Pre-orders (Official Thread)

They got that title taken from them last year (or the year before?) by UbiSoft. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of dick cheeses.

 I agree. A Beta version sold at full price is no good thing, and I have been burned many times over. This is why I will never obtain a new car model in its first year of production either.

Your comment reminds me of the current poll "What are your main selling points for ME:A. (I hate this green text for links.)

Story and characters are the obvious #1 and #2 choices for the new game's selling points. What I find so curious in the (unscientific) poll is that the choice "Quality: No major issues at launch, bug free experience." is RATED #11 - with only 3 votes - and one of those is from me. The other choice related to the game's quality at release is ranked at 10th. I am very surprised that these two measures are so low.

I purchased the trilogy edition in 2014 on disks, but the installation to Win 7 would not work. I had to contact BW for help to get an on-line code and download the game from Origin instead - which went very smoothly. Origin has worked very well for me to keep the game files up to date and fix bad files. I later read on the BW Forums that I should have installed Origin BEFORE I tried to install the trilogy from disks. Sadly, this information was not included in the information that came with the disk package. Aaarrrggghhh! I have no problem paying the initial price of $60 for a game like Mass Effect. It's a good game that has had me enjoying it for many years now, so it's a value for me. I'm not going to wait a whole year for a $20 price drop.

Unless there is overwhelming evidence that the released game is NOT a Final Beta version, I will probably wait for about a month after ME:A's release, essentially until after the first patch is released.

The release and quality of the Titan book prequel had better be timely and a really good read - and available, not sold out in a matter of hours or a few days. I signed up with masseffect.com's "Be the first to know" feature. I hope that BW marketing will contact, by email, all of their registrants about the impending release of the prequel book, but I have my doubts that marketing will even think to contact us using the e-mail info they have already collected. I hope I am pleasantly surprised.

Probably a lot and there will be multiple pre-order incentives. It's EA. But I won't preorder out of principle. I was too burnt by other BioWare titles.

i have never pre-ordered a game before, and not gonna start now. (firstly i'll actually have to read some reviews and see a bit of game-play)

small tip it may be worth making this into a poll. (like yes/no/maybe, im pretty curious about the numbers)

EDIT: i would imagine people would learn their lesson and stop pre-ordering, so relatively small number (hopefully)

Only if what they have to show us on N7 Day is really impressive. And even then it'll be a tough sell, since I'll have challenge runs of the Dark Souls 3 DLC to suit my singleplayer needs, and possibly the remaster of CoD4 when I want to play with my friends.

I'd only pre-order a collectors edition and only if they plan on holding the best weapons in the game hostage to it again like they did last time. The b******ds! Depends on how much content they withhold from the standard edition and how eye watering the price is.

Will for sure be pre-ordering the CE Edition.

In my experience, those emails always arrive late. Like a day or two after something happened. My best source of new info is reddit, things appear there in a matter of minutes. Last example was BF1 beta, was an insider, got a code for 1 day early access to the beta (that is such a ridiculous thing, both for BF1 beta and SWBF beta). 2 days later I get the general subscriber email "BF1 BETA NOW AVAILABLE". No shit, I've been playing it for 2 days. Even if I wasn't an insider, I would have started playing before I got that mail.

Obviously /r/masseffect then /r/pcgaming for general news. /r/pcmasterrace is just a circlejerk subreddit nowadays. Also /r/games is good while /r/gaming is a meme database.
