I'm expecting to have a good time, but I have no real expectations as far as the quality goes. So I won't get disappointed.

Never heard of Ace Combat 5. Is that an old game? PS2 combat flight sim. It was kind of the ME 2 of its generation, for personal preference since you did not have any RPG mechanics. But it had an amazing story, amazing music, and fairly good character and development. Wonder how I missed that as I used to really enjoy flight sim games. I guess if I were to really go back to the beginning, I might put Wing Commander 3 up there. It was the game that got me into gaming. But I don't know if it deserves to be up there or if that's just nostalgia. I really love both KOTOR games and still regularly play them, but I don't think I could call them Tier 1 games. Maybe I just have unrealistic standards/expectations.

Hopes the game is refreshing and new and amazing, while evoking old nostalgia fueled feelings of the original trilogy, basically making you damn happy you're playing a new Mass Effect game again.

it would be good to reset this poll in 4 or 5 weeks from now , after BW shows more content ( or so they're supposed to ) because right now it's hardly an educated guess to predict anything about the game , whether it's combat, controls, dialogues and cutscenes etc. I wonder how this photogrammytry will really look in game. Anyway for now let's say tier 3 as much as i'd like to choose tier 2.

Expectations vs. reality polls. That can serve as evidence of sorts that peoples apprehensions and hopes were accurate or not.

I'm a little more hopeful now that I saw the 2nd ME:A Initiative video - don't know how I missed it! It's like the Nexus is a little Citadel. I didn't expect any kind of a 'home base' type thing like the Citadel used to be, so I'm very happy there is! That 2nd Initiative video - Arks/Nexus - got me more hyped! But, what threat can match the Reapers? The stakes can't get that high I guess.

When a threat turns into a 'force of nature' level of badness it becomes awfully hard to relate to it. The Reapers, the weather from Witcher 3, and the Blight from Dragon Age all tend to count. Granted the Reapers also had very relatable baddies in Saren and the Illusive Man but the Kett threat could be a lot more personal and hence more epic.

Tier 1 - DA:O and the Mass Effect trilogy remain among my favourite games of all time. And although Bioware are not perfect I know they won't let me down with this game, it's gonna be amazing!

Tier-3 for me....i think the game will have strong production values and polish, but at this moment the main characters aren't really doing anything for me. But that is most likely because i'am so used to Shepard and his personality....that could change once i get a feel for the cast in the game...visuals look impressive and i feel the overall experience and journey will be an enjoyable one.

Tier 3 I think the game will be pretty good with the inprovements they have made to the nomad and combat also having learned from DAI having to many fetch quests. The sidequests should be better aswell the flaws that could happen are the new things they add to the series.

I'm sure there's some remnant of Reaper connection to this galaxy, whatever that might be. Seems like mostly the races are completely organic - therefore these technological beings must be some type of invader? Also, what do you mean by "weather from Witcher 3"? I played it - the weather was great but not really an enemy.

I have thought that the Reapers might also go after the Andromeda Galaxy every now and then but I hope not, the Reapers are part of the reason why the MWG is screwed as a setting for a great long time. And that is more or less my sarcastic reaction to the whole White Frost deal in the Witcher 3. The big bad was not Eredin and the Wild Hunt, the big bad was not the Crones of Crookback bog, the big bad was....the weather. An ice age. As unrelatable of a 'bad guy' as you can imagine and its the one reason all the bad guys in the game suffered from being bland, mono dimenional threats, considering when the threat of the White Frost was removed in the DLC Olgierd von Everec, Detlaff, and Gaunter O'Dimm were fantastic bad guys.

My expectations:
Decent story Involved sidequests Make certain things optional: IE settlements or resource collecting. If I get around to playing FO4 again, I'm def. not going to rebuild any settlements. They are too damned needy.

If I get around to playing FO4 again, I'm def. not going to rebuild any settlements. They are too damned needy. I didn't mess with the settlements like at all during my first PT with FO 4. But, if I start a second one I just might dip my tow into it a little bit. If I can actually stand doing so. Also, great quote in your signature. I voted for Tier 2. Would love if it turns out to be Tier 1. Me too. Though it is frustrating I want a firmer opinion about the game, but as I said the whole 'profile' thing and the swapping out of abilities could end up really effecting the gameplay, and yet we still have no answers. SO whether the game ends up being more Tier 1, 2, or 3 for me is still a bit up in the air because they have not released any major videos explaining their systems and usually leaving us with 'soon'. Which, I do not actually mind, per se, but I wanna post in this thread dang it.

it looks good and has potential but ever since the ME3 ending theres that fear and uncertainty that BW may not have learned their "mistakes" take DAI for instance with having a lack of an offline save import (note: SimCity 2013 didnt teach EA anything in terms that a single player game such as SimCity or Dragon Age are meant to be played offline) plus they even didnt stop to think far ahead of what happens to the online functionality the day EA craps out and takes a nose dive under. EA may be rich but they cant stay rich forever someday they will fall and collapse so have they asked themselves what will happen to the online-only games or even worse their servers?

