Pre-orders (Official Thread)

It has been up on Amazon since E3.

As with DAI I would like to get collector edition but fear they will again make it gamespot exclusive so for now need to wait for more information about it.
That why for now I will pre-order digital deluxe edition on pc.

it's not how it works. It's not crowdfunding, the fact you'll give them your money before release won't have effect on the quality of the game or whether the employees will be paid or not.
The only thing that will change is that you'll be at company's mercy when it comes to release bugs or overall experience. You'll be just inclined to defend the game no matter what, just to not feel like a fool.

of course its a form of crowd funding, EA expects to make a certain amount from pre orders, if they fail to materialise they get skittish about the game and release before its ready (which is exactly what they did with DA:I) and effectively create the situation whereby the game ends up as trash because their marketing tactics didn't work out as well as they had planned.

wither you pre buy adfinished game or buy beta access game on steam or greenlight or actively invest in a studio it all has the same net result, your paying them early to allow them to finish making the game properly for its eventual release date, that doesn't really change regardless of who the publisher is or which studio your talking about, it might be an evolution in the gaming industry that's occurred in the last decade thanks to high bandwidth internet and instand access provisions thats occurred during those years but thats not really much different to other stuff in life, everyone is raising investment capital for every project often years ahead of the finish date and because the capital flows in so easy early on they often overspend which leads to unfinished stuff on release if they don't secure more funding, something thats lead to the collapse of more than one publisher and plenty of games studios duing the same period despite the industry as a whole generating monster profits which by rights should of been enough for them all to survive.....

I'm waiting for user reviews/gameplay before I decide whether its worth buying. If I do decide to get it I'll be holding out for the inevitable "game of the year" edition to hit the bottom of the bargain bin.

No. I don't preorder games.
I'll wait for the hype to die and allow time for all the good patches (hopefully mods) to be made. I don't play MP in Bioware games, they tend to suck (ME MP was decent, but there are so many better choices out there). So there's no benefit in preorder or even buy it at release.

I normally don't pre-order games (last one I did pre-order was Deus Ex:MD, many months ago, and fortunately it turned out alright), but I think I won't be able to resist ME:A. It's a game that I'm gonna buy yes or yes regardless of it not being perfect (I really don't believe it'll be BAD..."not entirely perfect" at most), so I say, why wait?
