Since then, when I've wanted to get both in the same playthrough, I have pretty much used a little bit of glitching to ensure they both unlock earlier in the game. One thing that could have skewed my original one (if that point rise had been taken off then) is that Hackett will only tell Shepard about one at a time... even if both unlock during the same mission. I'm not sure if I kept that particular spread sheet... but if I have I can try to replicate the playthrough now to see if the one mission unlocks earlier. This is true. I recall that I once missed Nassana Dantius's call to the Normandy because Hackett was busy alerting me about the rogue VI. Later I discovered that if you have multiple messages queued up at the galaxy map, you can purge the entire set by repeatedly zooming out to the cluster level then zooming down to the system level. Each time you do that you'll get the next message. Wow, great tip... I never would have thought of that. Thanks!

That's the thing.. Not killing the Queen or Wrex for this playthrough. But still trying to maintain mostly Renegade with smaller choices. Plus, I saved Kate in BDtS. This is harder than it sounds I'm at Virmire now though and already got a little past the 3rd bar. And about 1 1/2 of the Paragon bar. Not bad. My last playthrough was almost pure Renegade, but just seeing if I can get the best of both now. Good luck without putting some points into Charm/Intimidate. It can certainly be done pretty close to 50/50 (unlocking both Beseiged Base and the Negotiation before Ilos) if you have the charm/intimidate in place and maximize pretty much everything for either paragon or renegade points and by playing BDtS late in the game so that point increase needed to unlock things doesn't kick in too early. You can still save the Queen, Wrex, and the Feros colonists... I did it about 2 years ago. I can't remember which way I had to go with Balak though and I'm not sure which background I started out with. I'm pretty sure I had to kill Charn and I know I had to intimidate Jeong for that 25 renegade (which takes 10 initimidate). I'll leave you to it then. I hope you make your goal. Sorry... did a bad job of explaining myself. Since these are single runs (don't plan on new game plus), I've put a little into intimidate. But yeah, that's that's only way I can do it. People knock ME2/3's way of doing things, but I like it much more. You can naturally get away with being Renegade in "attitude", but being a decent guy with some big choices.

FemShep has an N7 logo on her cocktail dress in ME3 (sometimes? I think I noticed it when she went to meet Joker at the sushi place, but not at the casino). She's really proud of that rank huh? But they make black leatherette minidresses with N7 logos on them? Just for FemShep? There can't be a big market for that.

But a short cut one, like Jack's or Aria's.

I prefer the dress from ME2 myself and the shoes, and the whole outfit really. But I don't have the hoodie and i hate the "slum dweller/bin man" casual look. My Sheps don't claim to be dedicated followers of fashion, but even they have to draw the line somewhere. I like your suggestion.

Thankfully, I could play the game on my subpar PC, so I mod. I actually hate the ugly shoes on that Kasumi dress and it make Shepard's cleavage somewhat leathery in both ME2 and ME3. Also, I realized that SpacerShepard's mom was at Mindoir. I could work in my headcanon that Hannah Shepard saved a girl from the rubbles and later the girl changed her name to Shepard.

If things haven't changed regarding BDtS, the second morality question should not unlock before being en route to Ilos (even if I clear of Hackett's messages as you describe). If things have changed, it should unlock just before Virmire. If you want to take a look, I think I can pare down the spreadsheet to just show all the P/R selections I made and attach it. Otherwise, I can perhaps start a rerun of it and let you know exactly when it unlocks... it'll take me a few weeks though to get to playing it.

I would be happy to examine your spreadsheet; I too keep track of P/R choices so I could check whether our numbers match. I wouldn't ask you to do a complete run just to answer a question of mine, but for this question it might be as "easy" as Eden Prime -> Citadel story missions -> Save -> Noveria Lorik Qui'in glitch to pump up to 275 in both meters. Then see if you've got two assignments queued up for you on the Normandy. Then repeat from the Save point, landing first on X57 to see if 275 is still all you need. Even that is some amount of work so I'd owe you a favor if you did it. Or I could just get a console and start doing my own dirty work.

I've left the headers in of all the missions to keep the full order of mission since I know some of them have to be done to gain access to ones that do have P/R (like Hades Dogs). I'll look at it closer to see what I maybe can skip to make things go faster and start a run at it to see what happens. Hope this attachment thingy works on spreadsheets. ME Both Paragon and Renegade Run.xlsx (17.06 KB) I may also try to tweak the decisions a bit to see if I can save Shiala without jeopardizing the "test" of BDtS's influence. ETA: I started my playthrough and spotted one error in my spreadsheet... When dealing with the Dr. Michel assignment on the Citadel, using the line I show yields 9 Renegade rather than just 2. I must have selected the other Renegade option (i.e. [Kill him]) and recorded the wrong line. It really doesn't change much and should not affect the test... It just means I have enough slack to save Shiala if I intimidate Dr. Michel's blackmailer rather than kill him. Most everything should unlock at the same points.

