Because they were making fun of plaidweave. Check my gun in the picture. Polka dotted machine guns. Plus, they're pink.

Not enough Claymore in here... it must return or there will be riots! In addition I hope the Geth Sniper Rifle or an equivalent god tier sniper rifle makes a return if there are no geth in this game at all. Wraith was cool and my favourite shotgun - hope that comes back. Oh and definitely the Graal! And I agree the Saber was a nice weapon too.

They just better remove that freakin' non-ADS penalty on all sniper rifles, I tell ya. Bioware is very anti No Scope. Oh hell yes - this was such arbitrary BS. I do hope they remove the penalty and let us have full damage no scope possible.

The Revenant makes a return I see, I just hope not in the pee shooter form the gameplay trailer showed it. This weapon in ME2 was a powerhouse and it was a hell of a ride using it. The ME3 version was a bit timid in comparison.

I hope weapon modding improves some stats at the expense of others. Makes customizing the weapons a lot more interesting that way.

Will there be weapon mods? Yes, according to Bio.
Will we be able to buy them? Yes, with in-game currency, according to Bio.
Will we be able to manufacture out own mods, say via blueprints? Hints from Bio indicates a yes answer.
Will "crafted" mods be permanent? Good question. I don't know.
Will mods bought via in-game currency be permanent? I suspect a strong NO. Probably works same as ME3MP.
Will we be able to "paint a design" or apply "notches" to our weapons? Good question. I don't know.
I do like the ability to apply notches or equivalent symbol to indicate our kills. That could even generate some dialogue options.

I hope weapon modding improves some stats at the expense of others. Makes customizing the weapons a lot more interesting that way. Maybe past a certain threshold? A single mod, or alternatively "basic mods", would be a straight upgrade, but serious modifications (either more powerful mods or multiple mods) always come at a cost. This would either require a "quality tier" among mods, or would apply the +/- once you'd installed multiple mods.

Wait, you suggest that there will be temporary weapon upgrades (besides ammo) in SP? I doubt that this is correct. Weapon mods in MP were still permanent once unlocked (e.g. shotgun smart choke). There might be other temporary use items you can activate like in MP, such as bonus pistol damage or power duration boost, but I'm expecting weapon mods to work in a manner similar to ME3 SP. That system was solid enough.

That's the thing. There is a SP-to-MP and back crossover. So I'm not sure if the upgrades made in SP are available in MP. I suspect that only MP purchased equipment is limited to one mission in MP only and won't be carried back to SP. However, my understanding is that loot from a MP Horde type mission can be taken back to SP. I wish Bio would explain this mechanic better. For example: 1- going from SP-MP can we buy equipment packs before combat? 2- going from SP-MP can we use existing MP equipment packs? 3- going from SP-MP are we limited to our SP gear? 4- if real world money is used to purchase a lvl 10 Widow, can we bring it back to SP? Maybe it's a good tweet question to ask. I bet they have not ironed this out yet.

The carry-over seems to be in some alternative, XP-like currency. That's the impression I got, at least. I'd also not be surprised if we could earn "credits", or whatever in-game currency Andromeda shop owners accept. Having MP-specific gear and goods transfer to SP, or vice-versa, could lead to an unbalanced and disjointed experience. I think each mode will feature its own things, as in ME3MP, and similar to how we still have MP character types and kits, as opposed to everyone running around with MP Pathfinder-style builds.

In any case if they can configure it back to ME2 standards, i'd be happy. I was also a fan of the weak but balanced phaeston....

If you recall, Bio wants or encourages SP-MP crossovers. This is done to get better gear or in-game currency or both. It's not inconceivable that the Nexus will be completed sooner, if more or better resources are obtained via that Horde mode MP gameplay. Otherwise, what's the point of this crossover? One can obtain XP points and currency via quest completions.

The 5th weapon slot was only in ME2 and ME3 MP (kinda, they didn't drop at your feet when you switched weapon like in SP). ME1 only had 4 weapon slots and in ME3 SP, heavy weapons were picked up in the field and thrown away once their ammo were depleted or you switched weapon.

I disagreed with the idea in your original post that we might see MP's temporary combat boosts in SP, in place of permanent mods. That seems highly unlikely. Maybe those of us who took it that way misunderstood that post?

Does anyone else hope weapon levels are not used in MEA? With a game that seems likely to be pretty long, and to feature significant scaling, I assume this must return in some form. I preferred ME2's "research" to ME3's more gamist and weapon-specific levels.

I preferred ME2's "research" to ME3's more gamist and weapon-specific levels. I think that's depends on how deep the customization is. If it's deep customization then they could do without the levels, but if it's weak customization then they should probably keep the levels to show progression.

With how long the game is and how limited it could be in abilities I suspect one way they will ger around both problems is to have a lot of upgrades to their abilities and the weapons.

I also I'm very excited to see what new weapons are in the game. They have a great arsenal to pick from regarding the weapons we see return, but have a awesome opportunity to show us some really killer weapons from a new galaxy...all that can hopefully be customized.
