I loved hearing the development process behind the design. It was very fascinating to hear their thoughts. Just a bit I wanted to note.
I like that the Khett incorporate an organic feel to their structural design, likely inspired by how they combine organic and in-organic material on themselves in the form of growing bone-like armor while wearing a bit of clothing over it. It also make sense that they'd wear clothing at all even though they have built-in armor: bone armor might lend itself to small crevices but pockets might be more preferable as would straps and holsters.
While there's still a bit of the design I'm not too keen on when it comes to the design, there is quite a lot that I do like especially courtesy of the higher detailed image. Some of the things that I like is the eyes, the little hollows in their faces and how the bone armor can vary in design from Khett to Khett. I also like the collars that the Khett are apparently fond of and have as one of their motifs.
Have I said bone armor too much? I'm sorry, I just really like the bone armor.
I also like the idea of the Khett's rough and organic design contrasting the Milkies' more smooth and metallic design. This contrast can be a good way to emphasis that Andromeda is different from the Milky Way. I'm very curious to see the Khett's culture and society since the team seems interested in making them feel alien while also balancing approachability for the lack of a better word.
Also, for those wondering: it looks like the Khett has very firm buttocks.
The Khett images from the video are below.

Looks pretty cool.
It must be quite a challenge to fit all those criteria necessary for gameplay and so on for a new race like this.

Wow, I'm actually pretty impressed by the final result given the criteria they were trying to fulfill. I was semi-hoping for a Starcraft/Protoss or B5/Vorlon feel. It's interesting to hear the thematic direction they are going for ME:A is more of an organic feel. Definitely not romanceable....

I was hoping for a more in-depth look at the Kett, even if they don't want go too spoilery yet, a few little cultural notes would've been great.
The video was interesting though, I always wondered about the creation process of the new races.

Seems ok to me - still two legs, two arms and a head though I think it's difficult to imagine a functioning alien life form. The only thing that bothers me slightly is they appear to have very human, and very well-kept, teeth.

Don't like them, it annoys me greatly how completely humanoid all the sentient races in the ME universe are. They finally got a chance to introduce us to completely new alien species, far away from the milky way and all they could come up with is....this? Severe lack of fantasy, they could have gone batshit insane with biomechanical stuff, blur the lines between organic and artificial life in crazy ways. Just look at some of the Giger art. Blows this half-arsed attempt for a new race out of the water.

Very cool video.
It's worth remembering that because Andromeda has no Reapers, it's to be expected its technology will be fairly different from that we had in the Milk Way. This organic feel maybe ties to that.

I hate...and also love humanoid body in Andromeda.Humanoid body is the perfect shape for a race to evolve.I don't disagree with this. Look at the MW species...they all have 2 hands and 2 legs...sometimes 4 eyes. I like the kett and I want one of them in my squad.

I get that they need to be humanoid to fit rigs/reduce animation costs, but they could do with fewer human-featured aliens.

To be fair for the sake of a a FPS with cover based mechanics they had to keep that in mind when designing new alien races. A non-humanoid antagonist would have made an even more interesting fight because then we would have to adapt to a completely different combat style. That would have been fresh and interesting. Heck, imagine something like highly advanced sentient alien enemies with a physique that allows them to walk on the ceiling or on the walls. Something like that. Too much of what? We're exploring uncharted worlds several lightyears away from our galaxy, I totally expect stuff that blows my mind because its so completely and utterly alien and unknown. Thats the whole point of this game. Bioware should grow some balls and finally start not playing it so damn safe all the time. They're so afraid of failing with innovative or original stuff that they're getting increasingly boring with each ''new'' content. Nothing, absolutely NOTHING of the content they have shown us so far could be described as innovate, new or ''fresh''.

A physique that lets them climb walls and ceilings? Like......the Geth? We already had that and yeah it was fine but that doesn't scream developed organic race to me. Feels like a civilisation that's developed enough to make guns and stuff probably won't be scaling walls which leaves them as a big glaring target. . Too much of everything? A race doesn't have to be completely over the top to be unique and interesting. Yes I get we're in a different galaxy and that seeing a humanoid alien might bum people out a bit but c'mon. We've seen one race and we know there will be more, whose to say Bioware hasn't gone out and made more aliens with design basic more akin to the Elcor and Hanar? You don't know, I certainly don't. If you don't like what Bioware is putting out don't get it. I personally think it's far too early to claim Bioware has dropped the ball anywhere when we still know so little. I am optimistic for Andromeda

I think the design is pretty cool and can appreciate how difficult it must be to try and create something that functions technically as well as aesthetically, but I do agree with other posters that they could have pulled back a bit more on the more human elements. Someone in the Twitter thread pointed out that their armour even has cod pieces, which at a glance implies a genital region parallel to humans--something like that could have been left out of the armour design to create more a sense of mystery and "otherness". The whole "we're the aliens here" tagline unravels a little when the antagonist species has such strong humanoid elements. Still, not a deal-breaker for me, and I'm sure we'll encounter plenty of other, more bizarre and monstrous stuff along the way.

These GI article videos are really good at giving us information without actually telling us anything. This just makes me want to know more about the Kett. The creative process is interesting and all, but it doesn't help me figure out what they might be like in the game.

Especially if we get a Kett as a companion. There looks to be plenty of non humanoid creatures and races as seen from the trailer so I don't get why you are complaining about 1 race.
