I actually did too.  It was cute and it was kind of fun to think of badass Shep as someone's little boy.

But it was certainly not very well developed back-story.  While I didn't love Lyana Hawke as a character, I thought that having a mother that you interacted with and was involved in  your daily life was a neat dynamic in DA2.

Hopefully completely up to the player.

I'll admit seeing Moana played a part in sparking the inspiration, but I'd already been consider Indonesia/Malaysia or something similar before it; seeing the movie reminded me about the cool explorer aspects of Polynesian cultures and it just felt natural at that point. I try to vary up my protagonist origins in each game, though I do tend to always make some form of a bearded, dark haired snarky pants.

Hm, he's not based on anyone in particular - I looked at various Polynesian men of various backgrounds for inspiration. I've also posted this image on tumblr and deviantART, so maybe those? Or you could've seen other stuff I've drawn before, I do tend to have a noticeable style with faces. There's also always the classic "accidental resemblance" type situation.

I'm personally hoping it's more in depth than DA2 insomuch as we really only had Bethany/Carver for act 1; I'm hoping the other Ryder twin plays a bigger, or at least longer ongoing, part. I do think something in a similar Bethany/Caver vein is likely for their relationship with PC!Ryder, though.

On the bright side, that just means the next gameplay presentation will star Scott since they are switching between him and Sarah with every trailer, gameplay, etc. 

I really hope so. And I hope Scott will be an appealing character. In the first trailer I found him not so pretty, in the second, however, he was quite sexy - at least from that one angle. I hope Bioware will show us a part of the character editor as they did with Dragon Age Inquisition. I would be interested in how this works. Especially the hair / beards I am curious about. I would be interested in a character editor, where you can model everything yourself without finished eyes / lips, etc, from which you can choose. 
Recently I played Dragon Age Inquisition again and I found the character editor not as good anymore as in the beginning, which is perhaps because I played a lot of fallout the last time and I feel that you can do more things there. On the other hand I miss the makeup options for the male character in Fallout. I hope Mass Effect has a bit of both editors.

Are you only will play with male (Scott) Ryder ?? Or maybe  a second Playthrough with female (Sara) Ryder ??

Anyway, from the sound of it I'll probably end up playing as Scott first. Half of it is because I like creating a slightly more idealized version of myself, half of it because the VA sounds like a cool guy in general, let alone seems to have a good performance so far...

This interview was great fun. Barring some wonderful, revelatory character creator experience with SisRyder, I'll definitely be playing as BroRyder first. Tom's voice seems a great fit.

Tom seems to be very much one of us, so to speak. Very cool. The interview offers some cool insights into the VA trade, as well. Again, just an all around fun interview.

If i get the game ill play as bro first because sis sounds like a child.

Ill also have to customize him to look as much like me as possible. Failing that ill simply aim for a guapo negrito.

Does player character customization have an affect on the appearance of the other family members? I haven't looked through the whole thread so i don't know if this question has been answered already...
