natureguy85 - I understood gameplay demands, but there could be experiment inside game when in Act I Carver would test himself as leader of group with Hawke approval to check out if he fits in role. Then by Gameplay demands he would have failed, but at least he should be less angry on Hawke because they showed him that he can try to lead. They would give him a chance to try. Maybe Carver feels about older being in charge but seriously, he is present only in case of Mage Hawke. A Hawke which should hide from Templars. It would be more logical if Carver would be more in spotlight in Act I than Hawke mage is.

I'll be doing another playthrough soon because I switched from the 360 to PC. I'll have to record some Carver goodness.

I kinda wish I was on pc so I could record/screenshot stuff but I know I'd spend more time trying to get good shots rather than actually playing.

I kinda wish I was on pc so I could record/screenshot stuff but then I'd spend more time trying to get good shots than actually playing. I actually have an El Gato capture device. It's pretty awesome, so I can record my 360 and PS3 if I choose. It wasn't too costly actually. However, the graphics tends to be better on the PC, so I'll probably stick to Bandicam for that. I do miss using a controller. I hate mouse and keyboard. On topic: FYI, I'll be posting a lot of pics here from the old Carver thread so when the old site goes down, we don't lose everything.

Fexelea should be able to get DA2 onto fextralife. ME1 and 2 have been imported, but 3 hasn't yet. It'll just take more time. But by all means, shares the precious with us!

I forgot about Fex's site. I signed up for it but every time I go, the Bioware section is a ghost town. Thus, I always end up here all the time.

Most people did migrate here. I've spent some time there but I'm having some account issues and need to get that fixed. Truth be told, a lot of the DA2 threads were pretty inactive beforehand so I don't expect much traffic once they're imported, but I will try to post about the BioWare section anyway. (Particularly in the Anders thread. ) Hopefully some fresh blood will notice even if people here don't or have moved on.

BEST BABY BRO. Carver's one of my favorite characters in the franchise. From the moment he turned his grumpy little face on me, I loved him. I remember the original Carver thread on the BSN - it's loooooong buried, but I had a ton of fun lurking there. I love how he sticks up for Hawke even when he's wrestling with his own issues and feelings of resentment, I love his adorable crush on Merrill, I love how he grows as a person when he's out of Hawke's shadow. He really comes into his own and I'm ridiculously proud of him. It helps that Lukas Kristjanson wrote him. He's written several of my favorite characters. Seriously, read this shit from before the game came out. It's HILARIOUS. <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>> Really? Found him to be a whiner and jealous of his bro/sis and felt he was always under his sibling's shadow, for some reason. ... opposite of his sister. Had no use for him either. I think he was written as a plot counter-point. Any subsequent playthroughs, I had him killed at the start.

You are not alone with this feeling, you can see also here. But I agree, that Carver was written for mage Hawkes counter point. This is why I like him as templar. Only in one of my games he died, because I did not take Anders with me to the Deeproads – because he hate the Deeproads... (I don't use wiki before I done with 1-2 playthrough). (I found Bethany boring, maybe I need some more try with her.)

(I found Bethany boring, maybe I need some more try with her.)I have yet to do a mage Hawke PT to experience Carver, so the sibling I had was Bethany. I don't find her boring at all, and Hawke took her everywhere -- except the Deep Roads, because I read about what would happen and there was no way I was going to let that happen to my little sister. Bethany is very reserved, sweet, and generally agreeable, aside from the first time Hawke sees her in Act 2, where she is easily as bitter as Carver. Other than that, there is very little drama with Bethany, which I guess some people consider "boring."

My Hawke took Bethany at Deep Roads, because Kirkwall seems more dangerous for a mage, than the Deep Roads – so: Bethany became Grey Warden (I often don't use the meta knowledge). (Also for his safety, my Hawkes don't takes Carver to Deep Roads...) Yes you right, I maybe will try Bethany again, but I will miss Carver... Somehow I will persuade myself to leave her home, Even though at first it does not seem logical choice if you do not use meta-knowledge.

Somehow I will persuade myself to leave her home, Even though at first it does not seem logical choice if you do not use meta-knowledge. I justified it in-game because Leandra begged Hawke to leave Bethany at home. My Hawke figured that Leandra was too emotionally fragile after losing Carver (something that is confirmed by banter in Act 1), and wouldn't be able to handle both surviving children going on such a dangerous mission. And since 1) Bethany has such a nurturing personality compared to aggressive Hawke, and 2) Hawke was the one who made the deal with Bartrand, it made sense for Bethany to stay behind and take care of Leandra. It's just rotten luck for the characters that Bethany was caught by the Templars after managing to hide for a year. I wish we knew what tipped them off.

Warrior/Rogue Hawke and Carver were said to have been part of King Cailan's army at Ostagar. But does anyone know if they actually participated in the battle of Ostagar or did they leave before that?

This is from the wiki: After his father died, Carver started down a military path and took part in the Battle of Ostagar. His fellow soldiers said Carver fought well, that they used him as a spear while they kept the darkspawn off his flanks. He had to be dragged from the fight when Loghain Mac Tir's betrayal forced the Fereldan army into a rout. Carver returned to his family though they had to flee once the darkspawn attacked Lothering. dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Carver_Hawke

If you are a Mage, Carver gestures to himself and says "I've been running since Ostagar." but if you are a Warrior or Rogue he gestures to himself and Hawke while saying "We've been running since Ostagar." Aveline will also recognize you as being from a unit there if you are a Warrior or Rogue.
