguard so I've started buying parts anyway. Nice to know I won't have to spend an arm and a leg. Maybe I can even put off buying new RAM for the moment and just transfer my existing stuff ...

There is not a large difference between a 8700k up to 11700k in terms of gaming. Especially if the 8700k is a bit overclocked. The difference gets even smaller at higher resolutions. The 12th Intel gen was a bigger leap (and we don't talk about the 13th/14th gen fiasco), but for story type games where you don't need 200+ FPS, even older CPUs will be just fine.
If the game supports Frame Generation (as it should in this day and age), then the CPU becomes the least of all hardware worries.

Glorious PC Master Race! yeah getting an external HD for the PS5 or an internal upgrade or something is kind of on the list of things to do. Just don't know how to go about it and that would also cost a pretty penny.

Just don't know how to go about it and that would also cost a pretty penny. I had to do that with my PS4 eventually because ESO takes up GARGANTUAN amounts of space every update on that platform because it's like it redownloads a whole version of itself in the process, so you had to have the space of two versions of that game for it to finish updating. And with patches that feel like they are every other week, I got tired of trying to free up more and more space. So, I bought an external hard drive. 1 TB of storage and was only about $100 on Amazon a few years ago. Plugs into one of the USB ports. Super easy. I have a PS5 now and haven't tried moving it over to there, but I imagine it should work fine. And I definitely will have to as the PS5 seems to have less native space than the PS4 did, and it's basically almost full with just ESO, Red Dead 2, and Valhalla on it. I also imagine since it's been a few years that you can probably buy an external hard drive with even more storage space for the same amount or maybe less money for less space.

So is it correct that we can get a physical copy? I mean by this the game properly on disc, not just a box with a code that requires internet access to download the actual game, although it may be necessary to connect just once to register your copy and unlock it on your PC.

Is there any way to tell if I'm all good with this AGESA V2 1.2.0.7 thing? I have an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor, if that helps. I honestly don't even know how to look at the BIOS other than doing the dxdiag thing.

If you want to be completely sure, system requirements lab has the specs listed on their site and can scan to see if your computer matches up to either the minimum or recommended specs. It would be cool tho if devs put out benchmark tools ala Sun Wukong for players to see how their computers would perform since I think that would be a lot more helpful than randomly listing stats.

I honestly don't even know how to look at the BIOS other than doing the dxdiag thing. You are almost certainly fine. The requirement is for stuff from about two years ago, so your BIOS has to be in order. Still, you can check your mobo and go into the BIOS settings to see the version.

Fairly reasonable I'd say. Definitely seen some head scratcher PC requirements recently. Tickled to see my old GPU could still run this game.

Asking the real questions here. I have a PS5 and so far I haven't needed to connect to the Internet once in order to play (granted, I don't own many PS5 games as it is a new console), I'd definitely prefer if this was such a case.

I am very happy that my last year PC upgrade still passes DAVG's recommended requirements. Same here ... I bought my computer online in November 2023 (oops edit from 2024) at the best sales time of the year (US Black Friday time frame). I got a gaming computer with an AMD Radeon 7700 processor, a Nvidia RTX 4070 video card along with 1TB SSD and 32 GB RAM for just over $1200. A similar computer now is just under $1700 although it usually costs over $1800. Point is ... by waiting until November (in the US) to order a new computer, you can save about 30% with the Black Friday Sales. OR ... you can build a PC yourself now ... if needed.

OR ... you can build a PC yourself now ... if needed. Damn bro, you went to the future to get that Black Friday discount.
