Pre-orders (Official Thread)

My husband preordered the delux edition for me on Christmas! That last trailer got me even more excited for the game than I already was. I can't wait until March!

I'm currently on an information blackout as much as I can manage until Andromeda actually gets here but I'm sure you'll be seeing way too much of me once it does.

That said, I went to pre-order the other day and saw that there's a SUPER MEGA 9000 Edition in addition to the regular Deluxe. As far as I can tell, the only difference between this and the Deluxe is free stuff in the multi-player mode? If so, I might pass... I actually enjoyed ME3 multiplayer a lot, and spent a little money in it, but I don't know if that'll be true this time around.

Is that the only real difference? If it provides any extra single player content I'm all over it, but if it's just so many free boosters for MP, I'll take my chances.

I bought the regular edition because I got the collector's edition with the remote control car and it doesn't come with the deluxe edition
I hope they have an "upgrade" option like the previous games.

I want to pre-order ME:A, I just wanted to ask something about the differences between the Deluxe and Super Deluxe editions before I decide.

Both editions include:

-Deep Space Explorer Armour
-Nomad Skin
-Mulitplayer Booster Pack
-Pathfinder Elite Weapon Set
-Pathfinder Casual Outfit
-Scavenger Armour
-Pet Pyjak
-Digital Soundtrack
-Multiplayer Deluxe Launch Pack

But the Super Deluxe includes twenty "Multiplayer Super Deluxe Booster Packs" for an extra £20.

My question is, what are these exactly? An extra £20 pounds is a lot just for some multiplayer packs I can probably earn from playing anyway, unless they include unique items that you can't get anywhere else?

To me the "Super Deluxe" version is what EA is doing instead of a Season Pass, having people pre-order content that they are going to have to wait months for.  They haven't said what is in these packs specifically, but I know they had packs in Inquisition that had more items in them then a normal pack you can buy and these could be something similar.  With that said I just bought the Deluxe version for that is what I am mostly interested in.

Game prices have been pretty steady since the 1980's if games followed inflation they would be a lot more then what they cost now, so I am not sure how prices are abusive and the base price is what the publishers set.  Otherwise it is the government that adds additional costs such as tariffs and taxes which is similar to the problems in Australia. 

That's not standard pricing. It used to be 100 reais. ofc, after Bethesda put FO4 for 200, many followed it as well. EA being one of them. I just refuse to pay (as well as others) this, when their deluxe games used to be 130.

But you are wrong. EA doesn't need to pay a price to Sony/Microsoft to release the game on pc. Origin is their platform. No fee, so there is nothing fair about this at all.

p.s. They also don't have to pay up to patch their own game on PC.

Yes, it worked like that. PC games were cheaper than consoles due to the fact there is no licensing fee on pc. They don't need to pay for MS/Sony, they don't even need to pay a fee for patching a game.

That some now charge the same price is greed and because people don't care.

Steam raised their prices to match console prices and everywhere matched them.  Now I never said that there wasn't a time when digital versions were less, but what I was saying is that EA can't charge 20% less for Mass Effect: Andromeda and the regular price for all the other games.

If so, no deluxe for me - less money for them.
