Oh, wow, I went to see the new Star Wars 3 times. Watching Rey pick up the light saber was a giant "Fuuuuck, yeah!" moment! Gave me tinglies and everything. Best Star Wars movie by far. Me too! 3 times in theaters and probably 4 times on the internet before the Blu Ray came out (hey, I ordered the Blu Ray and had pretty much paid for the right to see it on the interwebs at that point ) Mark Hamill said that when he was reading the script, he thought that moment was when Luke would appear (that would have been really badass, but what we got was awesome too). If you are talking about the moment when she pulls it toward her, when Kylo is also trying to pull it toward him; I just realized that you could also be meaning when she grabs it out of the chest in Maz's Castle. . Great film, I liked it the best out of all of them; slightly beat The Empire Strikes Back in my book. I really loved the duel at the end of the film and how the sabers sparked when they collided. I was thinking about the part where she pulls the lightsaber past Kylon and to herself. Loved watching her stomp whiny Kyle and look forward to Kyle's asskicking round 2. It will be great watching her come into her own. TFA slightly edges out Empire Strikes Back in my book as well. I understand the criticism that TFA followed the original movie a bit too closely but I didn't mind. It added a fresh take with new characters and the story was serviceable enough to make me want more. So, anyone want to hazard a guess as to who Finn will end up with, if anyone at all. I can't decide between Rey and Poe. Oh, wow, I went to see the new Star Wars 3 times. Watching Rey pick up the light saber was a giant "Fuuuuck, yeah!" moment! Gave me tinglies and everything. Best Star Wars movie by far. Regardless of the fact that this is entirely subjective, the fact still remains that you're objectively wrong. The newest Star Wars sucked such an incredibly massive dick that I honestly can't say with 100% certainty that it was better than the prequels, which is a mind boggling statement considering just how fucking bad the prequels were. Them's fightin' werds.

With the exception of the Darkhorse comics and the novels written by Zahn and Stackpole, the rest of the EU sucked ass.

Old Expanded Universe was full of nonsense. New "canon" isn't any better. Episode VII wasn't really that great, looking back at it. The original 3 films are good enough for me.

Rey was the biggest Mary Sue character I've seen in films recently.
Horrible character.

So did Mark Hamill when he read the script for the first time, so you weren't alone, haha. (You probably saw me post that above, but I figured you'd find it amusing and didn't want you to miss it)

The EU is also home to my favorite Master and Student relationship in Star Wars. Its fascinating to see a 10 year transform from a little girl who felt the call of the Dark Side to a hardened and ruthless Sith Lord. How they basically lived together for decades, planting the seeds of the Order of Sith Lord's eventual victory, grew stronger in the shadows as they slowly caused the Republic to begin its eventual ruination millennia later. All ultimately culminating in...

Hey deerber I am going to let you in on a secret, after I got banned I made an alt, IDK if anyone else knows........ On topic, does that mean you hated the movie too? Well that's not a secret at all lol! I knew the first alts you made, then I kinda lost count after Alina, I think, with all the alts from everyone, but I'm sure there's always been some "you" there As for the question, yes, I hated it with a passion. From me, it gets 8/10 as a general movie, and 3/10 as Star Wars VII. And that's setting apart all the anger I've got over how they ruined my favorite charater of all time and made him die an idiotic death. Lor San Tekka was your favorite character of all time? Wow I never heard of him until that movie, and his death wasn't that idiotic, I saw it coming a mile away.

^Right the storm troopers backing away slowly was the only redeeming feature of that temper tantrum scene. On the other hand, it makes you wonder if you are actually watching Robot Chicken. Oh and I thought the storm tooper nightstick guy was absurd. Would have been better if Fin (aka FNG) just took out a blaster and shot him Indiana Jones style. But I guess Fin is no Indiana Jones.

Also the EU made the conflict between the Rebel Alliance/New Republic and Galactic Empire far more believable. That conflict raged for nearly twenty years, eleven of that was post Endor. A Galactic Superpower made up of a million or more worlds, hundreds of fleets, billions of soldiers did not crap out merely after losing its leader. New leaders rose, the war raged onward, billions died in the bloodiest modern conflict in the universe. By the new movie's timeline, if we went by the EU? Peace would have come by then, but the Galactic Empire would still openly exist. The Galaxy more or less divided between them and the New Republic.

The New Republic also wasn't apparently one-shotted by Death Star 3.0 (now with even more deth!!!!1 spelling deliberate) while seemingly doing nothing to fight the neo-Nazi First Order, requiring an inexplicably separate "Resistence" to be new Rebels, complete with hilarious underfunding and technology and tactics from 30 years ago.

See the first page of this thread for my vastly understated reaction to that. Mickey bringing him in means they're not completely brain dead but I still have zero faith they won't mess it up somehow more in a more critical way than physical appearance.