I may also try to tweak the decisions a bit to see if I can save Shiala without jeopardizing the "test" of BDtS's influence. I finally had a chance to compare notes. I only found the following discrepancies: - Morlan & Blackmailer - "Talk and you're dead!" should give you 9 renegade points, not 2
- Keeler - No intimidate is needed to perform this action
- UNC: Besieged Base - I never get the 2 renegade points for refusing the assignment, but Hackett does continuously nag me about it
Even with the corrections, you did not yet have 275 renegade points when you completed Feros, but in your game you obtained the renegade assignment. This alone seems to confirm that the version of the game you are playing still uses the rules as spelled out on the wiki. I won't be surprised if the other rules are followed too. Wow, the PC port definitely made things easier for the player. Anyway, thanks very much for having taken good notes. If you do perform your BDtS test, I'd love to know your results.

During the coup, in one of the C-SEC offices, there's a data pad from Shaw to Mao. There are references in it to "the Major". Is that supposed to be Kaidan? I've never read this data pad before but I have heard that Kai Leng and the VS were originally supposed to have greater roles in the coup. Is this a leftover from that?

Maybe. Not sure I've found that datapad either. Could also be Major Coats? I wonder if it's the same if Ashley is VS instead?

As noted, this was done a couple of years ago... if things were changed, then when I do the playthrough this time it won't work out the same. As you indicate, the Renegade should not unlock after Feros but both should still unlock before Ilos. Just to be sure, I've decided to make it a complete playthrough starting with a new character. I'll post things as I go to the "What did you do today" thread.

I've never read this data pad before but I have heard that Kai Leng and the VS were originally supposed to have greater roles in the coup. Is this a leftover from that? As far as I know, the VS didn't have anything to do with the Coup before. Or Kai Leng. It was Terra Firma working with Hanar (the indoctrinated Hanar from Kasumi's quest). It was more of a parallel to Thane's loyalty mission with that Turian in ME2. Except Shep now investigated the wards against humans, trying to find a bomb that Terra Firma and the Hanar set up. It then led to a bigger mission on the Hanar homeworld, where Thane or Kolyat joined you.

A random Ghost In The Shell reference, perhaps? There's a couple of fairly random references to sci-fi tv shows, books and stuff on datapads. I found a Dr Who one on Mars. Sorry, I can't remember what it said when I went through with my Ashmancing Shep, I quite often overlook these things as just being "local colour", but that's sometimes a mistake in these games, see Sten from DAO.

I guess because Kaidan had recently been promoted, and we don't really see many others of his rank, I was jumping to conclusions. The snipped message also explains why Anderson wouldn't allow any contact between Shepard and the VS.

No real place to put this and it is not worthy of its own thread ... NSA contractor arrested in alleged theft of classified materialWhy? 'Cause of this ... "The arrest comes less than two months after hackers attempted to auction off what they claim is the source code to a vaunted, likely state-sponsored hacking group many believe is affiliated with the NSA. The FBI began investigating the alleged leak in August, according to reports. There is no definitive proof the auction is genuine, but security researchers say files released to prove the code's authenticity appear valid. The hacking group, known as the Shadow Brokers, has yet to conclude the bidding." Hmmm ...

This likely already was mentioned but the Scions on Horizon in ME2 can be sniped or killed with powers through the scope if Shepard doesn't enter the courtyard. Killing them off skips the fight with the husks and lets you activate the console to get the guns back online.

I discovered that after you turn in the cure for Dr. Cohen, 7 of the NPCs at Rift Station have a new line of dialogue relating to Shepard's actions. In one case it may even be a different voice actor, though I'm not 100% sure of that.

I tried a Pied Piper run, hoping to lure these rachni soldiers on Nepmos to Lt. Durand's position to see what would happen, but alas, they de-spawned about half way there. I wonder if that's a general rule, that enemies always have limited range. Next time I'm on Virmire I'm going to try pushing a Colossus all the way to the salarian camp.

In ME2 the when talking to Anderson on the Citadel the dialog is different if you wait until after Horizon. Usually I see Anderson way before Horizon. It's a very nice detail. Talk to him after completing the suicide mission. Its nearly the same as when you see him at the beginning of the game.

I discovered that some of the rachni soldiers inside the mine at Nepmos carry upgrades! But you can only shake them loose via Damping. On this particular run I ended up scoring 6 upgrades by the time I was done in this mine. Not that the first game is short on loot...

In ME2 the when talking to Anderson on the Citadel the dialog is different if you wait until after Horizon. Usually I see Anderson way before Horizon. It's a very nice detail. Talk to him after completing the suicide mission. Its nearly the same as when you see him at the beginning of the game. Yeah, pity he never comments on returning from SM. It's like nothing happened. I've never delayed the first visit that long, though. I normally go to him ASAP (sometimes after doing Normandy crashsite).
