I voted for boyfriend/girlfriend just because it would feel rushed in the time frame of a single game. If Ryder returns for future instalments then topic of both should at least be topics for discussion. That's a good point. If the option to marry characters were to exist, then it should be made that not all of of the love interests want to settle down. Maybe they're okay with their relationship as is and don't care for ceremonies to bind themselves together or they're okay with marriage, just not having any kids. Those are just examples. Whether they happen or not doesn't matter to me.

I'd have loved to have seen marriage in ME3. But I'm not sure a game can earn marriage from me in the course of only 1 game unless time passes. I'd love to see the cast return for a sequel and have marriage possible then, and kids in a third game. I would have loved to have seen marriage in ME3 or something equivalent with alien LI. If it's well done I think I could get behind marriage in the course of 1 game. DA:I did that pretty well imo since 2 years had passed (even if I didn't get the option having romanced Cassandra ) of course it depends on the characters too. For exemple I just can't imagine Isabella marrying Hawke I think she has too many bad memories associated with it to want to go trough that again plus she seems very free spirited and in my mind doesn't need a ceremony or a piece of paper to really commit to Hawke. Same could be said of Morrigan since marriage is associated to a religion and political regime that wants to see her dead ^^'. As for kids I agree it would be cool to have some in a sequel, not necessarily as a big part of a storyline a mention and a picture, maybe a short cut-scene just to add a bit to your character, to your motivation. I very much enjoyed Kieran in DA:I and the impact he obviously had on Morrigan. Or it could be the reason one companion of a previous game wouldn't join up again. First time I played ME2 I wondered if Liara wouldn't join up because she was hiding a little someone back home. And I played LotSB soon after that and my little theory was crushed lol but I wouldn't have been opposed to the idea. But that would work only if you play a straight male or romance an asari.

Definitely agree that marriage should depend on the characters involved. Marriage wasn't an option for all LI in DA:I but it kind of made sense who it was available for. I think children would complicate things within the course of only 1 game, but like you said could provide interesting character development as time passes. I guess children / pregnancy could show up in an epilogue or as an ending, but I think it'd be a nightmare to deal with mid-story since the nature of the ME:A tale doesn't seem to have a good place for the events to pause and have an "9 months later" screen show up.

I agree I don't see them doing to time-jump in an ME game, in the game itself anyway but they could do a time-jump with a dlc like they did with DA:I. I don't see either a situation like DA:O Noble Dwarf where you can get a child with a random npc. I guess it's going to depend if we keep the same protagonist for the same game or if they're going to do a dragon age with each game a new protagonist. If they change then we could see an ending with your LI or yourself being pregnant or having a child because if you're going to colonize a new habitat one of the first thing you do once you're settled is breed. ^^ If they keep the same protagonist then it depends on how much time passed in between the games. In any case I don't see it happen in the first game.

I hovered between options 2 and 5. I'd do the marriage thing if it was available with the right character. Option 5 is far more likely. Definitely no kids though, in the situation(s) Ryder will find themselves in, a kid would just get in the way. Unless they're planning some mid-game time skip they'd just be annoying needy infants anyway.

I voted for marriage but no kids. Don't get me wrong I love kids but having them while trying to find a new home and fighting enemies just doesn't seem very logical. I wouldn't mind Ryder and LI talking about a future family though. As long as it's only mentioned once or twice and not in every conversation. The marriage idea sounds good though and more reasonable and doable to me personally.

Voted marriage but no kids i just don't think that would be on Ryder mind or a good idea waking up in a new galaxy taking over his father role as pathfinder and trying to find a new home for his race. Maybe it will get mentioned but he has a lot more important things on his plate.
And having kids in one game seems to soon for me but if Ryder finds a new home to colonize at the end of the game then it would make more sense then.

Why do so many still assume our potential children will be born during the game? Most likely we will have the option to adopt an orphan. if Andromeda takes place over a series of years (like Dragon Age 2), we could see the results of our parenting. Doubt it, but I wouldn't mind the possibility.

I'm totally cool with marriage and kids but I'd rather the kids thing happened in the epilogue or in a DLC. I don't want my Ryder pregnant running around in dangerous scenarios. That'd just be awkward and weird. Unless it's an adoption thing which I think would be pretty cool, honestly.

Marriage would be fine. Kids... that's a bit much. Too Simsy. I mean, what would they do with the gay partnerships? I guess, in this sci-fi futuristic game, they likely have the tech to produce biological children from two men or women... but, too many people in 2017 would flip the F out (despite the fact that it's a real successful science).

I voted for free agent, assuming that a character who values family and kids wouldn't have volunteered for a one-way ticket to an unknown galaxy in the first place. Also, family would just be a distraction from the all important duties of the Pathfinder, so I'd rather keep that to a minimum.
Maybe once all the Pathfinder work is done and the human colonists are safe in their new home in Andromeda, but certainly not before.

Kids in video games and this franchise in particular don't have the best track record.... Oh yes...all of you voting yes for kids, remember him? Hey, nothing was wrong with the " real" child! It actually made me feel bad for leaving Earth, in the beginning. The Catalyst wasn't really a child, but I think it was picking apart Shepard's mind and since Shep felt so bad, to the point of having nightmares constantly, it picked the child as it's avatar to "talk" to Shepard. After all, Reapers are known for getting into your head!

With the exception of DA2, the games don't take place over a long enough time period where I'd be comfortable with anything that serious happening.

I don't see the fascination that some people have with Marriage and Kids in Video games. So no...No Marriage or Kids for me, in my game!
