Why? Because what practical use is there for a massive open space on the top of a ship except to mount a weapon emplacement or additional armor? Seeing as how the Pathfinder's cabin is occupying that prime real estate, coupled with the pilot's admission that there is no main gun, would seem to indicate that it either had to be removed or excluded from the design of the ship in order to accommodate that enormous living space. That or the higher ups in the Andromeda Initiative didn't think that measly things like ship mounted weapons would be necessary in securing a new home in uncharted space within an unexplored galaxy. Either way somebody done goofed. If they pick engineers in the same way they pick security staff it would explain that.

The interior does really feel mass effecty, with all that equipment and boxes we have seen before. Also, i dont care if the cabin is huge, its my room and im the boss and i dont like small spaces. Its perfect!

and Bioware, yet again, paints us as the outnumbered, outgunned underdogs I am starting to appreciate the halo 4-5 premises more and more....sigh They will try to paint us in that light. I have yet to see anything in-game or Codex-wise though out the entire series that indicates humanity is some kind of scrappy underdog. Humanity in Mass Effect is as an underdog like The Flash is an underdog in a footrace with quadriplegics. we are going in 20k strong with, apparently, none of our big guns up against the kett who are likely numbered in the billions and might be as tech advanced as humanity (and I do not mean just humanity but all the AI). How are we not the underdogs?

Well, if neither the Nomad nor the Tempest have anything resembling an effective main gun, then the Nexus better turns out to be some kind of death star. Surely we didn't ship 20,000 colonists to an unknown galaxy with only hand held infantry weapons to defend them?

It's...it's beautiful! And I don't care if it's realistic or not. Indeed she is that's one of the reasons why I can't wait to take command I want to make sure she's well looked after during my missions. She may even put the Normandy SR1 to shame and that was a lovely ship too. Yup, she's a real eye candy, elegant and sleek. And the name's more than fitting to its character.

Because of humanity's "genetic diversity", because of our ability to conceive other aliens to abandon their home worlds to come Take Back Earth despite it have no tactical significance, because it was only us humans who were able to unravel the mysteries of the Leviathans, track down the Shadow Broker, invent QECs; communication capabilities outside the Relay network; conceive of the concept for carrier class ships, achieve Spectre and Council status in less than thirty years, etc. BioWare will try and stack the odds against us, but every depiction of humanity in-universe has us as the undisputed ubersmench of the setting. It will come across as more of a forced attempt at seeing us as underdogs rather than a genuine plight and fear for our species (IMO).

If they pick engineers in the same way they pick security staff it would explain that. Which would then explain why that little 'Uprising' was able to gain so much traction, no one has any guns. Apparently, the design was about it having as little weight as possible for stealth purpose. That's the reasoning behind the lack of heavy armor or main gun, not the cabin. I don't mind a recon ship having less weapon and armour (though I do think it should I have SOME weapons). If the Initiative as a whole has no warship, then yes, it's pretty dumb. I'm not sure if it's not something intentional though.

I can understand the Nomad having no guns from a developer's point of view, as it involves more work adding the game mechanics and balancing out combat. However, not equipping the ship with a main gun makes no sense. Most of those combat scenes are subject to cut scenes anyway, so it shouldn't involve that much more effort.
What's more, the sheer idea of an organisation visiting a different galaxy of which they have no clue what it actually contains, and simply have them assume their ships will be able to outrun or hide from any potential foe is laughable.

I think for the Tempest is more about it being a recon ship, although the Initiative as whole is shaping up to be too much optimistic, clueless or propaganda with their statements. Which is likely the reason behind the protests and separations.

As this is a roleplaying game, the actual substance would be a showcase of what the roleplaying experience is like. That's story, player agency and the narrative as a whole. So far Andromeda feels like a Mass Effect version of No Man's Sky. You went into a video briefing of the ship/nomad expecting that? No? Why would I do that? I made an observation and comment of the marketing as a whole, not this specific video. They should focus less on the graphical aspects and more on showcasing how the game actually plays, since that is the most relevant information for potential buyers. So far they've released a few clips of stuff combat gameplay, but virtually no RPG gameplay besides a short conversation with a cringeworthy interrupt animation.

The Tempest looks cool, and our pilot looks like a fun character. I'll probably enjoy interacting with him.
Would have liked to see some of the other crew members, but I can understand why they wouldn't want to reveal so much of the primary cast at this stage.

Our attempts at space exploration are based on the same concepts too. Of course the same argument can be made that they know that other species can be hostile but if exploration of the unknown is the main objective and they do not know what they will find, having more guns or less guns is irrelevant in a recon team. Also we do not know the shape of the military, we are not N7s so we run and do not engage most probably in space fights.
