This isn't the first time we've had the casings issue. Zaeed ejects a hot casing in his loyalty mission, and causes a strut/upright to collapse on himself. I always cringe, and tell myself it's a heat sink. The N7 Typhoon spews casings, as if it's firing 20C ammunition. It's a nice touch, except that it's completely out of place. They mess this stuff up all the time. The rifles in MEA still appear to fire from the scope, rather than the barrel, in most of the vids I've bothered to check. It's annoying, but most people just aren't sharp enough to keep track of the details. This clearly includes many game devs. Edit: partially ninja'd by you Indeed, it's one of those things that really bothers me because it makes no sense, and they should know better. Kind of like when you see archers in a video game/movie/tv series. Archers that don't know how to grab the bow, don't know how to nock the arrow, and don't know that you don't "grab" the string, you hold it. I'm thinking that's the answer... I mean, they did it with the Typhoon after all, an then there's that scene with Zaed in ME2 in which he uses a "casing" to light fire in the ground. Thermal clips were always portrayed as a single piece, one cylinder relatively big. I don't get why they can't follow they own lore sometimes. The Thermal Clips you find in the world and the ones you eject from your weapon are a different size. It's a video game thing. In ME2 the YMIR mech dropped Thermal Clips with each shot (much like the Typhoon) and the Hot Casing Zaeed uses is a Thermal Clip. I'm not sure I like the multiple Thermal Clips dropped out of the shotgun, but I like the new reload animations in general. I did like how the guns are more animated when they reload and whatnot. I appreciate that because we can finally see how the reload process is instead of guessing like it was in previous games. I just can't stand the fake casings being dropped like candy when these are not conventional weapons and they spend a good time explaining in the past how such weapons work, only to come back and do a partial 180 degree turn.

There's no way each "round" from the Typhoon should expend a thermal clip, and game mechanics surely don't support as much. Such thinking is simply a fan's effort to apply lore to devs' casual sloppiness. The Typhoon's strength lies in rate of fire, not in power per shot. I, too, apply this logic too Zaeed's scene. I feel they should've used consistent coloring, though, to make their intention clear. YMIRs are irrelevant, as far as I'm concerned, since they could very well carry loose ammunition on-board; or massive heat sinks; or whatever else suits the narrative. (I've never read up much on the YMIR.) What do you mean by consistent coloring? I think the clips you eject from your gun also glow orange. Typhoon is just rule of cool, I agree with that. The power of the weapon certainly doesn't warrant dropping a thermal clip with each shot and I don't really like it (just like I'm not too fond of the many Katana "shells")

Not really a topic I expected the Andromeda Initiative videos cover, but I'll take it.
Those were holographic enemies, big empty field besides that building. Wonder if we'll have some kind of simulation to try out weapons?

I think the music in the Initiative videos is exceptional. What bothers me is that they haven't used any of it for the other trailers. Liked Liam's voice, different than what i expected, but nice.

This was kinda of pointless video, wasn't it? Not everything, but most of it. Eh, I liked it, and seeing the first mentions of weapon modding was nice and all, but I can't help but feel that this should have been released before they started with the gameplay videos. After seeing actual gameplay, this shooting one random enemy in a barren place felt a bit bland.

Is the progress bar not progressing for anybody else? I've watched the new briefing 3 times now, and it's still at 4/6. Edit: I had to rewatch the previous briefing for some reason, although I'm a 100 % sure that I had watched it on the site before. It shows 5/6 now, so I guess everything's fine. You might need to be logged in.

Looks like Bioware is so unsure about their facial animations that they had to slap a helmet on Liam. Poor showing.
Otherwise, combat looks like fun and will probably turn out fine. Minor note of criticism is the clipping issue at the end of the trailer, but that's something that happens in any game. Nice briefing overall then.

It makes sense that it was glowing hot, but I'd have likely included those darker bands around the ends, or something, so that it didn't look just like a bullet casing. I acknowledge that this is nit-picking at its finest.

Honestly the video wasn't bad... But we've just seem so much combat gameplay and have read about it a lot already that it was a bit boring compared to the other briefings. I think it should've been posted before. Most interesting thing about it for me was to hear Liam's voice more

Umm...since when did ME small arms start ejecting spent shells and rounds? I was under the belief that they ejected heat sinks. Did BioWare forget their own rules again? They are heat sinks. Ian addressed this directly via Twitter. He said it was a conscious designchoicd to meld present lore with more "shotgunny" feels, in the case of the Katana. We had a decently long conversation about it on the last page, or so. It will take some getting used to, but I think it's cool, as long as it still respects the established lore. "One sink to fit them all" never made sense, anyway.

That I can agree with... still, making new thermo clips on the fly with your omni tool as long as you got resources "on the bank" still feels strange. I'm all for more diverse animations/mechanics for specific weapons.
