I understand the need for equality and additional female representation in videos but does anyone feel uncomfortable with the inclusion of female mooks just for the player to shoot/stab or otherwise brutalize? I don't really see how faceless female enemies really contributes much to gender equality. Call me hypocritical but I was brought up with the belief that there is no excuse for a man to ever raise a hand against a woman (except i suppose in extreme cases of self defence, but even then I don't think I would ever deliberately hurt a girl) and personally I feel much more comfortable shooting at 'male' enemies.

It's a genuine question. Where do we draw the line between representation and violence against women?

Ok so if you're in that position, wait for the female mooks to shoot you so that you feel justified in self-defense.

Bizarre attitude that it's ok to shoot male mooks but not female ones.

Sigh, I suppose that a mature discussion of what constitutes an acceptable depiction of violence towards women is too advanced for some people.

Bizarre attitude that it's ok to shoot male mooks but not female ones. That's the "new" understanding of gender equality colliding with traditional male gender roles... it happens. ...and no, it's not the "female privilege" of always being the protected gender, it's just sexism. JK, of course.

What's there to discuss? If it tries to kill me, it gets a load of pellets to the face regardless of gender, skin color, religious creed or whatever.
That said, not all enemy mooks are equal in some people's eyes. Remember the screams over RE5 and its flesh eating people of color?

Wow, I feel like I traveled thru time to Old BSN. weird. And for the sake of keeping it on topic, my answear: If someone (man, woman, robot, kid, alien, animal, statue, three, rock, etc. you get the point) threatens me, I will do what it takes to survive. You should not underestimate an enemy just because she is a woman. (all asari is female) and a bullet is a bullet, no matter who the hell is holding the weapon. (In real life you should never hit someone without reason anyway, so I don't see what this have with the question.)

Nope. I have no more problem killing female mooks than I do male ones because I don't think it's more wrong to hit a woman than it is to hit a man. Bioware games have always had faceless female NPCs to kill in its games, and not only do I not mind, I actually prefer it that way. Especially when the player character can be a woman. It'd be weird to be literally the only female soldier in the entire galaxy.

The female anatagonists have some-kind power, and they represents their power, not womens (Knight Commander Meredith for example). If they abusing with their power, they are dangerous. We need to eliminate this danger, not to bullying a defenseless woman.

If someone is attacking you, you have a reason to defend yourself, of course if that involve killing that person so be it. But I can't just go up till someone and hit/kill that person without a good reason, (and no, "feel like it" is not a good reason) Hope this is helpful for you in real life. If you have any questions I will try to help you.

Clearly these games need more equality.
I propose that the player, after going through a mission killing the children of the Rachni, stepping on and crushing all the swarmers, and incarcerating all those drones; that they go through an orphanage killing human children, stepping on and crushing all the infants, and incinerating all the those toddlers.
Fair is fair after all.

OP this is a video game, and practically every single video game out there you are guess what shooting female npc's etc , also we all know the difference between Real life/Reality and video games which is not real life. I also do not agree with the OP at all and nothing should be changed because someone can't handle violence in a video game, I think that since the OP has a problem with this that he should play Minecraft single player and make sure that it is in peaceful mod or don't play any video games and then you probably don't want to watch movies either because in movies and in some tv shows they have this violence you don't like but guess what it isn't real, it is acting/pretend just like video games isn't real and we all should know again the difference between real life/reality and video games
