Nevermind Ryder's Stepford wives face but the animation for the gun grab sequence looked off. Like as if that Turian bodyguard had peacefully handed his gun over to Ryder. It looks a lot better when not slowed down and close cropped. If you watch it again in the actual video it looks way better.

I think the faces are okay, but in some places the animations could really be better (e.g. in the disarming scene). And yes ...as I can imagine hair and beards will also be a big problem this time. I do not know a single bioware game, where the hair ever really suited my character. Dragon Age 2 is perhaps the best game in this regard. And as for the beards, the stubble is still the best one to choose. The full beards look like glued to the mouth. Yeah DA2 is the best game Bioware has done in the hairstyles dept shame they never followed up on that yes the rest of the game is a bit lackluster compared to the others in the series but it's still a positive and one that in my opinion had I been working at Bioware I'd have taken advantage of. Let's hope that everything is good in this new game. It certainly looks good to me so far and everything I've been seeing so far has just made me want it more atm. I just hope that trend continues. Hopefully there is a couple of longer options beyond just the ponytail though.

But we'll see what they actually give us to work with. I'd be ecstatic if facial hair beyond stubble didn't look like latexed faux fur plastered all over my guy's face. Fair enough personally I prefer shorter hair for men but longer for women but that's just me. We can agree what we need is more bald options for both This would also be nice; I like having a variety of options for either gender, both long and short. I'd also like to see more variety of hair textures (wavy, kinky, etc) and styles for them than we have in the past, but as long as it's at least more variety than the military cuts of ME1-3, I'll be content. Also, looks like Gamespot has reported about the animation concerns, though most of this is probably rehashing stuff we already know. Of particular note and relevance to the current topic, though:

We can agree what we need is more bald options for both ... ...now I am the one with the @kappanekko 's Inquisitor PTSD Here's an argument for species options for protagonist - going qunari inquisitor deals with your hair related issues. If they did that here turian, krogan, asari, quarian, salarain - you name it, no hair. In fact there might be a rough heuristic there - if you have created many new species for your game and somehow their final designs all turn out to be hairless, you may have a hair animation problem.

I still think everything I've seen is miles better than the old ME3 series. I won't be able to make a real comparison with DA:I until I've played the game. DA:I had great moments, but there could have been more of them. I think it was a huge mistake to develop that game for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and if I had a time machine I'd go back and kill Hitler, invent calorie-free sugar and talk Bioware out of developing Inquisition for those rickety old platforms.

Threads like this can give EA idea to delay the game...
You do realise that?
Well I rather them delay the game when give us something full of defects.
Perfection takes time and I want my first experience in Andromeda to be perfect not perfect but you get what i mean . . .

Because their staff is poking through even these unofficial forums, to evaluate the reception of the game.
They absolutely should delay if it means releasing a polished game. DAI was terrible with facial animations and lipsyncing. Previous ME/DA games weren't perfect but they never screwed with my immersion either. After awhile I just had to skip through DAI's cutscenes because they made me cringe. I was literally embarrassed for Bioware. Yeah I would prefer for my character to look like she didn't just have a face lift and can actually feel her face.
Like a face lift is good but not when you can't make out any expressions

Admittedly, the disarm was on the slow side compared to say, this:
Though I'm not sure if that's due more to animation fail or because Ryder isn't a highly trained military operative. Maybe a mix of both. It does seem too slow a diarm for the turian to not reflexively shoot, though.

Hopefully there is a couple of longer options beyond just the ponytail though. I can't help but appreciate the irony about DA2. It probably has the least detail when it comes to actual CC options, so a lot of faces end up looking very similar, yet it probably has some of the best options for hair among the more recent BioWare titles. Anyways, I kind of have a thing for short hair on my female space heroes, so hopefully there's actually nice options there.

I don't know... the disarming scene worried me more about the animations than the facial movements. Basically the disarming goes like this: - she reaches for the Turian's gun - something messy happens just below the camera angle, and I bet the gun just despawns from the Turian's hand and respawns in hers because...- a second later, her hand comes up again with a perfect grip on the pistol Also, there seems to be someone pointing a gun at her back who kinda forgets to pull the trigger. All in all, not bad for a green, unproven Pathfinder! hahaha!!!! having played previous bioware games i know this might be true!!! Still am i the only one that found the animations good and was not bothered by lip syncing?? Deus ex MD had lip sync a la bad kung fu movie and i got over it pretty fast! andromeda seems miles better in my eyes!

I don't know what some of you are seeing. The faces in Andromeda are the most expressive they have ever been in a Bioware game. And definitely the best looking ones. True, some of the animations are still off but if anyone is expecting a sprawling RPG to look as good as a relatively short linear-ish, non customizable action game such as Uncharted then that person is just being unrealistic in terms of expectations. Exactly!!!!!!!!!!! this is an rpg! lets compare it to rpgs not games like uncharted! ofcourse uncharted is better and its always going to be better. Uncharted focuses on different things than Mass effect. Why on tyou all compare any bioware game to ANY bethesda game?? Ive never seen any complaints about skyrim or TES or fallout games.. and they always have been terrble at animations and facial expressions. On a final note: Andromeda is one step ahead from Inquisition whch in turn was one step ahead of previous games. Bioware is constantly omproving. Stop complaining please!

I prefer short hair for female characters, and long hair for the male ones. I only hope there are some good looking pixie hair this time for the female character, or at least some short hair with bangs. I loved the Jane Shepard hair, it was for me the only decent in the entire selection, but it was only for the default face, that I found ugly. I really hope there are no restriction for the hair this time.

Which is good as we do need to get away a little bit from hair thast looks like a helmet than proper hair. Other companies are starting to make better looking hair even some of EA's other studios have and in fact some already have done this in a lot of their games on the last gen systems as well it's about time Bioware tried to catch up. Based on what I've seen of MEA I'd say it looks like that they're trying at least which is encouraging

yeah I agree it definitely looks like improvements have been made given Sara's hairstyle and the fact her ponytail looked like it was moving as she was running as well so it looks like we have at least swome basic hair physics in there at the very least. Which is good as we do need to get away a little bit from hair thast looks like a helmet than proper hair. Other companies are starting to make better looking hair even some of EA's other studios have and in fact some already have done this in a lot of their games on the last gen systems as well it's about time Bioware tried to catch up. Based on what I've seen of MEA I'd say it looks like that they're trying at least which is encouraging NVIDIA Hair Works 2 looks pretty nice - but I guess it's also really expansive and hardware intensive. As long as there is an option for those that have older less powerful computers I guess it's fine though and most of these games do. I don't have any issues with that as I can run TR without really anjy problems at all but the PC I have atm I bought at the same time as the PS4/XB1 released as I bought it with those consoles in mind as I wanted a machine capable of playing these sorts of games. But yeay the hairworks system is good as is the Tress FX system that AMD uses on it's cards

I was wrong, by the way, it's Tress FX 2 in RotTR, not hairworks. Witcher 3 uses hairworks.
