Andromeda Initiative briefings (6/6 Golden Worlds and Settlements)

Ah - I came to check we'd seen it.

I'd sign up for that in RL despite the fact that it'd be 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% certain you'd die on the trip.

I must be an optimist.

I see that the "Bioware better not f- this up," and "Humans again," folks have arrived.

Now the four year old bitter ending gang is next.

Anyways, nice teaser. Just a few more days now.

The narrator is Colonial whats his face that gave my Shepard flack for not allowing him to inspect the Normandy, he can go and bleep himself!

Same thoughts. Sounds like Daddy to me, but could also be Bro. Not sure which of them is on the trailer, could be either (and the girl must be Sis)

As for the starting timeline - my money are on 2183 (pre\beginning of ME1...hense - no Reapers and no need to even mention Shep). Why had something that big never ever been mnentioned in trilogy, though?..

600 years... man, it's so amazing we finally left... Earth? Why is Earth in the focus again? Why do they present the expedition to Andromeda as if we just left Earth for "space"? Oh, oh, I get it, this is so newcomers get it because they wouldn't be interested in a nerdy lore about Milky Way and aliens.  Psssh.

Well I'm more than ready to go and I'm perfectly happy to get hyped and excited and really look forward to being back in the the Mass Effect universe while at the same time I don't expect the universe on a stick...
you know some philosopher said that we experience the video games we choose in the way we expect to experience them... on second thoughts that might have been about life or something...
aaaaany my point is that YOU CANT TAKE THE SKY FROM ME and at the moment the sky and all the shiney is waiting for me in Andromeda so imma gonna be happy and hyped until my dreams as dashed by actual gameplay, poor logic or bad romances

My two guesses:
1. The Andromeda Initiative was kept secret from the general public.

2. There was never a reason to mention it. Most in-game conversations focus solely on the task at hand or what's going on in that particular moment. Almost every conversation in ME3 for example brings up the Reaper war, either directly or indirectly. As such, would there really be a reason for anyone to bring up the AI. They would be already well on their journey, possibly dead from a ship malfunction for all anyone on Earth knew.

See, you get it wrong too. It's not "our home" because "we" are aliens too, not you and me, but the characters that are center-stage in these games. It's been that way since ME2 except BioWare has this huge boner for humanity and Earth, or rather, Supermac has.

Of course it won't be the focus of the game once it's well into the campaign, but it's the focus of the trailer. They present it as if it's the first time humanity has made it to space. I get that this is something people relate to IRL more, but it seems backwards with the canon it's linked to and I still don't like how humans are overemphasised at this point into the franchise, especially when you consider that there are also aliens on board the expedition. Do they look nostalgic at Earth too?

"Wow, humanity made it to Andromeda". Don't you see the problem with that notion when there's just as many aliens both on board the Andromeda Initiative in the game and as a set of characters fans love just as much as human characters. The focus on humanity is false to what the story really is (supposed to be).

ME1 was about humanity. ME:A is about galactic society (humans and aliens) entering a place that is alien to them, and making a much larger cultural clash with another pre-determined civilization (we should think)

I, for one, am excited. Sign me up for launch! Yes, there are a lot of timing/timeline questions but I'm reasonably certain those will be answered in due course.
