I feel like they'll be more than two male romances for Scott. Don't know why, since it hasn't happened before, it's just a feeling I have. And that's not including the "light" romances. Well, they say this game will have more romances than any previous Bioware game so it could certainly be possible. I won't get my hopes up. It sounds too good to be true. DAI also had more romance options than ever before and only straight female characters benefits from it.

Depending on the state of the graphics, I actually would be curious to see feathers rendered on the alien species. Iirc they tried to do it in SWTOR with interesting results. As long as they can avoid completely cartoonish look, I think it can be quite cool, particularly if plumage is bright. Heh, could result in some pretty crazy hairstyles.

I'm not surprised by the love for Garrus...I think owever that what is truly important for a male LI is the personality, and the variety. I'll just leave here what I DON'T want in a male LI: Cheating Dead loved husband/wife (I'm not against a male LI having a ex, but can be someone that doesn't make the protagonist feel like the spare wheel?) No villain (well, at least not a "real" one... I'm all for someome a la Zevran-the enemy who became an ally, but I don't think BioWare can put out another Solas)

I'd like an actual alien looking alien (on the order of strangeness of Garrus). I'll be disappointed if I'm stuck with humans and asari. Though I do not envy poor said malien having to compete with Garrus. Basically Garrus has ruined me for every other Bioware LI since. I would also like somebody who doesn't implode in a puddle of melodrama at the end, which has been a recurring theme of many of the recent male LIs. Snark is nice too. Basically, it's been a really dry run other than Garrus and Alistair (romanced with a human noble) for non drama/non overly serious LIs pretty much since the history of Bioware. It's either feast of famine with them apparently.
Anomen: existential angst Aarin: dead girlfriend, humdrum Valen: dead girlfriend, existential angst, angry McSeriouspants Carth: dead wife Sky: dead wife/daughter Zevran: existential angst, dead girlfriend, can betray you Kaidan: humdrum McSeriouspants, dead girlfriend Fenris: existential angst, angry McSeriouspants 2.0 Anders: existential angst, literally possessed by a demon Jacob: cheats Thane: existential angst, dead wife, dying, sad McSeriouspants Solas: secret crazy Loki god Blackwall: secret murderer Iron Bull: existential angst, can betray you Cullen: humdrum MacSeriouspants 2.0
Seriously, it is too much to ask for some dude who makes you laugh and has enough issues that he's interesting but not so many that he fell out of a soap opera? The type of character I'm looking for includes but is not limited to: Garrus, Alistair, Varric, Dorian, Vega, and some comparable female characters I can think of).

I'd add "not with terminal illness", but I know many liked that bittersweet angle of Thane's romance. Plus, I firmly believe that if some work was put in the romance ark in ME3 I would love Thane's romance even if drama isn't exactly my preferences.
And I'm fine with a flirty/experienced man, but not like Doc in SWTOR (the only romance I've done in that game when I tryed it. Man so many hours and that was all...I didn't had the strenght to start a new character at that point. Uninstalled.) it had some funny dialogues, but it was truly over the top.

Vanilla SWTOR romances for a female PC are all caricatures just like the Doc's. Quinn's too submissive, Torian and Iresso's too bland, Corso's - too boyish, and Andronicus' - too pointless. You really have way better options when playing as a male if you do play the game mainly for a romance. But it's well worth playing for all the cool stories and how they come together between the classes and stuff. Smuggler is the best non-heroically-epic RPG story out there. It does have the best short romance in the F!Smuggler, but it's one planet long. Overall though, nope, not great for romances. Thane, well, that's a good case for not saying: "Oh, please, no...." He exemplifies the concept that on paper looks like you would not touch it with a 10 foot pole. I mean, let's see... Comes from a very special nearly extinct race of exiles who found refuge on a hostile world... Is a child slave forced to become an assassin at age 6 or 7... Had an estranged wife who was tortured and killed because of his line of work... Is cursed... well fatally ill... Wants to do die a worthy death... And burdened with a teen son who is angry at the absent dad... Is hauntingly handsome... Follows mystical ideas and has an elf-like memory, and really is the Space High Elf... And after all this mess of a maudlin background that should sent even the staunchest angst-monger running for the hills, he ends up as a stark character with a curious love-story devoid of the juvenile mediocrity of the OMG, first date, smooch, and "can I prove my love for you tonight" Bio-sequence.

Actually, I wanted to play without the romance at all in the end...I quite liked the Jedi Knight story (and I believe I would have liked the smugglers, it was the one that I was more curious about... but you know, lightsabers!!! I alwasy dreamed about having my non human Jedi Knight character, so...) but Doc's romance really soured my mood. I didn't want it anymore. In a normale game, I would have started from a previous save, and played without flirting, but MMO, so nada... plus I was quite bored with the game. Too much time doing pointless stuff and basically only going from point A to point B to point C to point D. Too much boring traveling, with boring gameplay. I would love and buy in a second a game with SWTOR storyes and no MMO gameplay, but really, I was happy I played it free, because I would have hated myself if I had spent money on it (plus, is not even translated in italian, so I had to put up with the double effort of playng with a language that is not mine. Since I'm not that good with English, it was a little a challange). Thane is an heavy concentrated of angst. Like, I think he would have made Marvin the Paranoid Android proud.

