Just pre-ordered the deluxe edition. Hello pyjack! I don't do MP so no need for super deluxe. I used to want physical copies of all of my games, but now I realize they're just junk taking up space in my house. The boxes are there to collect dust. I hate dusting.

This is only relevant if I'm going to go for the Deluxe edition (I have EA Access which gives a discount), AND if I decide to pre-order, but if I pre-ordered on Xbox Live, does the money come out A- straight away or B- when any sort of pre-load/whatever is active? I've never pre-ordered digitally before. BTW, first post here, hi

Yes, soon at that: Deluxe Edition. Normally go for CE when it comes to beloved franchises but this CE is awful, highly disappointed.

Just pre-ordered the Deluxe edition on Origin. Does anyone know when they'll charge you for it? It seems to start pre-loading on March 17:th so I'm guessing they'll grab some money before that?

I'm certainly not getting any sort of Collector's Edition. Especially not when it doesn't even include the game.
I just bought the Persona 5 Collector's Edition and it came with a lot more for $80. Absolutely ludicrous how greedy EA is. And even more ludicrous how people always defend them. I get that you guys like Bioware, but EA is not Bioware. They're a publisher, and they're a publisher that takes advantage of their consumers as often as they can. They don't even care if they get backlash because people are willing to sink hundreds of dollars anyway.
They're disgusting.

They probably just set it up like that so that you could combine it with the edition you wanted. It's way to pricey for me to want to buy it though, but that's another issue.

I'm not buying them since I don't want to spend that much but I can still see why they're expensive. The RC Nomad for instance is pretty neat and would probably cost quite a bit if it was sold separately?

I seem to remember Call of Duty doing something similar, and I still don't think it reached the same price margin we're seeing here. And it still came with the game, regardless.

Starting over with the quote pyramid here @snowwhite. Yeah, I agree that it is rather expensive (as I said, too expensive for me to want to buy). But the fact that the game isn't included is kind of neat. At least if you don't consider the overall price of the combination. But that way you can select exactly what version of the game you want with your collector's edition without them having to set up a whole bunch of different editions. I settled for the regular Deluxe Edition without a Collector's Edition. Would've loved a physical copy though, but as long as I'm at least getting the game I'm happy.

I can see the appeal of not including the game in the sense that it allows CE to be more easily ordered without worrying about there not being enough Xbox versions or something along those lines. That's all well and good. My point in mentioning the fact that the game isn't included is that it feels really slimy. It makes the CE look less expensive as a whole than it actually is because it's not factoring in how much it's going to cost to buy the game along with it. Again, with my Persona example, I got a myriad of really great collector's items, and the CE as a whole only cost me $80. Closer to $70 when you consider the fact that I ordered with Amazon Prime. That means I get an artbook, soundtrack, plush, collector's box, steel case, and a schoolbag for $10. Here, I'm spending $200 for an RC car, Day 1 DLC, steel case, and a digital soundtrack. So if Persona can offer those things for $10, what is making this CE cost so much? Remove the steel case and the soundtrack (which isn't even a physical copy) and it's still $190, in addition to having to buy the game separately. That's a terrible value.

a physical copy is only available in North America. do you know where from cause I can't find it? Tweet from Derek French (Bioware Publishing Support): @lebkuchenbaer @gamblemike MEA PS4 Deluxe is available for pre-order only in North America. Digital after that and everywhere else. Likely the same for Xbox.

Remove the steel case and the soundtrack (which isn't even a physical copy) and it's still $190, in addition to having to buy the game separately. That's a terrible value. If you look at any collector's edition of a game and if they include a statue it is normally about a $100 jump in price anymore and that is for something that isn't very complex. Even looking at the Pipboy for Fallout 4, originally they charged USD$120 for it, but when it was restocked at GameStop it was USD$190, now that did include the game, but it was a piece of formed plastic that from my understanding could break easily. Using a release from CDPR their collector's edition cost $150 for its statue version as well, it did have some more physical things also, but it was three years ago too. To me it gives people options, for with Dragon Age: Inquisition some versions of its collector's edition sold out much faster then others so people were upset at the thought of if they really wanted the collector's edition they would have to buy the game twice, once for their platform and once on a platform they didn't want. I am personally fine with it as long as it is clear the game doesn't come with the items and at least on the BioWare store it seems that way to me, for to me slimy would require them to mask their intentions.
