On an aesthetic standpoint, the backgrounds are some of the best i've ever seen. Like they are stunningly beautiful... However, the facial animations and lip syncing looked terrible, like really really bad. I hope something is done to fix the facial movements during dialog. Also it looks like hair is going to be an issue yet again in another Bioware game. The hair looked bad, and the physics looked terrible...the jogging animation still needs work, it doesn't bother me as much. But the facial animations need a lot of work for sure! I'm sure i'm not the only one who's noticed this.

I think many people don't realize that we all look awkward while jogging. The movement animation was fine and realistic.
The facial movements could be improved but they weren't that bad.

Congrats on the first Negative Nancy thread. I was actually quite pleased for the most part, although I was expecting more of a live demo. I still liked what I saw, the facial animations looked really off don't you think?

Congrats on the first Negative Nancy thread. It is a legitimate criticism however. Those facial animations were bad, and looked worse than ME3 and DA:I. Overall I thought what we saw in the trailer looked good, but facial animations was the one weak area that stood out.

I think these are valid criticisms as well. The facial animations were terrible and it really stood out in the trailer. I don't think OP is being a "negative nancy". Is anyone who makes valid but "negative" criticisms seen as one?

That ponytail is indeed a travesty, we need to send Vivienne and Dorian to Andromeda.

I still liked what I saw, the facial animations looked really off don't you think? Well, I will say that Ryder's smile looked a bit stiff, especially when she was disarming the Turian. I have no expectations as far as hair goes, lol, so I can't be disappointed. Plus, I only ever play as a male protag, so short buzzcut type styles are fine with me.

I personally liked the faces in ME3 and DA2 the most. DA:I had terrible facial graphics, and I'm not even going to talk about the hair. I wonder why Bioware are having such problems with this particular issue... In any event, this is an RPG, not a beauty contest, so I doubt it'll make me not play the game

I'm sure i'm not the only one who's noticed this. I wouldn't worry about the facial animations just yet. Yes, they seemed a bit off (I thought the stream was lagging), but considering it's on the same engine as DA:I, and DA:I was a huge improvement for facial animations over previous Bioware games, I expect that at launch, ME:A's will be at least up to par. I'm not sure what looked so bad about the hair in that trailer, other than the wacky do of the raider worrying me that ME:A might follow DA:I's lead with unconventional styles and buzzcuts making up the majority of options. Hopefully not. And I thought the jogging animation was actually an improvement, simply because the ridiculous female hip-sway of past games was toned down a lot.

they're still polishing them, according to the tweets from the twitter thread. Fahmida Chowdhury @fc_paragon The trailer was awesome. But not to sound nitpicky, the facial animations were a little off, any chance of fixing it? Mac Walters @macwalterslives We'll be polishing the game until they take it from our cold, dead hands. eric gio @invisicow Many fans on /r/masseffect are worried that the face animations + lip syncing are off. Is this something that will get polished? Michael Gamble @gamblemike we will continue to polish until someone comes and rips it from us. Because we you.

Well, lucky for me I planned on my Ryders wearing a helmet most of the time anyway, so if they don't fix this it won't be too big an issue.

Threads like this can give EA idea to delay the game...
You do realise that?
Because their staff is poking through even these unofficial forums, to evaluate the reception of the game.

Hopefully not. Wacky? They're braids. Pretty average, considering the diverse range of natural Black hairstyles. If anything, hairstyles like that give me hope that my black Ryder will have a decent amount of options to choose from for once.

Let them delay it, in fact I would wait another extra few months to play a more polished game... We've already waited 5 years...

Everything in the game looks great in the current state (I boldly assume this level of quality spans accross vast majority of the game already).
The only thing that is average is the facial animations you people complain about. So BioWare has now ~3 months to improve facial animations. 3 months to concentrate mostly on that.
That is a wooping amount of time to get this done people, so if they delay the game simply because of the reaction to facial animations I will be disappointed.

I don't know... the disarming scene worried me more about the animations than the facial movements. Basically the disarming goes like this:
- she reaches for the Turian's gun - something messy happens just below the camera angle, and I bet the gun just despawns from the Turian's hand and respawns in hers because... - a second later, her hand comes up again with a perfect grip on the pistol
Also, there seems to be someone pointing a gun at her back who kinda forgets to pull the trigger. All in all, not bad for a green, unproven Pathfinder!

DA:I had terrible facial graphics, and I'm not even going to talk about the hair. I agree about the hair of course, but you really thought DA:I didn't have good faces? Do you mean expressions, or graphics? Because either way, I contest that point and will simply post these as to why: Sorry for the image spam, but it goes to show there are a lot of good facial expressions! And good faces. I thought, anyway.

The fight choreography, or whatever you want to call it, would look better if she moved a lot faster and pushed the pistol to the side instead.

I'm sure i'm not the only one who's noticed this. I agree with you. The human models have a half cartoonish look to them. Reminds me of the characters from that Team Fortress game. That look Ryder makes when disarming the turian chick was just weird and kind of creepy; that ridiculous smile was cringe worthy. No one disarms someone while looking like a toddler playing with a new toy. Look at those eyes. What is she even staring at during the whole thing? The fact that THAT was what they felt was ready to be shown is troubling.
I guess we can assume our arc came out of cryo late. The fact that it's devolved to a point where there are established crime syndicates and outposts would indicate very late.

Yeah... that Turian (of all the races out there) must be a real Mr. Butterfingers for that maneuver to not end in disaster.
