Size and content are two different things. Exploring new words are nice but taking in the scenery only takes you so far.

As long as there is actual content in that 30-60min drive, I'm willing to give it a go.
Seems a little excessive at the high end though? An hour of 'oh, a tree', 'oh, a rock', 'oh, another tree' is not something I want. I also don't want to have to fight 100+ enemies either. Balance is the key with wide open spaces.

Somehow I highly doubt the areas will be that big. Especially if driving. Maybe on foot?

They need to use actual driving time, you drive 3 days real time to get from one point of interest to the next.

Er, where's this coming from?
Providing a random google search result for "mass effect andromeda length" isn't proving anything.

I remember them saying things like this for DA I too. That it would only take you around a similar time if you could travel in a straight line across the map it would only take X to cross. What is slightly worrisome we are talking about a Eezo powered vehicle that can do over 100 MPH (KMH?) so we are talking about theoretically much larger distances for that reason alone.
As to the quality of the content, I am confident it will be better then DA Is....but then even if it weren't as good as DAIs that really would not be much of an issue.

Well, there's your 100 hours of gameplay right there, since I'm pretty sure they said way back when there would be more than 100 planets to explore.

The only thing I really don't want is to go to one end of the map to receive a quest that finishes on the other end. Even worse if it is the one I just passed through.

I don't think that's going to be too much of an issue, given evidence of previous games....though actually now that I am thinking of it there were a FEW of those in the Hinterlands.

Hopefully if we are gunna be chugging it across planets in the Nomad for up to 60 minutes, there is plenty of good and meaningful squad banter and dialogue.
One of the things Final Fantasy 15 was missing big time for me, the superficiality of the 'journey', rather than any actual worthwhile or meaningful look into the friendships and journeys amongst the four. I was so disappointed by that aspect of the game.

I've found one article from back a ways that says the game is to have a "myriad of planets" (but no actual number is given). www.movienewsguide.com/mass-effect-andromeda-details-new-setting-alien-races-romance/248250

Size and content are two different things. Exploring new words are nice but taking in the scenery only takes you so far. This. If the worlds to explore are going to be this big then they must be 'alive' in the sense of good story throughout or highly detailed in interesting ways, alas not fetch quests and collect 50 of this, 25 of that side-activities. Here's to hope. Of course this is speculation really.

How can they put 30 to 60 minutes of exploration and meaningful quests in all that? Something topping 20, 25, seems more credible to me.

I'm just imagining the Nomad banter:
"Liam! Keep your elbows on your side of the seat!" "Gah, who farted?" "Stop! I need to pee!" "Are we there yet?" "Don't make me turn this car around!"

I think there must have been some misinterpretation on the part of the interviewer. Notice that in neither of the articles posted that the part about "50-60 minutes" is in quotations. They just say that Mike Gamble "revealed" or "stated". I'm sure both articles get their info from the same source anyway. They had said recently that some planets were so large as to require the use of the Nomad, however others were so small that using the Nomad would be useless, so I can't imagine that every planet will take 50-60 minutes to traverse in the Nomad.

I agree... what I get from the article anyway is that Bioware is intending to try to find a good balance between size and content. That's encouraging, IMO... better than if they were coming off as just intending to make a big/long game out of it.
