About buying Andromeda, I mean. And when I say "recent actions", I'm not just referring to the forum closure (though that is one of them). Between the board closure, hiring an openly racist author (N.K. Jemisin) wat? is this really a concern?

Nope, probably going to pre-order it. That's something I only do with Bioware-games and so far they have not given me any reason not to (I care more about the mp of me3 and the whole game than I care about the shitty ending/ Even though I think Witcher 3 is a better game than DAI I still enjoyed the latter).

I still think BioWare closing their forums was a really stupid move, and suspect it will bite them in the ass later on, but I'm still excited for MEA. I will be paying close attention to previews. I'm more concerned about multiplayer not being as good as it was in ME3 but I'm sure once they start showing off the amazing maps I will be suffiently dazzled.
...and OP's "racist" claims are bullshit drama.

No. I don't think it's practical to have some sort of moral stance on the entertainment products I buy. You just disagree and move on.

There's a lot I don't like about ME3 even without the endings but it was the decision to drop the old consoles mid dlc cycle that really made me reluctant to give Bioware anymore of my money, their shenanigans since just reinforced that reluctance.
I'm taking a wait and see approach, I'll look at the reviews post release and somewhere between journalist over hype and fans complaining I'll hopful be able to tell if this is a game I want to play. Then I'll buy it second hand. I can't avoid paying BW for dlcs but I can pay someone else for the main game.
It's petty but it's all I've got.

Forgot to mention in my last two posts. If any company openly antagonizes their consumers, no cash from me, regardless of the game's quality.

Not really. Whatever happens, I expect a character focused game where you'll have decent interactions and characterizations of your crew members, a la DA:I at least. I feel like this is what BioWare is good at, characters and dialogue with said characters. At this point, I don't much care about any story or lore beyond that.

For me I'm just waiting on some solid info about the game. Maybe some user reviews.
Also if history is any indication, I'll probably be able to pick up the digital deluxe edition on a good sale a month or so after release. Got DAI digital deluxe on the Xbox One for $45 about a month after it came out.

ME2 was my first experience with the ME universe. For me (and i haven't played ME1) ME2 is a bit better than ME3 if only for the robust characters and the time they took to brilliantly craft each one. One thing both games did amazingly well was character interaction and the sense of dread and urgency to stop the collectors and reapers was just really done well. I was worried about the decisions I was making in ME2 because i didn't want ANYBODY to die, that is a sign of great character design and individuality.
ME3 had this urgent and sense of dread as well, but it seemed like it was trimmed a bit in terms of exploration and character building, still it was a great experience and the climax, the buildup to the end was great, even when you prepared yourself fully, (your allies, galaxy preparedness etc) The reapers still gave you that sense that they was STILL going to win, that sense of desperation and dread was felt all the way to the end.
All that being said, i wasn't that disappointed with the endings in ME3. Would I have liked a more traditional ending and some sort of absolute ending? sure, but what Bioware gave us was something that i felt none of us was expecting. So I feel that they have read our feedback from that fisaco, wrapped up that storyline and are going to give us a solid game in Andromeda. I'm a bit clueless as to all of the political racist stuff going on behind the scenes, but i'm sure Bioware will deliver a solid product.

Nope. And I'm always on the lookout for female POC authors who write fantasy, so I'm delighted to add her to my list, thanks! . I've yet to play a BioWare game and find myself thinking, 'Well, that was a waste of time', and I've played pretty much all of them, so... No? Heck, if I like the CE, I'll even pre-order. (To be clear, I'm not saying that every BioWare game is as good as every other BioWare game, but I've never played one and then wished I hadn't.) I'm gonna leave the Manveer thing alone 'cause boy is that played out - we had a whole thread, remember? Got closed? - and I think my position on the matter is pretty obvious just from the comments I've liked in this and the previous thread. On N. K. Jemisin, though: I could not be more excited that BioWare actually managed to convince an author that good to write a Mass Effect novel. I honestly still kinda can't believe it. I've almost as much anticipation for that book as I do for the game itself. These threads often put people on my radar that I wouldn't have known about otherwise. A female POC writing fantasy? Hell, yeah! May I have some more, please? It's really weird reading backwards definitions of racism. Manveer is using a lot of in-jokes that poke fun at racism. Those jokes seem to fly right over people's heads. I'll continue to support Bioware as they make games I want to play. The fact that they actually care about issues that matter to me sets them apart from most game developers. When they stop caring about those issues, I'll stop caring about them. As of now, I'm hyped about MEA and the hype machine hasn't even started yet!