So now with new info coming out I thought it might be appropropriate to maybe bump this thread, and also update my own expectations.
With the recent dilluge of news and videosI am quite confidant the game is going to be a strong Tier 2 maybe even a Tier 1, I am sticking to my original vote of Tier 2-3 because some of these systems still need my own personal hand on experienced, but the more they show of the game. The more I like. Now, I will not spoil the game...for the few very small story spoilers I have read (Grumble grumble), but give m general perceptions.
Combat
Combat looks really cool. Now it sounds and looks a bit like Modern Day Halo which is not a concern or a positive but just an observation. But the favorites system, the ability to change your abilities on the fly giving you twelve different options is really, really, really, really nice. That is more powers then you had in the ME trilogy or pretty much any BioWare game...for consoles. And it sounds like it could be really dynamic.
The squad stuff, though there is some question if they will behave like this in the game, the stuff and tem detonating your combos looks really, really tight and good. Similar to how you did things in ME 3.
Crafting
This video is nice, no spoilers, but it does go over the crafting system briefly. I hope we actually get to see it in action to have an indication of how they execute it in the actual game because the description sounded wonky. But also really nice. This crafting system sounds like they have taken the best parts of the Inquisition crafting system but with less of a grind for resources and more options in exactly what you want to do with your crafted gear. Honestly, again I want to see how this looks, but it does look like a big crossoever between the crafting system in DA 2 and DA I, which I did not like the former, loved the latter, but I think for Andromeda it might really work because it will mean you have to spend less time hunting for resources.
Story
Not going into specifics but one of the videos I have seen, the Eurogamer one, there was quite an interesting story spoiler which has a lot of cool implications for the story. Needless to say, and granted we will have to see how they execute it, but the story for Andromeda sounds really really deep and layered with a lot going on for both side content, story content, and then how the two will even mesh and complement one another. I am actually really excited with how the story is shaping up and my only concern is the connectivity of this and me assuming some things they have been talking about will be main story content when its really side content...and vice versa.
Characters
So another slight spoiler got me excited. But it does seem like BioWare will continue to do an actual proper job of writing characters and diversity and making fully fleshed out people rather then caricatures that they started in DA I. The character writing, just the brief couple of sentences I have heard, sounds really cool...whether I like these people or not will be another matter entirely, but as long as they are well written, I will give them props.
Its kind of curious though they do not...at least that we have heard...a companion approval system for your characters. But I wonder, based on what I have read, if this means they are leaving it up to the player to fully determine if a character is your friend, or your rival, or not based on how they behave around your choices you make in the game. Which is something I was thinking they could do in Inquisition, but not sure how they would implement it. And let me be clear, this is pure speculation on my part and I do not know and since this is an idea that is very personal, I am sure the millage may vary.
But, on the positive side per the IGN video it seems like your characters actually have banter with one another and it feels like a buddy cop film in some ways, given what IGN had to say about it, that it is about your squad...if correct, so much for your squad having nothing to do or say and just sort of being 'there'.
In short, I'm hyped.

Tier 2-3, from what I've seen so far the game has some serious issues imo. Specifically the enemy AI appears to completely incompetent and aside from shooting back doesn't seem to react that much to what the player is doing, the facial animations, yes they said they would fix this but I'm fairly skeptical considering the game comes out in less than a month.

I fully expect this game to be amazing even though it will probably have bugs here and there. Bioware have never disappointed me with anything they've ever released.

Was hoping it would change after the preview event but it remains at Tier-4. They merely confirmed some of my suspicions and reaffirmed that the things they mentioned earlier I thought would be so-so are still just so-so.
I hope it changes when I play it but I'm not holding my breath for this anymore.
Actually I've held off on getting any of the hype-worthy games that's come out lately. I figure it's a safety net if I end up disliking this game and I just need to put my thoughts away from it with something that's actually worthwhile. I really like BioWare and what they've done but ever since ME3 it's as if they've kept disappointing me at every turn, and not just because I suddenly have too high expectations. There are areas where I never expected them to deliver where they did with ME1,2 DA:O,DA2, even DA:I, but there's just too much I dislike to really put them on the pedestal I used to back in the ME2 days.
And for good measure:
Tier 1: ME1 and ME2 and DA:O and KOTOR Tier 2: DA2 Tier 4: ME3 and DA:I
To me there always was some kind of unfortunate shift in quality somewhere around 2011 for BioWare. It's as if they quickly went from doing something really good to just "hm. eh." but I thought DA2 retained a lot of good stuff.
