I don't mind the family thing. Just don't want any family member to die. If someone needs to die, have some other character die.

I'm glad we have a family this time, it's weird to play a character who for some reason in all his life had no friends/relatives. I wonder if we get to choose why Ryden decided to join Andromeda. Was he that much interested in the project or just wanted to be with his family, etc. How could you have forgotten about those incredibly meaningful emails and phone calls from Shepard's mother!?!? I was Earthborn

How could you have forgotten about those incredibly meaningful emails and phone calls from Shepard's mother!?!? I liked the phone call with her in ME3 tbh I actually did too. It was cute and it was kind of fun to think of badass Shep as someone's little boy. But it was certainly not very well developed back-story. While I didn't love Lyana Hawke as a character, I thought that having a mother that you interacted with and was involved in your daily life was a neat dynamic in DA2.

I wonder how the relationship with your family will play out this time. Hopefully completely up to the player. I doubt it would be any other way. There will be a starting point with your relationship with them obviously, but it'll probably be something basic as you being somewhat distant from your father and close to your sibling. Things can develop differently depending on how you interact with them in-game, as well as your decisions in the world. I think a close analogue to your relationship with your sister would be Hawke's relationship with Bethany/Carver. Obviously you'll care for them given that they're a sibling, and you'll protect them like a family member would, but you can be as friendly or an ass about it as you want to be. You can either support them, push them away, or even lead them to their deaths.

Awesome talent, and very cool cultural inspiration! I love it! Thank you! I'll admit seeing Moana played a part in sparking the inspiration, but I'd already been consider Indonesia/Malaysia or something similar before it; seeing the movie reminded me about the cool explorer aspects of Polynesian cultures and it just felt natural at that point. I try to vary up my protagonist origins in each game, though I do tend to always make some form of a bearded, dark haired snarky pants. That's real cool. Although I have a feeling that I've seen him somewhere. Hm, he's not based on anyone in particular - I looked at various Polynesian men of various backgrounds for inspiration. I've also posted this image on tumblr and deviantART, so maybe those? Or you could've seen other stuff I've drawn before, I do tend to have a noticeable style with faces. There's also always the classic "accidental resemblance" type situation. There will be a starting point with your relationship with them obviously, but it'll probably be something basic as you being somewhat distant from your father and close to your sibling. Things can develop differently depending on how you interact with them in-game, as well as your decisions in the world. You can either support them, push them away, or even lead them to their deaths. I'm personally hoping it's more in depth than DA2 insomuch as we really only had Bethany/Carver for act 1; I'm hoping the other Ryder twin plays a bigger, or at least longer ongoing, part. I do think something in a similar Bethany/Caver vein is likely for their relationship with PC!Ryder, though.

You can either support them, push them away, or even lead them to their deaths. I'd prefer it be completely up to us from the start rather than having a set starting point and going from there. It gives a lot more roleplaying opportunities. For example you could choose to start by being distant towards your sibling, and then throughout the game become closer. You can't do that if you start close. It goes both ways too, like if the starting point is you being distant than you can't play as siblings who are already close. Maybe if we get some sort of background thing like Shepard's character creation, family relations could be one.

And I hope Scott will be an appealing character. In the first trailer I found him not so pretty, in the second, however, he was quite sexy - at least from that one angle. I hope Bioware will show us a part of the character editor as they did with Dragon Age Inquisition. I would be interested in how this works. Especially the hair / beards I am curious about. I would be interested in a character editor, where you can model everything yourself without finished eyes / lips, etc, from which you can choose. Recently I played Dragon Age Inquisition again and I found the character editor not as good anymore as in the beginning, which is perhaps because I played a lot of fallout the last time and I feel that you can do more things there. On the other hand I miss the makeup options for the male character in Fallout. I hope Mass Effect has a bit of both editors.

Especially since like for example when asked about body customization Ian didn't just say no like they have with some protagonist customization questions like can we play aliens but instead "We'll talk about it later" which has me not excited per se since I'm tempering that but definitely intrigued about how much is possible in this.

He looks great from some angles, and less so from others. I'm hoping for an option to modify the default, because those ears are a bit problematic for me in a goofy Prince Charlesy kind of way. This guy, however... It's like he's undressing a woman standing in front of him from the legs up with sex eyes, but then the camera switches and you find out he's just looking at a blank horizon (???) "Oh yeah, daddy gonna explore the SHIT outta this planet..." Anyway, from the sound of it I'll probably end up playing as Scott first. Half of it is because I like creating a slightly more idealized version of myself, half of it because the VA sounds like a cool guy in general, let alone seems to have a good performance so far...

In case any of you guys haven't seen it yet, a YouTube channel called "Get Coins or Die Trying" got an interview with the voice actor for Scott Ryder that's very much worth a listen. It shows just how much of a big fan he is of the franchise, some insights to his character and the process of the work, and some very funny anecdotes including him originally trying out in ME3 for James Vega, and how he found out his friend Fryda Wolf is playing his sister.

This interview was great fun. Barring some wonderful, revelatory character creator experience with SisRyder, I'll definitely be playing as BroRyder first. Tom's voice seems a great fit. Tom seems to be very much one of us, so to speak. Very cool. The interview offers some cool insights into the VA trade, as well. Again, just an all around fun interview.

If i get the game ill play as bro first because sis sounds like a child.
Ill also have to customize him to look as much like me as possible. Failing that ill simply aim for a guapo negrito.
Does player character customization have an affect on the appearance of the other family members? I haven't looked through the whole thread so i don't know if this question has been answered already...

This model/actor posted about a month ago that he was Scott Ryder's face model. He does look like Scott's model too if you check his pictures. No Bioware employee has confirmed yet though. Weird. twitter.com/StevenBrewis
