Still, I like the disease and poison immunity on the cavalier, and they're great for leading the charge against the dragons in the game.

I think there are couple of rings (or just one) that renders one immune to both disease and poison and imho level drain is more of a nuisance then disease and poison. Concerning dragons there are only 2 really thought dragons in the game : Firkraag ofc and Draconis. But at the end it comes down to each his own.

I think we can at least all agree that there's little reason other than possibly RP to pick a regular Paladin for your Bhaalspawn's class over one of the Paladin kits. The drawbacks of them are all neglible compared to what the kits give you in return.

I just find the cavalier's resistances/immunities to be more all-around useful. Spellcasters like to throw around fear effects, fire and acid attacks, and poisons aren't strictly demonic. @ Babar Guy Indeed

I hated Minsc and almost never used him in my party. He was always vulnerable to the simplest mind spells and was usually the first to end up dead. I don't how many times in BG1 I just left his corpse for the crows. More than once I caught myself exclaiming to my monitor "go ahead and ram your gut into their swords, dumbass. See if I care!"

I know it's a part of the whole D&D setting, but characters having visible alignments was not my favourite thing.
"Oh, here's a new character, Viconia, wonder what she's like. Oh right, Neutral Evil, well I guess that removes any ambiguity."

Honestly, not all of them act rigidly according to their alignments. I've had Viconia in an otherwise good-leaning party and other than some snark between her and other party members, and while it's been over a year now since I last had a playthrough with her in the party, I don't remember her really acting excessively evil at all. Definitely not outright good, either. Pragmatic and a bit cold, perhaps. I'm guessing the "evil" part of the alignment comes more into play if you're playing with an evil Bhaalspawn and making a bunch of evil choices. But for a Drow she's practically the biggest softy around. plus you can get her to officially change her alignment to true neutral if you end up romancing her and play your cards right. A bit of a shame that it's exclusive to the romance tho

Another confession. I dl'd the incestuous Weidu mod Imoen romance. I felt so dirty and I loved it more with each playthrough.

I have no idea how the mods in question address it, but I'd say there's a case to be made for it possibly not being all that incestuous considering how the shared parent is a god and not a person.

True enough. With Imoen though, it's more the relationship you had growing up rather than realizing later on you're "siblings." I never played that one myself, but the Sarevok one was fun.

I can undersstand that notion, but Baal had to take a physical form and do the deed and pass on his godliness through sperm and DNA. So yeah still zesty and incesty, in my book!

I hate Ettercaps - especially that random encounter with five of them, that mostly happens, when you had a tough fight behind you or your group is tired

There's several people from both BG games I've never had in my party, mostly because I don't like adding new people mid or late game but also because I've never done an evil PT.
I add the 2 guys you meet right out of Candlekeep for numbers but kick them out once I get Jaheira and Khalid. Then add Minsc, Xan and Kivan and I'm pretty much set for BG1. I usually have to do some swapping since that's one too many with Imoen included, but anyone recruitable after that loses out due to meeting them too late. I barely know who Coran is since I've never had him in my party. If there's anyone else available, I can't recall/don't know who they are. In BG2, I start out with Imoen (till she's mage-napped), Jaheira, Minsc, and Yoshimo. Add Anomen until he gets too boring and I swap him out for Kheldorn(?), then add Valygar. If I need a mage I'll bring Aerie. Never used Mazzy, the evil-aligned dwarf, or whatshername, the bard whose estate we have to get back for her? Natalie? When I started using the Xan and Kivan mods I was in a real bind because I had to bring those two with me at all times. I ended up dumping Jaheira except for her Harper stuff and, while I like Haer'Dalis well enough, I usually do his quest then leave him be.

My typical run is Imoen, Jaheira, Minsc, Yoshimo until Imoen gets spirited off to Spellhold. I then recruit Aerie (who gets seriously powerful if you level her enough), I then ditch Jaheira for Nalia. I then sometimes ditch Yoshimo for either Anomen if I need cleric power (do his personal quest the "good" way and he gets a major Wisdom buff) or Jan (if I need more thieving skills) Along the way I swap people out for Mazzy, Cernd, and Valgyar long enough to do their personal quests. I actually don't recruit Keldorn much because I like to play paladins myself, and Carsomyr is mine, MINE I TELL YOU! IT'S THE PRECCCCCCIOUS!!! *ahem*

Never used Jan either. I do the druid quest for Cernd and I think one time I ended up with him in my party afterwards and boy did I not like him much for ditching his family to go be "one with nature." Bleh.

I then ditch Jaheira for Nalia. I find it incredibly hard to justify it to myself if I'm playing as a good or even neutral character that I'd leave Minsc or Jaheira behind, and especially difficult to somehow not feel like a completely worthless asshole if I don't take Imoen along once I reach Spellhold. I wish BG2 had a similar system to newer games like DAO where it's part of the story that all your party members are traveling with you once recruited, regardless of who is actually in your active party. That way I'd have the freedom of experimenting more with party layouts in a playthrough without feeling like a piece of shit.

Well, I like her personal quest, but I find her personality rather acidic.
Plus I'm rather biased in favor of clerics over druids.
