Ah, I really am not a fan of the whole topic of what's nice and what's not nice to people. They sell what people buy. I apologize if I seem to be rude or not nice to people or anything like that. That was not my intention. I believe people should pay whatever their wallets allow them and they feel comfortable with when it comes to entertainment. They don't have to come here and rationalize their spending whatsoever. I hope they don't feel offended that I criticized their choices, often doing so quite bluntly. I don't like some business practices in the gaming industry, but that is me and my views. Everyone is welcome to disagree, and I am fine whichever way. At the end of the day the party I truly have an issue here and at some point I expect some sort of rationalizing in regards to the value being asked is Bioware. Oh, no, not you, it's just I have seen so many arguments about P2W models, so I just would not want the thread veer in that direction. So far, I am in agreement with you that the 50$ surcharge (in Canadian market) is not warranted based on the amount of the information given about the packs that will be offered. Neither we know what comes in the Starter Pack, which might be actually a nice-to-have for the $10 over the basic game, particularly if it has an XP boost or something like that.

Buying it with no idea of what the game has to offer. I plan on buying my PS4 and new PC in the same transaction.
If the game is a bust, I guess that will be the end of my gaming career. Gold plated problems

I feel like we should be showing some appreciation for years of enjoyment we got out of the ME3MP, Problem is that companies, just like gamers (we've all seen the endless hype-shitstorm-hype cylces in the past), have a very short memory and us spending extra on the deluxe edition won't be seen as an appreciation of past games but simply as confirmation that microtransactions and selling in-game stuff even before the game is out actually works. And as a result we will get even more of that in the future. Which also ties into the "don't tell people what to do with their money"-argument. Of course spending money is a personal decision and judging someone for doing so on their favorite game is bad. That being said, though, we're still talking about big companies here and reinforcing bad business practices is detrimental to the entire playerbase. So while everyone is free to spend money on whatever they want, it is also the right of everyone else to critize the resulting reinforcement of bad business practices. And in case of MEA, the more packs are sold beforehand as well as once the game is out, the more future games might be geared towards selling those packs, including weapon and character balancing that heavily favors those who spend money. I know, bit of a slippery slope here but it's still a valid concern for a lot of people. edit: Also, to avoid giving off a false impression, I did show my appreciation of the DLC model for ME3MP by actually buying packs whenever a new DLC came out.

Here's a thought, let everyone spend their own money as they see fit and not be judgmental twats about it. As for myself, I'll have some extra money when it's time for me to order the game and frankly, it's nobodies business what edition I decide to get. Here's a thought, don't have such a fragile ego and perceive attacks of people judging you when all we are doing is discussing the merits or lack thereof of the MEAMP Super Deluxe Edition. If we do attack you, you'll know it.

I'll know it too On topic: I find the pros and cons of edition purchase are so personal. I understand there is some point to arguing what game companies 'should/should not' do, and if folk can't exercise civilly expressed judgemental opinions, half of BSN would disappear ! but yes, people's money, people's choice.

I have given this some more tought and you convinced me to shift from "slightly leaning towards super deluxe" to "not buying into some preorder packs until we know exactly what we're buying" as it might be another cat in the bag. No thanks EA, just give me the damn game. You are actually right, we should not be doing this. We should not let game publishers squeeze us like this, if we buy into this preorder super deluxe crap it just shows how naive we are and we will get even more of this crap in the future.

Yeah, I'm buying the supa-delux. I got a job. Three versions of the game exist. Pick the one you want.
Seems weird that some folks are angry just because multiple version are available.
If you want to get mad at something, get mad at timed exclusives or something like that.

This is a pretty complex topic, especially since I do understand that people are entitled to pay whatever they feel like for a game. Even though paying for something you have no clue about is questionable, ill advisable, supports bad business practices, it is nevertheless your money.
The main issue is that as of today, 20th of December 2016, people who are buying the Super Deluxe Edition don't have a clear motive except for their willingness to pay more for the game and people who are apprehensive about this Edition (like me) don't have an argument to be this way other than their skepticism.
I guess I will just wait for more info to come out. Then we can rant about it legitimately.

We couldn't care less whether you waste your money on hookers, penis enlargement or a season ticket for Borussia Dortmund, the latter being the ultimate waste of money - but that is just my opinion.

I don't always buy games, but when I do, I buy super deluxe. If they had a super deluxe extreme edition, I might go for that--just throw in an N7 T-shirt.

I seem to remember that they said that as well as the regular RNG pack there would also be packs that you could buy where you knew what you were going to get but would be only available for a limited time.
If these SDMP are those, then maybe they will be worth it............. or not, we don't know yet or how much $$$$$$ they're going to cost.

What really worries me about those packs is not that they might reflect the commendation packs from ME3MP, it's that they reflect the premium packs from DA:I.
ME3MP's commendation packs were at least semi-random. While the actual cards were completely random, the packs had a clear structure and you would know what kind of cards you'd get. This is the perfect model for paying extra to save some time.
DA:I premium packs were totally random. You could spend 1000$ and get nothing but pure junk... or 2$ and get the Holy Grail. This is the perfect model to give all your money for no return.
Since DA:I is Bioware/EA's most recent game of the kind, I'd be much more worried they use THAT model over ME3MP.
My advice would be that you're safe to buy whatever you want if they go for a model based on ME3MP. If they go for a model based on DA:I, don't spend anything, all you'll get are things worst than the actual starting equipment... in 5000 copies...

It would be a little funny if the bonus packs contained something ultra special like they did with the extremely mediocre collector assault rifle special packs when ME3 first came out.

Let me help you by offering two questions which should help you make the most rational decision provided it's not a money issue: 1)Are you a casual gamer (here I mean not an hardcore ME fan)? Yes, then buy the standard edition. No, then go to question 2
2)Are you heavily interested in Multiplayer? Yes, then buy the Super Deluxe Edition No, then buy the Deluxe Edition
No value or money question made as the value is in the eye of the beholder.
However if money is the issue then it's pretty easy. Buy the cheapest version you can as gaming is an hobby and not something that should take away resources from your basic needs.
