Scott all the time for me Because I just personally don't like name Sara, plus she looks too much ''plastic'' to me, and in my opinion Scott looks much better (less plastic and shiny). But still I'm happy to know I have a sis somewhere in the space

Yes, but I should have mention, that I want to hear their first name from time to time so no go for me.

I think I'm going for Scott in the first playthrough because I want to test this new 'feature' and see how much it affects the game and my enjoyment. Same. Plus, what's his sister going to refer to him as if we choose our own name? Is she going to call him Ryder or Pathfinder too? That would be pretty awful IMO. My guess is they have nicknames for eachother that they will use to get around the name issue. Haha. Someone asked via Twitter, and it was confirmed that we cannot rename the NPC sibling, thus avoiding the awkward Ryder-to-Ryder conversation.

I'm curious. Those of you who would rather not go with the default: how do you plan to make your Ryder look like, more or less?

I'm curious. Those of you who would rather not go with the default: how do you plan to make your Ryder look like, more or less? It depends how craptastic the character creator is. I have found hair, eyebrows and skin options and colors extremely limiting, in most BioWare games. My SisRyder will hopefully be a non-white woman with curly or wavy hair. I don't mind it they've accomplished this by pulling it back tightly into a bun or the like, but I'd really like some decent non-Caucasian hairstyles, finally. If you start with Nathalie Emmanuel as a base, and start working toward less "movie star glamor" and more "paramilitary scout", you'll be on the right track. I vary the ethnicity a lot in my characters, though, so that's just the first female character I have in mind. She might come out completely different, anyway, once I get started. I played FemSheps that I created to be Persian, Arab ethnicities, Indian ethnicities, etc... It became tough to create dark-skinned characters, as the OT progressed, because the skin tones became more and more fair. I think Fb3 handles dark skin much better the the old U3. I'm less creative, but no less picky with my make PCs. I tend to play "less exotic" (from my perspective) men, but still have to perfect the face and match it well to the voice.

I can relate to that. I did not like the character creator for the trilogy, so half the time I ended up going with the default. I am not skilled with this sort of customization anyway, so in the later Dragon Age games I chose the pre-made model that was closest to what I had in mind and tweaked it a bit. Assuming the CC is decent and user-friendly, for my first playthrough I'm thinking an ambiguously mixed race Scot. Hopefully darker skin will look good in the game and mesh well with the rest of the model; in Inquisition I had a problem wherein my character's lips would look a lot paler than his skin, making it seem as if he had lipstick on. I couldn't for the life of me find a way to fix it I might go with curly/wavy hair if it looks decent, but knowing Bioware, I'll probably end up sticking with a buzzcut or something similarly short.

For DAI, you actually need to use lipstick for all characters, including men. You get a base, lifelike color, and then you minimize the color and shine. It can take some practice, but that CC has a lot of good potential. Its downsides are that it includes a lot of terrible options that few would ever want to actually use, and lacks many good options. Hair and eyebrow options are a perfect example of this. It's hard to understand why this is an issue, when a simple Google search would give them a good idea of how people actually want to wear their hair and eyebrows. I'd expect a few oddballs with mostly stylish options in the CC. Instead, we get mostly oddball with a few marginally stylish options.

I did this for the Mass Effect series but had a hard time doing it for DAI. If I can't manage it for Andromeda I'll just make up a whole new look.

Depend on character creator. In the ME trilogy the CC was shit enough, so, default m!Shep looks better than mine. No matter, I will create my own character, as (almost) always. We don't know, the CC to what will be able, so my first Ryder will be likely to be a mixture of these (or some other...) with short hair:

He looks great from some angles, and less so from others. I'm hoping for an option to modify the default, because those ears are a bit problematic for me in a goofy Prince Charlesy kind of way. This guy, however... It's like he's undressing a woman standing in front of him from the legs up with sex eyes, but then the camera switches and you find out he's just looking at a blank horizon (???)

Hopefully he gets a video that features his voice. I like to hear it. Still undecided as to which sibling I will start with for my first playthrough. The more I can hear the voice, the better chance I will know which one I will play.

I'm curious. Those of you who would rather not go with the default: how do you plan to make your Ryder look like, more or less? I would give Scott long hair if that were possible. And I like discreet makeup also in men, e.g. Eyeliner. But I doubt they'll give me this choice. So I don't know exactly. I would definitely try to make him look androgynous.

I've definitely decided I'm going with the default on my first playthrough, which will be a first for a BioWare game. People have been saying that Scott looks different here: ...than he does in the earlier 4K demo footage, but if you look closely at the above image, you can see that for a split second he is shown in profile, then he turns and gives the camera that intense look. But his profile for that split second looks pretty much identical to his appearance in the 4K demo: So maybe it's just the lighting that makes him look different? I only mention this because I like the way he looks in both. And those ears! IDC what anyone says about his ears, I think they are cute AF.

Nah, he looked different in the tech demo. You can find a shot of this face, the whole face, and you can see he looked different.

But we will see the final version, I don't worry about yet. For example I liked the default Shep as well, but sometimes his face was ridiculous. My Shep's facial expression also was weird sometimes, just as the Inquisitors' etc. I hope Ryder will be better. Now seems good, but who know?

I'm curious. Those of you who would rather not go with the default: how do you plan to make your Ryder look like, more or less? I tend to draw out concept ideas in the months before BioWare releases to get an idea of what direction I want to go. I've already done one for my broRyder: - So something as close to that as I can. I'm sure I won't be able to get the exact hair or beard, but something kind of longish/"scruffy" if I can. There are always inevitably some tweaks I make when I actually have the CC too, sometimes not much, sometimes drastically different. For instance, this was the concept drawing I did for my dwarf Inquisitor: But when I realized he reminded me too much of my male Shepard (see avatar), this is how he ended up looking in game: Regardless of how similar/different my Ryder ends up being from the concept, I'm definitely taking a Polynesian ancestry route with him (I'll even try to tweak Alec Ryder to look similar to Temuera Morrison if I can ). Since their cultures are known for being prolific explorers and oceanic wayfinders, it seems an appropriate legacy to take into Andromeda and exploring the unknown.

I'm glad we have a family this time, it's weird to play a character who for some reason in all his life had no friends/relatives. I wonder if we get to choose why Ryden decided to join Andromeda. Was he that much interested in the project or just wanted to be with his family, etc.