Yeah, if you don't play Sub, SWTOR will be a rough going. If you do, you level up really fast, and basically can just do the main and the planetary story + one of the MP options or the Heroics (that you now do not need to group up with). I've played my first two class stories (Consular and Smuggler) basically solo (but with a sub) on an old leveling system, and it took almost 6 months. But then I started doing all the group content, learned to make MMO-friends, met a kind soul who literally taught me to play and then Bio relaxed the rules to the point when you can run through a class story in like a week... it was actually fun for a couple of years before it got too draining. It's a good game, and even more so when you do have a chance to play through all the 8 class stories (and leave everything after Corellia for just one character that you designate as your main). Alos yes, interrupting the romance is not possible, but the companions stop talking to you after they exhaust their dialogues, and you can strike new romances once you migrate from the class story into the new saga. But yeah, one character is more than enough for that, heh. My fav in SWTOR's LIs is Numen Brock :) Zenith is my fav male but he does not romance the PC. Oh, well. They are both Twileks, so no hair, but braid-like lekkus. EDIT: And, heh, I forgot Aric. It's been some time... I don't think I have ever finished his romance though, maybe have not even started it, since I've leveled my male Vanguard through the story, and my female Commando leveled via PvP. I think. hmm... yeah, it's been a long, long time.

Personally, I like Garrus, but I don't want to see the same kind of characters/romances ever and ever again. That's why I actually hope we don't see a Garrus 2.0. (But that's just my opinion...I know, I wasn't addressed : D )

Most women I know prefer little to no facial hair. Most gay men are the opposite. The latter are more vocal on the forums while the former are more numerous

It doesn't really matter with ME though since there is aliens. Who don't have facial hair, but are still better than any human LI could be.

During my tender formative years, I was used to the beardless/bearded cycle with the males surrounding me. I was into geology/rock-hunting since my pre-teens and did my degrees as a geologist as well with a lot of field work involved, so I considered it perfectly normal for the guys to let the beard grow over the field season, and clean up for the winter. Realistically, I would expect men to wear beards in the setting, just because it is convenient for the long expeditions. I would not mind, but would not expect facial hair to be an aspect in the romantic story line.

The problem is that you are trying equate LBGTQ relationships with incest and bestiality, while trying to deflect criticism because "it's only sarcasm" . No one is buying it. I'm not, I just don't see the difference, if we are going to be tolerant we have to be tolerant with everything, getting picky is being an hypocrite. well to be fair incest ends with a kid who might have problems because of it. And is usually not a healthy relationship. also doing aliens and having gay and lesbian relationships is more acceptable to most people then incest and that is because it is twisted. The ryder's can't even use the "we are only related by marriage" thing. And why are you pushing this

Read the poll options, and then decide just how seriously you want to take this guy.

The truth is I'm not sure I really know what I want in a romance and what is exactly that I like from favourite LIs, but since there's no new briefing and no new info in general to think about I've been thinking a little about this and I think that maybe in the end what I want the most in a LI is intelligence and confidence (aside from a nice voice and good VA) And when I say intelligence I don't mean necessarily a nerd, nor a character that is somehow presented as intelligent because s/he has achieved this or that or because s/he is an expert on this or that. I know this is kind od vague and highly subjective, but I'm thinking more in the kind of intelligence that just shows in dialogues, through jokes and witticisms, but also the metaphors they use or the reflections they do. ... So, it's mainly about the writting, in the end... I particularly love the kind of witty-smart characters that Gaider usually writtes. Now, if on top of that they are nerds too, scientists or scholars, that kind of thing, then is just perfect. I'm not very much into the nerd shy, akward type, though, in fact, I'm not into shy and/or awkward at all. If the flirt options gives you the initiative and you're suppossed to catch the guy by surprise and he reacts clumsily or whatever, that's cute, the firs time, anything more than that kind of kills the romance for me. I'm not saying I want nothing but jumping right to sex, though is one thing I like in Zevran's romance, and I'm ok with obstacles (they usually make sense from a narrative point of view), but I like characters that exude confidence. I rather have an LI that's arrogant or cocky than the opposite.

I'm not very much into the nerd shy, akward type, though, in fact, I'm not into shy and/or awkward at all. If the flirt options gives you the initiative and you're suppossed to catch the guy buy surprise and he reacts clumsily or whatever, for me that's cute, the firs time, anything more than that kind of kills the romance for me. I'm not saying I want nothing but jumping right to sex, though is one thing I like in Zevran's romance, and I'm ok with obstacles (they usually makes sense from a narrative point of view), but I like characters that exude confidence. I rather have an LI that's arrogant or cocky than the opposite. I agree. I think the shy male LI is becaming a little repetitive for me (I don't mind the kind of embarassed/confused as in Garrus's romance, where he is mostly confused about human/turian differences, and with the fact that these two races aren't still in the best of terms, it makes sense). I loved Alistair, but I guess I'm starting to be tired of the thrope.

If you compare Miranda with Jacob, Morrigan with Alistair, Ashley with Kaidan, Silk Fox with Sky and Bastila with Carth, the women always seem to be less introvert, more powerfull, expressive, and salient.
