I'm unsure about my custom Scott Ryder. Sometimes he looks good in one angle


And in another angle is face is puffed out


Or does weird animation things

Does the game recognize it when I rename Ryder to Scott after I did rename him for one playtrought?

edit: No, it does not. You have to start a new game.

Playing Scott right now. During my first encounter with the kett while aboard the Tempest, I realize he really can be tough. Sure, he doesn't exactly know what to do while the Tempest is pinned against the ship - which had no weapons - so he has that "scan them back" comment. Even so, that's an act of defiance. It means that while the kett are assessing them that the Tempest crew is doing the same thing to them. Then, when the Archon tells him to surrender, Scott essentially tell the Archon to go screw himself. From a position of being weaponless that's not a casual statement to make. Good thing he probably had the best pilot ME has ever seen. He'd have to be to fly this ship, outrun enemy aliens and plot a course through the Scourge. The more I play, the more I'm seeing how badass Ryder can be. I'm sure it plays out the same with Sara but I've only ever played Scott.

Um, what? Out of my x play throughs I think all my starting profiles were biotic. Do conversations/comments change based on that?

What were the options?  Surrender?  That would have shown him as incredibly weak.  Instead, he chose to show defiance and then get the hell out of there.  A fight would have to be on different terms when in a less vulnerable position.

Just a observation which may not be accurate. But male Ryder seems to either have a much more boring background or less defined one. He joined the alliance and then guarded a relay, the end.

Is that a positive or negative for you?

One one hand I do feel like he got shorted in concept. On the other it’s more blank allowing me to fill it in more.

As an example I frequently write in the idea that he was a bit of a outlaw, nothing too dark but like a bit of smuggling or something, his fathers reputation was the only thing keeping him from getting court martialed and once that fell apart he saw the writing on the wall and got out before the arrest warrants could come in. He doesn’t talk about it because it’s a fresh start in andromeda.
