When people talk about Reyes as the possible gay love interest I think of these two... Now I've been thoroughly set up to be disappointed because the likelihood of Alfonso Herrera being the face model for Reyes seems low, and now I will settle for nothing less.  |

Has anyone managed to find a link between Reyes and the name on one of the arks "Parcero" ?*puts on tinfoil hat* Wild speculation below.... Parcero can be a Spanish slang word for dude, mate, homie, bro etc. Reyes is a Spanish name/word that can be translated or refer to kings or royalty in english. The voice in the trailer really sounded like a Quarian. Perhaps the name Reyes refers to his "vas" or "nar" name as in "vas Reyes" or "nar Reyes." Maybe Reyes is the ship he was born on or serves on. Why do I think his ship has a Spanish name just because the the side of the ark has a Spanish name? Because we can see the relationship between our own ark and one of our own vehicles. Hyperion and Nomad are both derived from the Greek language. Hyperion was a Titan in Greek mythology and "nomad" also has Greek origins and it refers to "one roaming about for pasture, pastoral tribe, is a member of a community of people who live in different locations, moving from one place to another." I don't think we've ever heard anyone refer to any Quarian with their ship name. Tali was never referred to as Neema (or Normandy ), Zaal'Koris as Qwib-Qwib or Daro'Xen as Moreh. If anything, they used their clan names, Zorah, Koris and Xen. So it's unlikely that this is what happens with Reyes. Now I agree with you that guy BroRyder punches doesn't sound like Reyes at all, so it's unlikely to be him unless the audio didn't match the video at that point. |

Anyway, even if he didn't want to tell us his full name, he could go for his clan name, but I'd find it extremely odd that out of the blue we found a Quarian which goes for the name of his ship, when this hasn't happened with any of the Quarians we have enountered in any ME media. On the Ark name, it is odd, yes. But to be honest, I'm a native Spanish speaker and I had never heard that word before, so I wouldn't rule out that the name is a coincidence and not a conscient design choice. Not to mention how odd it would be for Turians to choose the Spanish language to name their ships. They inexplicably use the Latin alphabet though, so who knows. |

I'll just say something regarding Parcero discussion - it goes from one Latin word (and turians are definitely loving Latin), partiarius (or pars) - "part", if I am to translate it. Considering that all arks are eventually "parts" of a Nexus (it was mentioned that they'll need to dock), turians could've gone for the simple naming solution, calling their ark this way. Or part of the AI. Or something like that.
Honestly, turians don't strike me as a race that would use "bro", "dude" and "homie" for their ship.

Personally, I don't want Reyes to be a Quarian. Not because of the whole "will Quarians be in Andromeda or not" debate (I'm neutral on that one), but because I worry that Reyes being a Quarian means he'll be straight. That might initially seem like a stupid assumption to make, but they tend to make alien male characters heterosexual (and we have no evidence that Jaal will be bisexual in the final product despite speculation) and they're aware that a lot of the vocal Quarian fans (i.e. fans of a certain Quarian I will not name and their obsession with her sweat) are straight. Due to those two factors, I hope he's not a Quarian.
If Liam and Jaal end up being straight, I at least want one guy on the Tempest to be gay or bi. Come on, Bioware.

It seems that I'm not the only one from spain here, thanks Reyes and El Duque for that XD I don't find Miguel Ángel Silvestre that appealing, yeah he is handsome enough and have a great body, just not my cup of tea. About him being a quarian I think it would be great, but I really doubt it  as long this character has a great content and a wonderful romance story I'm fine. The fact that is Nicholas Boulton his VA is great, so for the moment all is good! |

Not because of the whole "will Quarians be in Andromeda or not" debate (I'm neutral on that one), but because I worry that Reyes being a Quarian means he'll be straight. That might initially seem like a stupid assumption to make, but they tend to make alien male characters heterosexual (and we have no evidence that Jaal will be bisexual in the final product despite speculation) and they're aware that a lot of the vocal Quarian fans (i.e. fans of a certain Quarian I will not name and their obsession with her sweat) are straight. Due to those two factors, I hope he's not a Quarian. If Liam and Jaal end up being straight, I at least want one guy on the Tempest to be gay or bi. Come on, Bioware. Please no....I want a gay alien romance and Jaal seems perfect... I haven't followed Jaal's thread or... anything about him really lol, but it's hard to look at a thread title these days without some Jaal reference or something... isn't he all but confirmed as bi? I mean it would seem logical. I like to think that the ME team can't be so... umm what's the word here ... as to pull a "it didn't make sense for the character to be bi" on Jaal... So I'm pretty sure it's safe to expect a bi Jaal  If this proves to be wrong I have already prepared voodoo dolls. Need to get some pins though...  |

I really really hope we get a bi/gay male alien. 
as long this character has a great content and a wonderful romance story I'm fine. The fact that is Nicholas Boulton his VA is great, so for the moment all is good!
