Here's some negative sentiment for you Bioware: I bet your squadmates suck. I bet they're all gross looking and lame. Especially Liam. And Cora. I bet this Jaal character is the lamest of all. And ugly. That's why your hiding them, isn't it? Well? WELL!!?? *breathes* I'm just concerned their stories have gotten even more meandering than in DA:I and that they start to feel "kiddy". I already get this vibe from the little I've seen that they're more lighthearted (not just PeeBee) and the last thing I want is a whole squad of Kasumi-DLC members. She was a mistake - an anime-fanfic character in Mass Effect and a genre-break. I hope they're worthwhile and interesting and in service of good world-building and not all there to make waifu-hype and fanart. Kasumi was an anime fanfic cause she was Japanese?

I will remain skeptical of anything Bioware puts out until I see actual GP footage from your every day player. Which means after it releases. I hope they didn't take the DAI route with choices and consequences where your choices had no consequences and it was the same ending no matter what you do throughout the game even though it was hyped all along that they would matter.

It was shut down for a reason, folks. That reason was for the most part Bioware's inability to handle criticism, and their unwillingness to invest in community management or mending fences. There's a difference between criticism and vitriol. Calling what typically occurred there, "criticism," is wildly misleading. That being said, I will agree with that it was poorly moderated.

I'm glad we're getting something new to look at, but the hatebots will always find something to be "concerned" about, so trying to ease their fears is a lost cause.

Of course there's always a worse place on the internet, but it's a reputation that the BSN had all the same. Perhaps it would've served my point better to say that it was regarded as one of the most toxic gaming communities on the internet. Hell, I remember reading a whole discussion on one the Bioware related subreddits that was full of people talking about joining the BSN and eventually leaving due to the nature of the forums. It was shut down for a reason, folks. It if was shut down for toxicity, it'd have been shut down long before it was, since the situation when BSN ended was by far not the worst I saw. And they wouldn't have shown a liking of this forum, as devs shown from August to now. I'm sure they like this forum just fine now that they're not paying for it. That being said, it was shut down for multiple reasons. Again, I misspoke or mistyped -- I chose my words poorly. The toxicity was one of them, albeit I doubt that any dev would just outright say. Few people with any pride would willingly and publicly admit that they stopped doing something because they were bullied. It also had to do with other platforms for discussions being more prevalent now, with Reddit handling discussion and Twitter facilitating dev interaction better.

The vitriol was the inevitable result of mishandling customer service. Not that I actually support that. I'm glad we're getting something new to look at, but the hatebots will always find something to be "concerned" about, so trying to ease their fears is a lost cause. Lucky that we have the biodrone fanboyz to counter them then ...because we're a 'broad church', long may the haters and fanboyz enjoy the debate.

There are plenty of worse places on the internet But BSN at the time of the ME3 endings was pretty bad. The last forum had a mini-blowout at the time of the DAI key-glitch, and there was 'Crestwood-gate' and 'Cassandra looks like a Man', sure BSN has a reputation... The way I'm reading Shibobi is as a reassurance that the lack of information does not mean it sucks, it's just marketing. Time will tell if that's right. What I'd like to see is one multiplayer match on an 'early-game' map, on the equivalent of Lolbronze. Recorded complete from Lobby screen to success screen, run by a half-competent dev player, with no edits. A twitch of that would be just fine. That will answer any questions I can reasonably have for now because I don't need the story and characters spoilt to death, honestly. I'm with you on that. Too much of Inquisition was shown before its release and that led to its share of issues. One of those would be the fact that the story, with a few exceptions, was largely spoiled by what they did show. Seeing Bioware be a bit more selective with their marketing material seems good to me, but I can't speak for everyone.

Looking forward to it. my personal negative sentiment is in regards to crafting, I doubt the trailer will alleviate it,since I have a hard time imagining a trailer taking after the latest twits, and focusing on the riveting realm of gathering, material purchase and schematic updates. But I wanna watch it to reinforce the positive sentiments.