I don't know what to make of them, to be honest, at this rate I'd say I'm not really excited for MEA, no, but for me DA:I was already a pretty heavy disappointment.
I'm sure there's a possibility it could go better, be an amazing game, but I feel the longer the game takes the lower that chance becomes, IMHO.
Edit: Personally, I think David Gaider leaving was pretty big blow, even after all the drama and fuss he still remained and was a pretty driving creative force.
Right now, it feels like a creative company that has no creative people, which might be all right if they just made Sports games or something, but I mean, this is Bioware so it's like err...

Then for DAI he had, for many consecutive weeks, guests who said they were enjoying the game (including Jesse and Dodger) but loudly declares again and again that it's crap. As if his word is god, while Jesse just shuts up cause you know he liked it. Uhh, Jesse doesn't like DAI much either... Not sure if he had a positive opinion at first, but he speaks mostly negative of it now (mostly the open world stuff to be fair, he does like the story and characters). It's also hilarious he still hasn't finished his Let's Play of it, lol. I wouldn't say TB's opinion on DAI is unfair (even if I disagree with it), but yeah, he does kinda seem to not even want to try to like BW games at this point. He does kind of wear that bias on his sleeve at least. On the actual topic, lol no, I will buy it day one, I've yet to not extract hundreds of hours of enjoyment of even my least favorite BW games,so until the day that changes, I'm buying their stuff asap. I don't care one bit about the forum shutdown drama, and while I can agree that some of those people hired may be obnoxious, every company has obnoxious people, I'd starve myself of entertainment if I avoided things based on that (unless it's an extreme case, which to be fair does happen). "Never meet your idols"I would say basically this, in essence, but yeah... the problem is at one point does something kind of take so many hits before it just goes down?

I'm pissed with Bioware, the forum closure ended up opening my eyes (even more). Closing the place we used as a friend's gathering, and giving stupid excuses as the why. Instead of rebuilding the fanbase trust, they shitted all over it. Not preordering Andromeda. And if I ever end up buying it, it will be only because of the multiplayer and probably will buy it from some shady site like G2A. With some luck it'll be a stolen key or something and they wont get a single penny from me.

Since my opinion on every game is to wait for it to come out and drop in price. Not really. The game's apparent quality when it comes out will probably make me decide if I buy it for £20 or £10 though.

After I heard for the first time the develepment of a new ME is ongoing, a pre order was without a question. But recently I have some serious doubts about pre ordering. Lackluster E3 presentation, termination of BSN and a no show at gamescom. But if I know me well, that will change the second we see actual gameplay footage info.

Hier is an asshat, but he's obviously doing a good job collecting white tears for that cup because of all the whiny fuckboys with victim complexes on the internet who take him seriously.
Can honestly say I don't know what Jemisin did at all that is racist. Putting brown people in the middle ages as a major demographic isn't racist. It's historically inaccurate, but no one is implying whites are inferior by doing so any moreso than, say an English Anglo-Saxon playing Anna Karenina or Vasily Zaytsev implies Slavs are inferior (it doesn't).
Personally, I'm judging my purchase of the game on its features, not on disagreements in views on tumblresque identity politics garbage or whatever between the writers and myself.

I'm buying it regardless of all the news and drama surrounding Bioware and Mass Effect. The bottom line for me is that Bioware makes the type of RPG that I want to play. Nothing else in the market satisfies the itch the way they do. I've been disappointed by offerings in the past but not enough to stop buying. I've played the piss out of every game they've released since Mass Effect 1 (with ME3 as the exception). I've played through DA:I at least nine times and enjoyed it every time. I don't agree with all of their politics and political correctness but I can put that aside and just enjoy the worlds they've created.
To each their own but Bioware games remain Day One purchases for me.

The only thing that reviews can typically catch is stuff that doesn't crop up until later in the game, unless you're going to wait a month or more for the let's player to release that many videos to get into the mid-late game of the game. <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>> I can't remember a game review that comments on the game's proper use of the input controls, GUI design, inventory, menu navigation...etc. Review articles tell you that the car you buy is shiny, has awesome radio with 8 speakers, heated leather seats with AC front and back. Yet, the most important (to me) is : 1. Standard or automatic (with how many gears)? 2. Must I take my eyes off the road when reaching for the controls? 3. Premium gas only? 4. Full spare tire or that crutch of a wheel? 5. 4-6 cyl engine + gas milage

Oh Xen, you always come up with the greatest arguments and I agree with you on all three points. Let the asshat be an asshat, as long as he doesn't bring his asshatness to the game, he can call for the genocide of white people for all I care. I wipe my hands of his idiocy and I'll just judge his work instead. Still buying my copy used though.

Although the let's play will also give you an idea of things like inventory, interface, etc. since the player will have to go through those things on a somewhat regular basis if it's part of the gameplay. Controls are kind of a thing one has to specifically ask about on a forum, since that's not something you can really watch somebody else use and get a good idea as to how they're going to be.
