Hawke is my favourite person in Thedas (with LadyHawke beating ManHawke, I mean, I like ManHawke, he's just further down the list. Played a Andersmancing Purple Rogue Marian Hawke and I loved every minute of it, except the 10 or so I spent being chased by a certain somebody around the keep... I had intended my ManHawke, Tony the Mage, to be aggressive, but whatdo you know? He's come out sarcastic!
As for Hawke vs Shepard, just don't...it's not fair. I deliberately make Alistair become King of Ferelden to avoid nasty choices like that.

I like Male Hawke better, in all honesty. Especially when he hams it up in combat. 'There!!!' 'Follow my lead!!!' and 'May Andraste guide you!' never get old. And, of course, if you veer into sarcastic territory in Act III, it's pretty fun to have Hawke (regardless of gender) being pretty blase about everything since they've seen everything in the span of almost 10 years. 'Aaaand we're under attack. What a surprise... '

That's from Carver, no? is not the official Hawke's name Garreth or Garret or something? So it would have been G. Hawke from the lead?

I am playing the frontier planets of the Andromeda, Kadara and Eladeen, and I am starting to miss Hawke again. Not just because Reyes's voice, but the whole darktown/rogue feel of the game. In the end, I think I never really got into the cleaned up nobleman Hawke side, and yeah, i think I am starting to connect the dots and figure out that I am into sanitized roguish protagonists, because my favs are Hawke (no matter which voice he plays) with his background and his fight to stay afloat and not quite making it, and Smuggler & BH from SWTOR, pure rogues, and now my second Ryder who's as much of a slippery bastard as I can push him to be... I am thinking I am finally almost ready to revisit Hawke and try the second run. My first one was so good, but by now, I think I can play without looking back to it and sighing for the "real" Hawke. Well, we'll see how it goes, and if I have another Hawke in me. Or if there is Only One Hawke...

Oh, I like to play as roguish noble, and Hawke isn't a sewer rat, s/he was a commoner with a noble and an apostate background. His/her heirloom is both persecution and lawlessness, and noble behavior. Wherever s/he can live.

I prefer my Hawke's as an apostate' son rather than an Amel. Mom-Hawke, Carver and Bethany can keep Amel side heh.

It gives some kind of satisfaction, when (especially mage) Hawke living in his family manor together with Anders. It just shows the corruption of the city, ironic, that it really should be so, normally, without corruption(!), if the law would right.

I agree, the whole Kadara section reminded me what I liked (and miss) about DA2/ME2 era Bioware, with the Darktown/Lowtown and Omega vibes. I did like noble Hawke, but since Hawke starts out a refugee, it has a different feel, unlike the human noble Warden or human Inquisitor. I definitely have Only One Hawke at this point. I played other versions of Hawke when the game was new to me, but now I've kinda played the game too many times so my canon Hawke is a very a set character in my mind. Other Hawkes feel strange.

Jo Wyatt aka Hawke Interview!!! This has probably been posted elsewhere on this forum, but this totally made my day and I've just got to put it here as well: If you haven't seen this, you really have to. It's not often that you hear anything about voice actors, and I think this is the only interview I've managed to find with Wyatt. It's fun how she says that she likes the snippets of humour in the games. Purple Hawke, anyone? It's interesting how her voice in real life sounds like - not quite as smooth and velvety as Hawke's, but instantly recognizable. Whereas her voice as Ciri is more gruff and maybe more edgy. Anyway, she's just as alluring in real life as she was as Hawke

Here Nicholas Boulton interview. Thanks for posting, I hadn't seen this before. I heard Dreamfall Chapters is finally coming out on console now (took long enough), so you guys should check it out if you haven't. I played the PC version a while back, it's pretty good, although I wish... The ending had been a little less vague, for all 3 of the main protagonists...but maybe there will be another sequel for the series, who knows....

Hey guys, I need help with making mage Hawke my canon. DA2 and DAI seems to embrace the idea of Hawke being a mage and since I really like Bethany I have a hard time playing as a mage. Any justifications would be nice

Any justifications would be nice Carver's fun! Especially the rival Templar Carver (for me, but many people like better the Warden Carver; I now started a PT for it). I have only few experience with friendly Carver: one of them died on the Deep Roads, and was years ago, just as my Templar-end Carver, and the rivalry just fit better the relationship between him and my Hawkes. And despite that he may join to Templars, he insists his brother/sister. Many people hate him because hi betray Hawke, but this isn't really true, because he has some reasons to become Templar. Some videos (Act 1 only):

It's like the devs didn't anticipate something like that ever happening lol Templar Carver fits with male Hawke because their relationship is basically a pissing contest, but I like my Hawke female and I think GW Carver fits better to femHawke and I don't think him joining the Templars is a betreyal. I have grwon to like Carver, the only problem is that I like Bethany more

It's possible to befriend him, he just likes the safe behavior (don't shit on the Templars' head, brother, be polite!), and the direct behavior (sometimes the aggressiveness impresses him, just as Fenris), the practicality (he likes if the people pay for their work), and he's humane and likes Ferelden. I don't know him with fem!Hawke, but you probably right. I just know, that a sarcastic M!Hawke really good with rival Templar Hawke. I can recommend this combination, but perhaps working the friendship with a good fem!Hawke. True, I heard opinions, that this is frustrating because Hawke just likes him, and nice with him, and he just a feckin jerk... But probably they expected some grateful, really goody brother behavior from him.

He is prickly at first because he feels he doesn't belong in the Amell family, and wants to belong somewhere. I've tried MHawke with Carver and it was really good but I like female Hawke's voice actor really much. (And more after I realised she played Ciri in TW3)

He saw the Templars as knights in shiny armor, who protect the people, but he experienced, that most of them only abuse the mages. I like this way, because this is HIS (bad) choice. The Warden path better to him, but only an accident. And probably yes: until the Legacy, he feels less important than his magical siblings. He just feels important and useful. And Aveline refused him... Fem!Hawke have some feeling, I see, but I prefer male, he's just fun. (And Nicholas Boulton's voice.)
