How many new races are we going to get after all? We've only seen two, I think? This is what might disappoint me if indeed correct.

Intelligent fauna, or just a re-textured "space bear"? A varied array of mindless critters to fight, while nice for combat purposes, isn't exactly what I am hoping for with the 'alien' element. Thanks for the response though. I have a feeling I should just assume Andromeda will have zero 'alien' aliens in it, that way I won't be getting my hopes up. I doubt any of them are sapient, tough they are intelligent to various points as most animals above insect level tend to be. About what you can expect from a rhino, a wolf or a velociraptor. ive only seen the original space bear on one planet, the kett use a mutated form of it as a biological weapon thats on multiple planets. They also have bone plated attack dogs, that can apparently cloak. Yeah, the thing with ME series is most species have to be humanoid or bipedal cause of the skeletal structure of animation, and for the combat. It would look really weard if you were fighting a hanar trying to shoot you with an avenger, im not saying it cant be done, just the devs seem to want to take the easy route with things. If you want to see imaginitive alien, id suggest checking out the game that inspired ME series, Star Control 2, it has some of the best aliens ive seen in games. 'Alien' doesn't just mean non-humanoid; though that is a nice bonus I'll admit; it's mostly about the writing being able to create something decidedly foreign to typical human norms. The (ME 2) Geth, for instance, were suitably different despite being humanoid robots. That's what I am primarily looking for when I mention the 'alien' element.

Kett might be the most alien of the new species now, if some theories pan out that are floating around here. The angara are about as alien as turians, look weird but have to be somewhat relatable because of story and romance. Seem to be a cross between draenei from wow and na'vi from Avatar, which is why i call them sometimes draenavi. The remnant might take the cake tough, if we even see them in the game at all. No one knows really what they were all about, tough some theories again floating about. All that are left apparently are their machines, which attack any creature intruding on their ruins or sometimes your outposts to cleanse the former remnant planets of intruders. I dont think well be seeing any more new aliens in this game alas. Its just one cluster. Tough who knows...

Big publishers like EA are very risk aversive, they dont take risks (even more so when a game has been in development for 5 years) and with every new game they want to appeal too as wide and broad an audience as possible... So with that in mind Mass Effect: Andromeda will not be very alien at all. They will have played things as safe and as bland as possible, by the numbers etc. Nothing to weird or anything that would make your average, non sci-fi gamer uncomfortable. There will be your easily recognisable, accepted and mainstream science fiction tropes yes but nothing more challenging or alien than that. I think those expecting something truly alien are going to be very disappointed. Its gonna be the same old same old we've all seen a million times at this point.
Its for the same kinda reasons why they wont make a true, real Star Trek film anymore. The powers that be they just won't do it.

Meh I've always preferred fighting things that are humanoid, maybe I'm just fucked up