To be honest I am not a fan of this "trickle" marketing. I have no idea what this game is going to be like at all. I haven't gotten the "this is like ME1 & 2 mashed together feel" that some devs have been shooting for based on their tweets. I won't go down my pro and con list because I'm certain we all have different ideas of what we would like to see. No matter what, the next trailer will make some happy and some dive deeper into their criticism. Both are entirely valid. Unfortunately, because of the way marketing (and likely some development issues along the way) has been handled there is literally no "I win with everyone" button for Bioware at this point.
That said, I will gladly take any new information or trailer at this point. I buy maybe 1-2 games a year because my gaming time is a premium at this point in my life (wife, 3 kids, work 8-5, teach group ex). ME:A is on my short list of potential buys. I'm hoping we get enough information in the next few weeks for it to stay there.

but since it was the only way to judge on BSN at the time I would have thought it was fairly accurate. That poll came from the BSN. No matter how you feel about our current forum, people outside of the BSN largely regarded it as one of the most toxic places on the internet, especially after the Mass Effect 3 controversy. Now that is just rabble that is statistically unproven, but it was something that was pointed out in almost every online discussion surrounding the closure of the Official Bioware Forums. In addition, this poll is dated before the Extended Cut was released, so it isn't taking into account any change in opinion that might've occurred after. In other words, the accuracy of this poll isn't great. That being said, I would say that most people who played Mass Effect 3 have negative feelings about the ending. "Hate" is always such a strong word and isn't always accurate. I always kinda assumed that the negative ending was designed to get a negative reaction of sorts, but they just misjudged the scale of the reaction.

Not all stories have a happy ending and some people couldn't handle their Shepard ending in the way he/she did. Apparently, these people have never played D&D.

I mean that by the message of any ending given at the end of the game was too ambiguous (very open to any kind of interpretation) which increased the meltdown on BSN (or it certainly helped).

Er... yeah, I'd have to disagree with this too. Kasumi was a pretty cool character, but unfortunately she and Zaeed felt like they lacked depth on account of being DLC companions - not having cinematic and quest related dialogue on the Normandy and such. I don't really see how she was 'anime-ish' unless you refer to her being Japanese and having that bit of geisha makeup - but geisha pre-dates anime, so... Also, I've watched enough quality anime to say there's some pretty awesome female characters out there - arguably they have a better track record of this than gaming did until relatively recently - taking inspiration from some of them wouldn't be so terrible. But I don't want to get off topic... Anyway my original post was intended as a joke. There's quite a few of us chomping at the bit for more squadmate info, particularly for Liam and Cora and the mysterious Jaal. I was also taking a minor dig at the people who seem to believe there's some 'they're hiding it because it sucks!' conspiracy in regards to the marketing so far... Personally, I like that they haven't majorly spoiled parts of the story like they did with DAI. I don't want to have entire side missions given way before I have a chance to play the game.

One should be careful about making statements like "it will change a lot of negative sentiment". Never underestimate how loud and persistent people who want to hate on things are. Though in personal I try to avoid the hype train as well as the counter-part negative train prior to a game release. Still, it's always nice to see more of the game so I would welcome a new trailer. Personally I'll just keep on avoiding the Shinobi hypetrain. He's licking BioWare's boots because he's friends with them and always putting in a good word and he's also a huge fan himself but he tends to be overly positive about everything to the point where it gets delusional. He's said "It's amazing" ever since the first trailer was about to release and the reactions to it reflected opinions to the contrary. Don't buy into stuff Shinobi says if you're already a bit on the skeptical side. If anything, he's pragmatic and pretty darn neutral in his approach to Andromeda. I've never seen this delusional side or "overly" positive side from him: he's pretty right about most things too re: Mass Effect development, although there is the odd hiccup.... but what's life without the odd tangent. Myself, I'm pumped for a new trailer, like....Verner pumped.
